Carbon Monoxide Poisoning: Some people are more

affected by carbon monoxide than others. Early signs of

carbon monoxide poisoning resemble the ﬂu, with headaches,

dizziness, and/or nausea. If you have these signs, the heater

may not be working properly. Get fresh air at once! Have

heater serviced.

Propane Gas: Propane gas is odorless. An odor making agent is

added to propane gas. The odor helps you detect a propane gas

leak. However, the odor added to propane gas can fade. Propane

gas may be present even though no odor exists.

Make certain you read and understand all warnings. Keep this

manual for reference. It is your guide to safe and proper

operation of this heater.

• For outdoor use only. Do not use inside house, camper, tent,

vehicle, or any type of unvented or enclosed area.

• Area must be well ventilated. Provide minimum openings of

1 sq ft (.093 m²) near the ﬂoor and 1 sq ft. (.093 m²) near the

ceiling. Do not use inside house, camper, tent, vehicle, or any

type of unvented or enclosed area.

• Maintain minimum clearance from normal combustible

materials (like paper) as follows: Sides - 3 ft. (.91m); Top and

Front - 5 ft. (1.5m). Locate 10 ft. (3m) from canvas or plastic

tarpaulins or similar coverings and secure them to prevent

ﬂapping or movement due to wind action.

• Use heater in areas free from open ames, combustible

vapors, and dust.

• Do not expose to wind.

• Never operate heater while sleeping or unattended.

• Use only propane gas set up for vapor withdrawal. If there is any

question about vapor withdrawal, ask your propane/LP dealer.

• For use with 20 lb propane cylinders.

The LP gas cylinder must be constructed and marked in

accordance with the specications for the LP gas cylinders of the

US Department of Transportation (DOT) or Transport Canada.

• Keep all connections and ttings clean. Make sure propane/

LP tank valve is clean. Check “O” ring on heater inlet fuel

damaged.

• Check the heater thoroughly for damage. Do not operate a

damaged heater.

• Do not modify the heater or operate a heater which has been

modiﬁed from its original condition.

• Before each use, check heater for leaks. Never use an open

ﬂame to check for a leak. Apply a mixture of liquid soap and

water to all joints. Bubbles forming show a leak. Correct all

leaks at once.

• Locate propane tank on a stable and level surface. The

heater burner must be at least 24 in. (0.61 m) above the oor.

Always attach heater to propane tank in an upright position.

Never operate heater on its side or attach to propane tank in

a horizontal position. This could lead to dangerous ﬂare-ups

or ﬁre.

• Keep children and animals away from heater.

• Keep propane tank at least 6 m (20 ft) from any radiant

heater.

• Due to the high surface and exhaust temperatures, adults

and children must observe clearances to avoid burns or

clothing ignition.

• Do not use heater below ground level. Propane is heavier

than air. If a leak occurs, propane gas will sink to the lowest

possible level. If you smell gas or suspect a leak, shut off the

propane tank valve at once and ventilate the area. Do not

strike a match or create any ame or electric spark. Find and

correct the leak before attempting to light any appliance. If

you cannot correct leak, do not tamper with heater. Return

heater to nearest authorized service center or to address on

back page of this manual.

• Do not move or handle a hot or operating heater. Do not

attach or remove a hot or operating heater from the propane

tank. Severe burns may result.

• Storage of heater is permissible only if the propane tank is

disconnected and removed from heater.

• Always remove heater from propane tank after each use.

Always store propane tank outdoors in a well ventilated space

out of the reach of children. Never store propane tank in a

building, garage, or any other enclosed area. Never store

propane tank near high heat, open ﬂame, or where

temperatures exceed 100° F (38° C).

• Use only in accordance with local codes or, in the absence of

local codes, with the Standard for the Storage and Handling

of Liqueed Petroleum Gases ANSI/NFPA 58 and CSA

B149.1, Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code.

• The primary purpose of construction heaters is to provide

temporary heating of buildings under construction, alteration

or repair.

• Inspect heater before each use. Have heater inspected yearly

by a qualiﬁed service person.

• If the heater is stored indoors, remove the heater from the

propane tank and follow the Standard for the Storage and

Handling of Liqueed Petroleum Gases ANSI/NFPA 58 and

CSA B149.1, Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code.

ASpHYXIATION HAZARD:

Do not use this heater for heating human living quarters.

Do not use in unventilated areas. The ﬂow of combustion

and ventilation air must not be obstructed. Proper

ventilation air must be provided to support the

combustion air requirements of the heater being used.

Refer to the speciﬁcation section of the heater’s

manual, heater data plate, or Quality Craft to determine

combustion air ventilation requirements of the heater.

Lack of proper ventilation air will lead to improper

combustion.

Improper combustion can lead to carbon monoxide

poisoning leading to serious injury or death. Symptom

of carbon monoxide poisoning can include headaches

dizziness and difﬁculty in breathing.

CONNECTING HEATER TO pROpANE TANK

Read and understand all safety information before connecting

heater to propane tank.

WARNING: make sure there is no open flame in the area.

1. This heater is designed to operate with a 20 lb (9 kg) tank.

2. Place tank stand on at surface. Place 20 lb (9 kg) tank in

tank stand and push down (see diagram 1).

3. Attach tank bracket to heater arm and tighten two bolts. Tank

bracket will t onto tank wall when installed (see Diagram 1).

4. Make sure heater regulator knob is in the “OFF” position.

5. Keep all connections and ttings clean. Make sure the

propane tank valve outlet is clean. Check the rubber “O” ring

on the heater inlet fuel connector for damage before each

use.Replace if worn or damaged.

6. Wrench tighten the fuel connector nut into the propane

tank valve (see Diagram 1). Turn fuel connector nut

counterclockwise to tighten. Threads are left-handed.

WARNING: attach heater in upright position as shown in

Diagram 1. never attach heater in a horizontal position. this

7. Open propane tank valve on propane tank slowly.

8. Check all ttings for leaks. Apply a mixture of liquid soap

and water to all joints. Bubbles forming show a leak.

Correct all leaks at once.

WARNING: never use an open flame to check for a leak.

LIGHTING HEATER

Read and understand all safety information before operating

heater.

1. Open gas valve on propane tank by turning

counter-clockwise.

2. Turn the heater regulator knob to “LO”. Hold a burning match

near the gas exit in front of the screen. Push the safety

shutoff valve plunger as shown in Diagram 2.

3. Remove the match when a weak bluish ﬂame is visible.

Continue to hold the safety shutoff valve plunger in until the

screen begins to glow. See Diagram 3.

4. Turn regulator knob to desired heat setting:

“HI” @ approximately 12,000 BTUs per Hour

“LO” @ approximately 8,000 BTUs per Hour

Note: If heat setting is set too low, unit will

automatically shut-off.

WARNING: Do not push in safety shutoff valve plunger before

inserting lit match.

CAUTION: Do not insert match into air inlet holes in

mixing tube.

TO TURN OFF HEATER

1. Turn the gas valve on the bulk tank completely OFF

(clockwise).

2. Turn the heater knob to “OFF” (clockwise). CAUTION: After

turning unit off, heater will remain extremely hot. Allow at

least 15 minutes for cooling before handling and storing.

CLEANING & STORAGE

1. To clean your infrared heater, use a damp soapy cloth. DO

NOT immerse in water.

2. Always remove the unit from the propane tank when not in

use OR WHEN TRANSPORTING by turning tting clockwise

(Note – This is a left hand thread).

3. Always store propane tanks in a cool, well ventilated place,

away from any ame or heat and in a location. NOT USED

FOR HABITATION.

WARNING: never attempt to service heater while it is

connecteD to propane supply, operating, or hot. severe burns

can occur.

WARNING: keep heater clear anD free from combustible

materials, gasoline, anD other flammable vapors anD liquiDs.

WARNING: Do not block the flow of combustion or

ventilation air.

REpLACEMENT pARTS

WARNING:

Use only original replacement parts. This heater must use design-

specic parts. Do not substitute or use generic parts. Improper

replacement parts could cause serious or fatal injuries. This will also

protect your warranty coverage for parts replaced under warranty.

original replacement part(s), call Quality Craft at 1-800-459-

WARRANTY

Quality Craft warrants this product and any parts thereof, to be

free from defects in material and workmanship for one year from

the date of ﬁrst purchase, provided that the product has been

properly installed, operated, and maintained in accordance with

all applicable instructions. To make a claim under this warranty,

the bill of sale or proof of purchase must be presented.

This warranty is extended only to the original retail purchaser.

This warranty covers only the cost of parts required to restore

this heater to proper operating condition. Warranty parts must

be obtained through Quality Craft who will provide original

factory replacement parts. Failure to use original factory

replacement parts voids this warranty. The heater must be used

in accordance with all local codes and instructions furnished

with the unit.

This warranty does not apply to parts that are not in original

condition because of normal wear and tear, or parts that fail

or become damaged as a result of misuse, accidents, lack of

proper maintenance, alteration, tampering, contaminated fuels,

or defects caused by improper installation. Travel, transportation

and incidental costs associated with warranty repair are not

reimbursable under this warranty and are the responsibility of the

owner.

To the full extent allowed by the law of the jurisdiction that

governs the sale of the product: This express warranty excludes

any and all other expressed warranties of merchantability and

tness for a particular purpose to ONE YEAR from the date

of rst purchase: and Quality Craft liability is hereby limited to

the purchase price of the product and Quality Craft shall not

be liable for any other damages whatsoever including indirect,

incidental or consequential damages.

Some states do not allow a limitation on how long an implied

warranty lasts or an exclusion or limitation of incidental or

consequential damages, so the above limitation on implied

warranties, or exclusion or limitation on damages may not apply

to you.
