• Do not use any electrical appliance if its
cord or plug are deteriorated, or if the
appliance is not working correctly or is
damaged in any way. Take the appliance
to an authorised technical service for
overhaul, repair or adjustment.
• In case of breakdown and/or incorrect
functioning, switch off the appliance and
unplug it from the mains. Do not try to
repair it. Contact an authorised Technical
Assistance Service and insist on the use
of original spare parts and accessories.
• When the appliance is no longer useful,
after unplugging it from the mains you
should cut its cord so that it cannot be
used again.
• If the carafe breaks, the hot liquid
inside it could cause burns. To avoid
breaking the carafe, the following
precautions should be taken:
•
Do not allow all of the liquid to
evaporate. Do not heat the empty carafe.
• Do not use a carafe if it is cracked or if
its handle is loose or deteriorated.
Replace it as soon as you notice any
signs of wear. A crack or chip to the
glass could cause the whole carafe to
break, or glass particles could enter the
liquid.
• Do not clean the carafe with abrasive
scouring pads or cleaners as these could
scratch and deteriorate the glass.
• The carafe is designed for use with this
coffee maker only. Do not place the
carafe on or near hot surfaces (stoves,
ranges, cooker hotplates, hot ovens,
microwaves, etc.)
• Do not stand the carafe on wet or cold
surfaces.
• Avoid any rough handling or knocks.

Figures 4 - 11
Making coffee
•
Open the lid (a) and fill the tank with cold
water up to the desired level (
4). Close
the lid. Do not exceed the maximum tank
level of 10 cups.
• Turn the filter basket (c) to the left to
insert the filter in the filter holder (
b) (5).
• Place a filter (size 4 or 1 x 4) in the filter
basket. Before placing the filter you
should bend the filter arm as shown in the
figure (
6).
• Place the desired amount of ground
coffee in the filter (
7). We recommend one
level dessert spoonful of ground coffee
per cup. After using the coffee maker
several times you will know how much to
use according to your own taste.
• Close the filter basket by turning it to the
right until it clicks into place (
8).
• Place the carafe (e) with the lid fitted to it
(d) on the warming plate (
f) (9). Ensure
the carafe lid opens the anti-drip valve ( ).
• Plug the appliance in and press the "I"
button (
h) (10). The two pilot lights will
come on.
• The water will begin to filter through the
coffee and flow into the carafe. When the
coffee is ready it is kept hot by the
warming plate. If you do not want to keep
the coffee hot, switch off the coffee maker
using the "0" button (
g). The two pilot
lights will switch off.
• If you wish to serve a cup of coffee before
the coffee making process has finished,
remove the carafe from the warming plate,
pour the cup of coffee and then place the
soapy water. Rinse and dry them carefully
and replace them. To remove the carafe lid,
pull it upwards and then slide it to the left or
right as shown in the figure (
3). After
cleaning, fit the lid back on again and press
it down. These accessories can also be
washed in the dishwasher.
To clean the inside of the coffee maker, run
it twice without any coffee in the filter. For
details of this procedure, see the
instructions in the "Making coffee" section.
