Ei Electronics Ei167RC User manual

  • Hello! I am an AI chatbot trained to assist you with the Ei Electronics Ei167RC User manual. I’ve already reviewed the document and can help you find the information you need or explain it in simple terms. Just ask your questions, and providing more details will help me assist you more effectively!
  • What is the purpose of the Ei167RC Remote Siren?
What makes the Remote Siren Ei167RC different from the Ei161RC Smoke Alarm?
Where is the ideal place to install the Remote Siren Ei167RC?
How many units can be interconnected to the Remote Siren Ei167RC?
What type of Ei Smoke or Heat Alarm can be connected to the Remote Siren Ei167RC?
How do I check the Remote Siren Ei167RC?
How often should I check the Remote Siren Ei167RC?
How do I check the rechargeable battery in the Remote Siren Ei167RC?
The Remote Siren Ei167RC is designed to be interconnected to
an Ei Smoke or Heat Alarm (230V a.c. only) so that when fire is
sensed the Siren will sound. It is very similar to an Ei161RC
Smoke Alarm except that it contains no smoke sensor so it will not
respond to fire itself but relies on a signal on the interconnect wire
to make it sound. It is ideal for installation in areas such as
kitchens or corridors where an alarm needs to be given but where
a Smoke Alarm would be prone to nuisance alarms or excessive
contamination.
The Remote Siren Ei167RC must only be connected to the follow-
ing Ei Smoke Alarm and/or Heat Alarms: Ei141/144/146/151/154
/156/161RC/164RC/166RC. A maximum of 12 Units including the
Remote Siren can be interconnected. Do not connect to any other
type of Ei Smoke Alarm or to any other model produced by
another manufacturer. Doing this may damage the units and could
result in a shock or fire hazard.
The installation of an Ei167RC Remote Siren is exactly the same
as that for an Ei161RC Smoke Alarm (see details in the enclosed
Ei161RC instruction leaflet). Obviously, as the Ei167RC contains
no smoke sensor it need not be located at ceiling height and the
other siting restrictions applicable to the smoke sensor in the
Ei161RC Smoke Alarm need not be followed.
After installation and regularly thereafter check:
(1) The green power light is on showing the AC mains is
connected.
(2) Press the test button on the remote siren - the siren should
sound within 10 seconds and also the Smoke Alarm(s)
interconnected to it should sound. The red LED should flash once
a second.
(3) Press the test button on an interconnected Smoke Alarm - the
Remote Siren should sound within 10 seconds.
Your Remote Alarm should be checked regularly as above when
you are checking your Smoke Alarm.
The rechargeable battery in the Remote Alarm should be checked
in the same way as for the Ei161RC Smoke Alarm.
