Overview
Symantec™ Multi-tier Protection creates a protected
endpoint and messaging environment that is secure
against today’s complex data loss, malware, and spam
threats – controlling costs and managing risk. The
integrated product suite combines multiple advanced
endpoint security technologies for laptops, desktops,
mobile devices, and servers, and helps secure a wide
range of operating systems including Windows®, Linux®,
and Macintosh®. Symantec Multi-tier Protection also
leverages Symantec Brightmail™ technology to protect
email and IM against spam and viruses. It filters content,
helps ensure compliance with IT policies, and prevents
sensitive data from leaving the network.
Endpoint Security
Symantec Multi-tier Protection delivers more than
world-class, industry-leading antivirus and antispyware
signature-based protection. It also provides advanced
threat prevention that protect endpoints from targeted
attacks and attacks not seen before. It includes turnkey,
proactive technologies that automatically analyze
application behaviors and network communications to
detect and block suspicious activities, as well as
administrative control features that allow organizations
to deny specific device and application activities deemed
as high risk. This multilayered approach significantly
lowers risks, giving confidence that business assets are
protected. Multi-tier Protection’s endpoint security gives
organizations all the capabilities now, along with the
ability to enable individual components as needed.
Whether the attack is coming from a malicious insider or
is externally motivated, endpoints are protected.

Symantec Multi-tier Protection delivers effective and
accurate antispam and antivirus protection for both
inbound and outbound email and instant messaging
(IM). Multi-tier Protection’s messaging security
components can be deployed both at the messaging
server level on Microsoft® Exchange and Lotus Domino®
and at the gateway level with physical or virtual
appliance-based security. Advanced content filtering
and structured data matching helps organizations
control sensitive data, reduce the risks associated with
data loss, and meet regulatory compliance and
corporate governance demands. Multi-tier Protection is
simple to administer and catches more than 97% of
spam with less than one in a million false positives

Continuous automatic updates, global and self-learning
local IP reputation analysis, and comprehensive
reporting ensure that Multi-tier Protection effectively
and transparently responds to new spam threats to
