AXC-RCVI IR Receiver Interface Card
Product Information
The AMX AXC-RCVI (FIG. 1) is an Infrared (IR) interface card for use in
AMX Axcess CardFrames. The card receives AMX IR-format wired serial
data from either a AMX IRX-UM or IRX-SM IR sensor. Each AXC-RCVI
comes with one IRX-UM UniMount Sensor. Up to 8 IR sensors can be wired
to the card’s data and power interface. The AXC-RCVI can also accept data
from Video Link remote sensors.
The AXC-RCVI:
Receives AMX-format IR data from IR sensors.
Includes one IRX-UM IR Sensor.
May be used with up to 8 AMX IRX-UM or IRX-SM IR sensors.
Accepts data from Video Link remote sensors.
NOTE: The AXC-RCVI receives any IR data sent to it, which can interfere
with the intentional signal. To avoid interference, use separate AXC-RCVI
units for each IR transmitter in the system, or use only one IR transmitter at
a time.
For an additional charge, you may substitute an IRX-SM Swivel Mount sen-
sor for the IRX-UM.
Installation
1. Install the IRX-UM (or IRX-SM or Video Link IR sensor), as shown.
See Wiring.
2. Set the IR Validation jumper on the AXC-RCVI. See IR Validation
Jumper.
NOTE: Static electricity can damage electronic circuitry. Before handling
the card, discharge any accumulated static electricity from your body by
touching a grounded metal object.
3. Hold the card by the tab end and slide the card into the frame. Make
sure the card is correctly positioned in the guide slot.
4. Gently push the card in until it is firmly seated in the card connector
slot. You do not have to disconnect the power to the CardFrame when
you install the card.
5. Point the system’s AMX transmitter towards the IRX-UM and press a
button. The LED should be on when the card receives IR data. See IR
Data LED.
6. If the LED does not light:
Verify that the transmit LED, on the AMX transmitter, lights when you
press a button.
Check the wiring to sensors.
Verify that the AMX transmitter is configured for IR transmission.
Wiring
Wire the sensors as shown in FIG. 2.
IR Validation Jumper
The transmitter must send repetitions of data for the card to accept it as
valid data. Use the 2-position jumper (FIG. 3), JP1, to select the number of
valid IR data repetitions to be accepted. Position the jumper to select 2 or 3.
Your selection takes effect on system power-up or the reinsertion of the
card into CardFrame.
IR Data LED
LED CR1 is located at the front of the card. The red LED is on when the
AXC-RCVI receives IR data.
Programming
Axcess programming for the AXC-RCVI is the same as for other AMX IR
and Radio Frequency (RF) receivers. A valid IR code gives a PUSH that
includes the device number of the AXC-RCVI card and the IR channel
code. When the IR code stops, it gives a RELEASE.
For additional programming information, refer to the Axcess Programming
Language instruction manual.
