Editorial
You have just acquired a De Dietrich induction hob, for which we thank you. De Dietrich
has designed this hob to meet all your requirements in terms of quality, aesthetics and
performance.
This induction hob will save you an immense amount of time and energy thanks to its
induction technology. It can just as easily be used at extremely high temperatures as at
very low temperatures for delicate dishes. It is ideal for searing and simmering all your
dishes with the utmost accuracy. All your family's safety is guaranteed as the hob only
works when there is a recipient on it and the ceramic surface gives off no heat. It is
cleaned simply by wiping it with a cloth and any possible splashes do not burn.
DE DIETRICH offers its latest and best know-how to improve your quality of life and
respect our environment.
We thank you for your confidence and invite you to read this guide very carefully. It will
enable you to install and use your new induction hob as well as possible, and to discover
and get to know all the possibilities it makes available to you.
Using your hob in complete safety
Using your hob in complete safety
We have designed this hob for private use in homes.
With a view to constantly improving our products, we reser-
ve the right to make any changes to their technical, program
or aesthetic features connected with their technical evolution.
These hobs are exclusively designed for cooking drinks and
foodstuffs and contain no asbestos based components.
We suggest that you should periodically check that there are
no objects ( paper, etc.) that could obstruct the air inlet under
your induction hob (See fitting).
HOB safety
A sensor continuously monitors the temperature of the
components of your hob. The power output by the hob
will automatically be reduced if this temperature becomes
excessive.
SAUCEPAN safety
Each unit is equipped with a sensor that continuously
monitors the temperature of the bottom of the pan, so that
overheating is impossible (empty saucepan, etc.).
METALLIC OBJECT safety
A small object such as a fork, a spoon or a ring placed on
your induction hob by itself is not detected as a pan. The
display flashes and there is no output power.
4
If your hob is placed above your oven (see "Choice of Installation") thermal
protectors prevent it being used when the oven is being pyro-cleaned.
5
Your induction hob in complete safety
For the attention of wearers of
pacemakers or other active
implants:
The hob complies with all current
standards on electromagnetic interfe-
rence.
Your induction hob is therefore per-
fectly in keeping with legal require-
ments (89/336/CEE directives). It is
designed not to create interference on
any other electrical apparatus being
used on condition that the apparatus
in question also complies with this
legislation.
Your induction hob generates
short-range magnetic fields.
To avoid any interference between your
induction hob and a pacemaker, the lat-
ter must be designed to comply with
relevant regulations.
In this respect, we can only guarantee
our own product conformity. Please
consult the pacemaker manufacturer or
your doctor concerning its conformity
or any possible incompatibility.L
If a crack appears in the glass
surface, disconnect the
appliance immediately to avoid
any risk of electric shock.
For disconnecting, remove the fuses or
use the cutout switch.
Do not re-use your hob until the glass
surface has been changed.
When cooking never use
aluminium foil and never place
products wrapped in aluminium
foil or products deep-frozen in
aluminium packs on the hob.
The aluminium will melt and damage
your appliance irreparably.

The principles of induction
You can control the heating zone you
have selected by using these touch
controls.
Principle
When your induction hob is switched on
and a heating power has been selected,
the electronic circuits produce induced
currents that instantaneously heat the
bottom of the pan that transfers this heat
to the food.
Thus cooking takes place with practical-
ly no energy loss between the induction
hob and the food.

You only have to remove the reci-
pient from the hob to stop power
instantaneously. Push the "Off" touch
control to turn off the heating zone
completely.
Refer to the "What recipients are
best adapted?" chapter
Your hob is extremely versatile
and temperatures can be adjusted
very accurately. It looks after
cooking all your dishes thanks to its
electronic control circuits.
8
Installing your hob in complete safety
Depending on how your kitchen is laid out, you can fit your hob:
Above a cupboard or drawer unit
Above a De Dietrich oven
Above an oven of a different make
Above a dishwasher
C
hoice of installation
9
Your induction hob must always be adequately ventilated.
Make sure that the air inlet through the fan grid at the back is not obs-
tructed.
If these recommendations are not adhered to, the hob may overheat,
switch into the "safety" position and stop temporarily (A series of
small lines can be seen on the display).
The hob must not be fitted above a washing machine, a refrigerator or
a deep-freeze.
If the cable is damaged it must be replaced by the manufacturer, his
after-sales service or a person possessing similar qualifications to
avoid any risks.

11
Installing your hob in complete safety
1 No particular problems with a
small crosspiece.
2 When a rectangular closed
crosspiece is used it must be
chamfered to allow the air to
escape.
3 When several heating zones
are used simultaneously over
long periods of time, or in hot
climatic conditions, we recom-
mend that openings be made in
the side of the unit near the air
escape to allow the hot air to
be evacuated more easily.
12
The hob can be fitted directly onto the
worktop over a DE DIETRICH oven.
The oven can be fitted in the high
position thanks to the upper ventila-
tion system.
For the oven to be fitted in this way,
remove the crosspiece on the front
of the kitchen unit to leave a gap of at
least 4 mm.
Make an air inlet hole on the right or
left-hand sides of the unit of 40 cm².
Example: air inlet on rear left-hand side
8 x 5 cm.

13
Installing your hob in complete safety
An insulation kit (75 x 1562) must be
installed between the oven and the
hob (available from your local sup-
plier's after-sales dept.)
Leave a gap of at least 4 mm.
With this configuration your oven can
only be installed in the low position.
You want to fit your hob above an oven of another make.

Installing your hob in complete safety
You want to fit your hob above a dishwasher
Your hob can be installed above a dishwasher on condition
that you take the following simple precautions:
- The height of your wok top is 90 cm or more.
- Cover the top of your dishwasher with an insulation plate
to avoid any particles coming from the latter's heat insulators
being sucked up by the hob ventilators. This plate is supplied
with your hob.
- You must ensure that a minimum amount of fresh air gets to
your induction hob, so that the hob ventilator can cool the
electronic components inside correctly.
To do this, a cut-out of 40 cm² must be made at the back of
one of the sides of the fitting recess.

Fitting recommendations
A seal exists for preventing any humidity
getting under the hob.
-Stick the seal under the rim of the hob and
lower the hob into position on the worktop.
-This seal is supplied in the sachet; stick it
in place beneath the hob.
Protecting the cut-out: The types of chipboard used for worktops swell relatively quickly in contact with humidity.
Apply a special varnish or glue to the cutout edge to protect it from any steam or condensation that may form under the
worktop.
SEAL
Fix the clips into position (supplied
in the sachet).
Cut-out a rectangular hole in the work-
top of the appropriate size. A gap of at
least 4 cm must be left between the
sides of the hole and rear or side-
walls.

Installing your hob in complete safety
- When the power is switched on, or after a long power failure, a light
code appears on the control panel. This disappears automatically after
about 30 seconds or as soon as any touch control is touched on the
panel. This is normal, as the display is for use by the after-sales service
when required. The user must not take this unto account under any circumstances.
If the unit has a 3 phase 400 V2N connection, and is not working correctly, check
that the neutral wire is correctly connected. This precaution should also be taken
for all your other electronic apparatus.
