Introduction
This manual documents the Temp_Derate plug-in.
The Temp_Derate plug-in receives inputs from a hydraulic fluid temperature sensor. The
Temp_Derate plug-in outputs either a value of 100.00% or a lower, user-set value.
An application typically multiplies its input commands by the output of the Temp_Derate
plug-in.
When hot hydraulic fluid turns the Temp_Derate plug-in on, its output ramps down from
100.00% to a lower, user-set value.
Multiplying input commands by less than 100.00% produces scaled-down output
commands that:
Slow down temperature increases.
Help prevent high temperature damage.
When hydraulic fluid cools and turns the Temp_Derate plug-in off, its output ramps up to
100.00%.
Multiplying input commands by 100.00% leaves output commands unchanged.
The Temp_Derate plug-in is a variant of the Maximum Command Scale type of plug-ins.
The Temp_Derate plug-in installs in a MaxCmdScale socket page.

T = Set plug-in defaults
T = Plug-in off (fault)—overrides Temp_C signal
High temp = plug-in on
Normal temp = plug-in off
Plug-in on = 7000 (70.00%)/Plug-in off = 10000 (100.00%)*
The Temp_Derate plug-in outputs a Derate% value.
An application typically multiplies its input commands by the Derate% output. In over-
temperature conditions, this multiplication produces scaled-down output commands.
With typical default values, when the Temp_Derate plug-in:
Turns on, its Derate% output ramps down to 7000 (70.00%).
Multiplying input commands by 70.00% scales down output commands by 30.00%.
Turns off, its Derate% output ramps up to 10000 (100.00%).
Multiplying input commands by 100.00% leaves output commands unchanged.

Callout Item Description
1 Temp_Params page Contains non-volatile memory (EE) components whose output signals configure the Temp_Derate plug-in.
2 Temp_Derate page Outputs a Derate% value. An application typically multiplies this value by input commands by to produce
scaled-down output commands.
With typical default values, when the Temp_Derate plug-in:
Turns on (Temp_C signal > user-set value), its Derate% output ramps down from 10000 (100.00%) to 7000
(70.00%).
Multiplying by 70.00% scales down output commands by 30.00%.
Turns off (Temp_C signal < user-set value), its Derate% output ramps up to 10000 (100.00%).
Multiplying by 100.00% leaves output commands unchanged.
The B_Disable signal = T turns the Temp_Derate plug-in off, overriding the Temp_C signal.

Plug-in Input Signals
Bus/Signal Type Range Description
Signal bus —— —— Inputs the following signals to the plug-in.
B_SetDefaults
signal
BOOL —— T = Apply default values to the plug-in.

T = Apply IN values
The Temp_Params page contains non-volatile memory (EE) components whose output
signals configure the Temp_Derate plug-in.
Temp_Params Page
Callout Item Description
1 EE_Temp_De_Rate_Enable
EE value
Outputs the B_Temp_Enable signal.
T = Plug-in enabled—Input signals can turn the plug-in on and off.
F = Plug-in disabled—The plug-in is off. Input signals cannot turn the plug-in on.
2 EE_Temp_Threshold
EE value
Outputs the Temp_Thld_DegC signal.
This signal sets the temperature threshold. When the plug-in’s Temp_C input signal rises above this
value, its Derate% output drops from 10000 (100.00%) to the Temp_Derate_Pct2 value.
Range: 500–1250 (1000 = 100.0°C)
3 EE_Temp_Derate_Pct2
EE value
Outputs the Temp_Derate_Pct2 value.
When the plug-in turns on, it outputs this value.
An application typically multiplies this value by its input commands to produce scaled-down output
commands.
Range: 5000–10000 (100.00 = 100.00%)
4 EE_Temp_Hyst_DegC
EE value
Outputs the Temp_Hyst_DegC signal.
This signal sets the temperature threshold drop value.
After an over-temperature condition occurs, the fluid temperature must drop by this percentage below
the Temp_Thld_DegC value before the Derate% output again ramps up to 10000 (100.00%).
Range: 0–500 (50.0% = 50.0°C)

EE value
Outputs the Temp_Ramp_mS signal.
This signal sets the ramp time for the Derate% output to smoothly change between 10000 (100.00%)
and the Temp_Derate_Pct2 value.
A Time Ramp function block inside the locked Temp_Derate page outputs this ramp.
For more about the Time_Ramp function block, refer to the PLUS+1 GUIDE Basic Function Blocks Library
