Free The Tone SS-1V User guide

  • Hello! I've reviewed the user manual for the Free The Tone Overdrive SS-1V. This device is designed to deliver a pure overdrive sound with an extended dynamic range and is designed to revive the blues sound of the classic Black Face period. The manual also describes features like the HTS circuit and the LED battery voltage monitor. I'm ready to answer any questions you might have about this pedal.
  • What does the LED indicator show?
What should I do when the LED starts to fade?
What can happen if I don't replace the battery?

User’s Guide
Thank you for choosing a Free The Tone product. Please read
this user’s manual thoroughly to ensure that you’ll benefit
fully from the advanced features, performance, and reliability
your Free The Tone product is designed to provide.
The STRING SLINGER boasts an extended dynamic range, brilliant overtones, long
sustain, quick but fat tone, and of course, the most important thing, pure and clean
overdrive sound. In order to realize all of these things, we thoroughly investigated
various electronic circuits and parts and all of the factors related to sound such as
materials and weight of the case and knobs, magnetic fields in the circuit, etc. After
a few years and many prototypes, we finally completed the STRING SLINGER. It
revives that ideal American Blues sound symbolized by the classic Black Face period.
Its viscous, clean-to-crunch tone with moderate compression feel can generate the
best Blues sound.
FREE THE TONE’s unique HTS (Holistic Tonal Solution) circuit is implemented to
protect guitar signals from sounding thin in Bypass mode.
The LED on the unit has the function not only to show the on/off status of the
effects but also to monitor the battery voltage. If it becomes lower than approxi-
mately 6 V, the LED starts to fade. Although the unit continues to output the effects
sound, we recommend to replace the battery with a new one in order to fully
exihibt its best performance.
Inserting or removing a plug from the
input jack while the unit’s output is
connected to an amplifier/speakers that
is turned on can cause noise that can
damage the speakers. If the unit mal-
functions or behaves abnormally, cease
operation immediately and refer the
problem to the supplier. If the unit will
not be used for an extended period of
time, remove the battery to prevent
damage due to chemical leakage from
the battery. When the battery voltage
drops too low for proper operation the
effect sound may become weak, the
output level may drop, or no output will
be produced at all. Be sure to replace
the battery as soon as possible if such
symptoms occur.
