Inspect the fuel tank(s), connections and fuel
vent for leaks, and proper t.
Stow all flammable items away from a
combustion source.
Clean any fuel spillages immediately.
Never smoke in the area where fuel is stored
or where the odor of fuel is present.
Always carry or store fuel in approved
containers.
Carry an approved re extinguisher, check
the charge bi-monthly and have it readily
accessible.
Know how to use the re extinguisher, and
inform passengers on the proper usage of the
re extinguishing equipment.

Swamping / Flooding
Swamping and/or ooding can be avoided by:
Checking the weather forecast before
departing.
Knowing your boat handling abilities and how
to deal with foul weather will increase your
safety.
Properly load your boat to prevent swamping
and/or ooding.
Always keep your bilge pump(s) in good
working order (i.e. clean and free of debris, check
hoses and connections).
Have an emergency plan (include survival kit
and other resources to guard your safety).
Safety kit should include: Audible and visual
signal devices, knife or other cutting tool,
extra clothing (should be readily accessible and
in water proof case if possible).
