alternative plugs a 15 amp fuse must be fitted
either in the plug or adaptor or at the main fuse
box.
APPLIANCES WITHOUT FITTED PLUG
FITTING A PLUG - IMPORTANT
The wires in the mains lead are coloured in
accordance with the following code:
GREEN & YELLOW : EARTH
BLUE : NEUTRAL
BROWN : LIVE
As the colours in the mains lead of this
appliance may not correspond with the
coloured markings identifying the terminals in
your plug, proceed as follows:
The wire which is coloured GREEN & YELLOW
must be connected to the terminal in the plug
which is marked with the letter ‘E’ or by the
earth symbol or coloured green or green
and yellow. The wire which is coloured BLUE
must be connected to the terminal which is
marked with the letter ‘N’ or coloured black.
The wire which is coloured BROWN must be
connected to the terminal which is marked
with the letter ‘L’ or coloured red.
This appliance is manufactured to conform to
the Low Voltage Electrical Equipment (Safety)
Regulations 1989 and is designed to comply
with BS 3456. It complies with the requirements
of the EEC Directive (89/336/EEC).
- Your appliance is intended solely for
domestic, indoor use.
- Unplug your appliance when you are not
using it or when you are cleaning it.
- Never unplug the appliance from the
socket by pulling on the cable.
- Do not use your appliance if it is not working
correctly or if it has been damaged. If this
happens, contact an approved Moulinex
service centre (see list in service booklet).
- Any intervention other than cleaning and
normal maintenance by the customer must
be carried out by an approved Moulinex ser-
vice centre.
- Never put the appliance, the cable or plug in
water or any other liquid.
- Do not allow the power cable to hang down
within reach of children.
- The power cord must never be allowed to
be close to or in contact with the hot parts of
your appliance, near to a source of heat or
to rest on sharp edges.
- If the power cable or the plug are damaged,
do not use the appliance. To avoid any risk,
these must be replaced by an approved
Moulinex service centre (see list in service
booklet).
- Do not use the coffee jug over a flame or on
the hotplate of an electric cooker.
- Do not refill your coffee maker with water if
it is still hot (allow it to cool down for about
10 minutes).
- Do not put hot water in the tank.
- Do not use the coffee maker with the water
tank lid open.
- For your own safety, use only the Moulinex
accessories and spare parts which are
suitable for your appliance.
Using your appliance
- Before using it for the first time, rinse your
coffee maker by running it without putting in
any ground coffee.
You can prepare 7 small or 5 large cups of
coffee and keep your coffee warm on the
hotplate.
- Fill the water tank (A) with cold water, using
the water level indicator as a guide.
- Swing the filter holder (C) and pour your
ground coffee into a nº 2 filter positioned in
the filter support. Replace the filter holder.
- Place the coffee jug, with its lid on, on the
hot plate (F).
- Turn on by pressing the switch (E). The
indicator light shows that your coffee maker
is now heating up.
. A drip-stop system allows you to remove
the coffee jug long enough to pour yourself
a cup of coffee during preparation. Quickly
replace the coffee jug to prevent the filter
holder from overflowing. Remember to keep
the lid on the jug to engage the drip-stop
system.
Maintenance
. Descaling (every 40 uses)
To descale your appliance, you can use:
. either a sachet of descaler, first diluting it
with 2 large cups of water.
. or two cups of white wine vinegar.
- Pour the preparation into the tank and run
the coffee maker (without coffee).
- Allow the equivalent of one cupful to run into
the jug, then stop.
- Allow the descaling solution remaining in the
coffee maker to work for 1 hour.
- Start the coffee maker again in order to
complete the run-through.
- Rinse the coffee maker by running it 2 or 3
times with fresh water
