3. Open the window during the burn-in phase that now follows.
4. Close the appliance, plug the mains plug of the appliance into an electrical
outlet (220-240 V~, 50 Hz). The red operating indicator light is illuminated
and shows that the appliance is in operation.
5. The green indicator light will be illuminated as soon as the pre-heating phase
ends.
6. Heat up the appliance for approx. 10 minutes.
7. After pre-heating the appliance there may already be visible traces of use;
however, these do not affect the function of the appliance and do not con-
stitute grounds for a complaint.
8. Before using the waffle cup maker for the first time, lightly grease both bak-
ing surfaces with a brush with a heat-resistant shortening, (e. g. margarine).
9. If a mild odour becomes perceptible after heating up your new appliance for
the first time, it is completely harmless.
10. Caution: We always recommend that you not eat the very first waffle cups pre-
pared in the appliance; through them away. For each subsequent use of the appli-
ance, naturally this is no longer necessary!
PREPARING WAFFLE CUPS
1. Close the appliance, plug the mains plug of the appliance into an electrical
outlet (220-240 V~, 50 Hz). The red operating indicator light is illuminated
and shows that the appliance is in operation.
2. Note: Before preparing the first waffle cups, lightly grease both baking sur-
faces with a brush with a heat-resistant shortening, e. g. oil) or spray the
backing surfaces with a non-stick baking spray. Then repeat this procedure
frequently, however it is not necessary to grease the baking surfaces before
each baking process. Brushing the backing surfaces frequently with shorten-
ing facilitates removal of the finished waffle cups.
3. Wait until the green indicator light is illuminated. This takes approx. 3 to
8 minutes. Note concerning the baking signal lights: Whenever the green
light is illuminated, this means that the proper temperature has again been
reached, however it does not mean that the waffle cups are ready. The bake
time of the waffle cups depends on the batter used and your personal taste.
Consequently, before removing the waffle cups, please check whether they
are done the way you want them.
4. Open the appliance.
5. Now ladle the batter (approx. 30 ml per batter recess, this is about the size
of a small sauce ladle) into the two lower batter recesses with a ladle. When
closing the appliance the batter is distributed uniformly. Always ensure that

you correctly dose the amount of batter. If you use too little batter the upper
part of the appliance will not sit correctly. If you use too much batter the
excess batter will overflow and adhere on the appliance and the countertop.
Caution: Always ladle batter into both batter recesses to prevent appliance
damage!
6. After ladling in the batter, close the appliance immediately so that the waffle
cups brown uniformly on the top and bottom. Wait approximately 5 seconds
and firmly press the lid down again, and close the handle with the closure
clip.
7. Ensure that the closure clip is properly engaged.
Caution: The appliance lid is extremely hot! When closing the lid hot steam
can escape from the appliance.
8. The baking process takes approx. 3 to 7 minutes.
9. After opening the appliance please wait for about 20 seconds before remov-
ing the bowl from the mould.
10. Remove the waffle cups, e.g. with a fork. When removing the waffle cups,
always ensure that you do not scratch the non-stick coating! After the end of
the baking process the bowl is still quite soft. Let the bowl cool down and harden
completely before filling it.
11. After taking out the waffle cups the appliance can immediately be refilled
with batter. The green indicator light will again go out.
12. To make additional waffle cups, close the appliance and wait until the green
indicator light is illuminated. Continue with steps 1 to 9 until the batter is
used up.
13. Allow the finished waffle cups to cool slightly before using them.
14. After baking, unplug the mains plug. The device is not switched off until it
is unplugged.
Caution: After use, the appliance still remains extremely hot for a longer pe-
riod of time! Danger of burn injuries!

RECIPES
When preparing recipes with rock sugar or cane sugar, dissolve this sugar in the
amount of water specified in the recipe. To do this, heat the water, add the sugar
and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Because the water evaporates when heat-
ing it may be necessary to add a little more water. However the amount of water
required in this regard depends on how long the sugar solution will be heated.
Then allow the sugar water to cool. Stir all ingredients into a smooth batter.
If not specified otherwise, we use white flour, type 405.
Let the stirred batter sit for approx. 1 hours until all bubbles have disappeared
from the batter. Instead of wheat flour you can also use gluten-free flours. For
example, we have baked waffle cups with „Schär Mix C – gluten-free cake and
cookie flour“. The amount of flour remains the same.
Your personal taste determines the bake time and the amount of batter you use.
You will need approx. 1 sauce ladle of batter (approx. 30 ml) per waffle bowl.
Ideally always use the same ladle when making waffles to obtain uniform good
results. If your waffle cups are not crispy enough, check whether the green indi-
cator light is illuminated when ladling in the batter.

The less batter you use the crispier your waffle cups will be. Let the bowl cool
down and harden completely before filling it. If you want to use stevia instead of
sugar, simply replace the TBSP specification for sugar with a tsp specification
for stevia (e.g. replace 5 TBSP sugar with 5 tsp stevia; attention – in this case
the batter will be slightly thinner). Honey or syrup is used like sugar. When us-
ing honey or syrup the sweetening effect is not as strong, however browning of
the waffles is more pronounced. If you use sugar substitutes, you should turn
over the waffle maker after 3 to 4 minutes, because the dough does not rise as
much as it does with sugar. By turning you achieve uniform browning on both
sides (turn the appliance 180 degrees so that the underside is facing upward).

With a heaping tsp of dried oregano this makes pizza waffle bowls. You can add
your favourite seasoning or herbs in dried form. Please do not ever use fresh
herbs; due to the moisture content the waffle bowls will not be crispy.
Oat waffles
65 g melted butter, 450 ml cold water, 1 egg, 1 TBSP granulated vegetable
broth, 200 g white flour, type 405, 75 g wholegrain oatmeal
Mix all ingredients into a smooth batter. This batter must not stand before baking.
Baking time approx. 4-5 minutes.
Tip: For wholemeal waffles you can also omit the oatmeal and use fine-ground
wholemeal flour.
Gluten-free, savoury waffles
65 g melted butter, 450 ml cold water, 1 egg, 1 TBSP granulated vegetable
broth, 400 g gluten-free flour (e.g. Schär Mix C)
Mix all ingredients into a smooth thick batter. Do not let the batter stand; start
baking immediately. Baking time approx. 4-5 minutes.
Vegan waffle cups
120 ml melted vegan margarine, 200 g cane sugar, 400 g soy milk, 1 pinch salt,
1 TBSP ground cinnamon, 1 TBSP ground cardamom, 1 TPBSP ground anise,
250 g whole wheat flour
Attention, this batter becomes sticky very quickly, consequently preparation of
the vegan waffle cups is not recommended for novice cooks. The baking plates
must be greased before each baking process. Nevertheless, if the appliance
sticks together, with one hand firmly grasp a support foot (caution, the appli-
ance is very hot!) and with the other hand open the lid of the appliance as usual.
