INSTALLATION AND OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
ADDITIONAL SENSOR CO
with sensor for
Carbon monoxide (CO)
1. GENERAL OVERVIEW
As a standard the ams KOMBIALARM offers the possibility to connect up to two additional
sensors.
The additional sensors are available in different designs:
€ Additional sensor for liquid gas (propane/butane), natural gas (methane) and KO-gas
(anaesthetic gas)
€ Additional sensor for carbon monoxide (CO)
The additional sensors can be connected to either one of the two additional inputs
(SENSOR 2 / SENSOR 3) irrespective of the type of sensor used.
2. CARBON MONOXIDE
Carbon monoxide (CO) is an invisible, odourless and extremely toxic gas. It can be found
where gas, oil, wood, coal etc are burned. Toxic amounts of carbon monoxide can develop,
if ovens or cookers are not connected properly or not serviced regularly, if ventilation is
inadequate or if the flue is blocked. Inhaling even small amounts of CO can lead to
permanent damage of cardiovascular and neural functions or can even be fatal.
Symptoms: Tiredness, headaches, dizziness, nausea, chest or stomach pains.
Indications of faulty heating appliances: Stains, soot deposits, yellow/orange coloured
fumes, smell of fumes, the fire goes out easily.
3. PLACEMENT
Carbon monoxide is a little lighter than air and as a result always rises upwards. Therefore,
the additional carbon monoxide sensor should be fitted just under the ceiling and as near as
possible to the potential safety hazard.
4. INSTALLATION
The sensor can be fitted either by gluing or by using the enclosed screws.
Please strictly observe the installation height!
5. ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
The add-on sensor comes complete with a 3-wire cable of about 3 m in length.
The sensor is connected to the main unit at either of the two inputs labelled ‚SENSOR 2’ or
‚SENSOR 3’:
