Unpack Generator
Set the carton on a rigid, flat surface.1.
Remove everything from carton except generator.2.
Open carton completely by cutting each corner from top to bottom. 3.
Ensure you have all included items prior to assembly. 4.
If items are damaged or missing, call 1-800-743-4115.
Leave generator on carton to install the wheels.5.
Attach Wheels
NOTICE: Wheels and support leg must be attached
prior to adding any fuel.
Tip generator so that engine end is up. 1.
Slide axle (e) through holes in generator frame. 2.
1
Slide a washer (g) and then a wheel (d) over axle (e). 3.
1
NOTE: Be sure to install wheel with raised hub inboard.
Place a washer (g) on axle (e) and then place an e-ring (c) in axle 4.
groove.
1
Install e-ring with pliers, squeezing from top of e-ring to bottom of 5.
axle.
1
Repeat steps 3 through 5 to secure second wheel.6.
Attach Support Leg
Tip generator so that engine side is down. 1.
Line up holes on support leg (f) with holes in generator frame. 2.
2
Attach support leg using 20 mm bolts (a) and flange nuts (b). 3.
Tighten with a 13 mm socket wrench.
2
Return generator to normal operating position (resting on wheels 4.
and support leg).
Turn Handle
Remove handle (A) from generator frame by pushing in pins (B) and 1.
pulling up on handle.
3
Turn handle around as shown and attach it to generator frame by 2.
pushing in pins (B) on generator frame. Slide handle down until pins
lock into holes on handle.
3
Verify Engine Oil Level and Add Fuel
NOTICE: Be sure you have attached wheels and support leg prior to this
step.
NOTICE: Before starting the engine, check oil level and ensure that
engine is serviced as described in the Operator’s Manual.
Move generator outdoors to a flat, level surface. 1.
NOTICE: DO NOT use unapproved gasoline such as E85.
NOTICE: DO NOT mix oil in gasoline.
NOTICE: DO NOT modify engine to run on alternate fuels.
The generator engine is shipped from the factory filled with oil. 2.
Before starting the engine, check oil level. (C)
4
Replace and fully tighten oil fill cap. 3.
Clean area around fuel fill cap (D), remove cap. 4.
5
Slowly add unleaded gasoline (E) to fuel tank (F). Be careful not 5.
to fill above the baffle (G). This allows adequate space for fuel
expansion as shown.
6
Replace fuel cap, and let any spilled fuel evaporate before starting 6.
engine.
Move Generator to
Safe Operating Location
Move generator outdoors to a flat, level surface, in an area that will 1.
not accumulate deadly exhaust gas. DO NOT place generator where
exhaust gas could accumulate and enter inside or be drawn into a
potentially occupied building. Ensure exhaust gas is kept away from
any windows, doors, ventilation intakes, or other openings that can
allow exhaust gas to collect in a confined area. Prevailing winds and
air currents should be taken into consideration when positioning
generator.
7
To reduce the risk of exhaust heat or exhaust gases igniting nearby 2.
combustible material, keep at least 5 feet (1.5 m) clearance on all
sides of generator, including overhead.
Start Generator
Make sure unit is on a level surface. Disconnect all electrical loads 1.
from the generator.
Ensure fuel valve (H) is in the ON position. 2.
8
Move choke lever (J) to CHOKE position. 3.
9
Push rocker switch (K) to ON. 4.
10
Pull starter rope handle slowly until resistance is felt. Then pull 5.
rapidly to overcome compression, prevent kickback and start
engine.
If engine starts, proceed to step 9. If engine fails to start, proceed to 6.
step 7.
Move choke lever to “Half” choke position, and pull recoil handle 7.
twice. If engine starts, proceed to step 9.
If engine fails to start, repeat step 7.8.
Slowly move choke lever (J) to Run” position. If engine falters, move 9.
choke lever to “Half” choke position until engine runs smoothly, and
then to “Run” position.
IMPORTANT: If engine floods, place choke lever in “Run” position and
repeat step 5 until engine starts.
Plug in Items to be Powered
Let engine stabilize and warm up for a few minutes 1.
after starting.
Ensure the circuit breaker (L) on the control panel is in the ON 2.
position.
11
Plug in and turn on the desired 120 Volt (M) and/or 240 Volt (N) AC, 3.
single phase, 60 Hz electrical loads.
11
IMPORTANT: When plugging into the 120 Volt (M) receptacles, plug
items to be powered in sequence as shown.
11
Push-to reset circuit breakers (P) are provided to protect the 120 4.
Volt receptacles and generator against electrical overload.
11
NOTICE: Exceeding generators wattage/amperage capacity can damage
generator and/or electrical devices connected to it.
Refer to 5. Do Not Overload Generator section of Operator’s Manual.
Shut Down Generator
Turn OFF and unplug all electrical loads from generator panel 1.
receptacles. NEVER start or stop engine with electrical devices
plugged in and turned ON.
Let engine run at no-load for several minutes to stabilize internal 2.
temperatures of engine and generator.
Push engine rocker switch (K) to “Off” position. 3.
10
Move fuel valve (H) to “Off” position. 4.
8
To prepare for storage, refer to Operator’s Manual.5.
WARNING: Failure to read and follow the
Operator’s Manual and all operating
instructions can result in death, bodily injury,
and/or property damage.
WARNING: Outdoor use ONLY. DO NOT start
or run engine indoors or in an enclosed
area, even if windows and doors are
open. Running engines give off carbon
monoxide, an odorless, poison gas that can cause
nausea, fainting or death.
WARNING: Fuel and its vapors are flammable and
explosive. Turn off engine and wait at least
2 minutes before refueling. Let spilled fuel
evaporate before starting engine. Always
allow space for fuel expansion.
WARNING: Contact with Muffler area can result
in serious burns. DO NOT touch hot parts
and AVOID hot exhaust gases.
WARNING: Generator produces hazardous
voltage and current. Contact with live parts
can cause electric shock or burn. DO NOT
operate under wet conditions. Transfer
Switch MUST be used when connecting generator to
a building’s electrical system.
Items Included:
Operator’s Manual (Not Shown)
g. Washer (4)
You Will Need:
• Utility knife • Pliers • Safety glasses • Socket wrench with 13 mm socket • Unleaded fuel
CAUTION: E-rings can cause eye injury. E-rings can spring
