besttoselectDolbyProLogicIIformostanalog
inputsandDolbyDigitalfor inputsconnectedto digital
sources.Inthecaseof inputssuchasaCDPlayer,
rapeDeckorluner,youmaywishtosetthemodeto
oneofthetwoStereomodes,astheyarenottypically
usedwithmultichannelsurround-encodedprogram
materbl.AnalogStereo-Directmodebypassesthe
digitalsignal-processingcircuitryfora completelyana-
logsignalpaththatpreservesthepurityoftheoriginal
signal,andStereo-Digitalmodeprovidesbassman-
agementfor optimaldistributionofthelowfrequencies
betweensmallerspeakersandasubwoofer.Al[ef=
natively,theLogic7Musicmodeisagoodchoicefor
stereo-onlysourcematerial.
NOTE:WhenaLogic7 modeisinusewithaDolby

DelaySettings
IfDolbyDigitalor DolbyProLogicIIisselectedasthe
surroundmodeforaninput,youmayneedtoadjust
thedelaytimesetting.Notethatthedelaytimeisnot
adjustableforanyothermodes.
Duetothedifferentdistancesbetweenthefront-chan-
nelspeakersandthelisteningpositioncomparedto
thesurroundspeakersandthelisteningposition,the
amountoftimeittakesfor soundto reachyourears
fromthefrontorsurroundspeakersmaydiffer.You
maycompensateforthisdifferencethroughtheuseof
thedelaysettingsto adjustthetimingtotailorthespe-
cificspeakerplacementandacousticconditionsin
yourlisteningroomorhometheater.
Thefactorysettingisappropriatefor mostrooms,but
someinstallationscreateanuncommondistance
betweenthefrontandsurroundspeakersthatmay
causethearrivaloffront-channelsoundstobecome
disconnectedfromsurround-channelsounds.

Digitalsurroundmode,theoptimaldelaytime
istheresultd thatsubtraction.Forexample,if
thefrontspeakersare10feetawayandthe
surroundspeakersarefivefeetaway,theopti-
maldelaytimeisfiguredas10-5=5. lhus,in
thisexample,thedelaytimeforDolbyDigital
shouldbesetatfivemilliseconds.

mode,taketheresultofthesubtractionand

mainandsubwooferspeakerstotakeadvantage
ofthespecialbasscreatedfor certainmovies.
Pressthe_/_ Buttons_ ontheremote
sothatS UB ( L FE ) appearsintheon-
screenmenu.
Ifasubwooferisconnectedandyouwishtouseit
forbassreproductioninconjunctionwiththemain
frontleft/rightspeakers,regardlessofthetypeof
programsourceor surroundmodeyouarelisten-
ingto,pressthe_/P, Buttons_ onthe
remotesothatSUB L/ R+ L F E appearsin
theon-screenmenu.Whenthisoptionisselected,
a"complete"feedwillbesenttothefrontleft/right
"main"speakers,andthesubwooferwillreceive
bassfrequenciesbelowlOOHz.
Whenallspeakerselectionshavebeenmade,press
the Button_ untiltheon-screenP,cursor
pointsto RE TU RN TO M EN U andpressthe
SetButton_ toreturntothe MAST ER
MENU.
Thespeakerconfigurationmayalsobechangedat
anytimewithoutusingtheFulI-OSDon-screenmenu
systembypressingtheSpeakerSelectbuttononthe
