To reduce the risk of injury when loading items to be

washed, sharp or pointed itemsshould be located with

the handles up.Also load sharp items so they are not

likely to damagethe door seal.

Do nottouch the heatingelement on the bottom of the

tub during or at the completionof a cycle. It will be hot.

Useonly detergentsandrinse additivesdesignedfor an

automatic dishwasher. Never use soap, laundry deter-

gent, or hand washing detergent in your dishwasher.

Do not sit, stand on or abuse the door or dish racks of

the dishwasher.

Under certain conditions, hydrogen gas may be pro-

duced in a hotwater systemthat has notbeen used for

two weeks or more. Hydrogen gasis explosive. If the

hot water systemhas not been used for such a period,

turn on all hotwater faucets and letthe water flow from

each forseveral minutes. This will releaseanyaccumu-

lated hydrogen gas. As the gas is flammable do not

smoke or usean open flame during this process.

Do not wash plastic items unless marked "dishwasher

safe"orthe equivalent.For plasticitemsnot so marked.

Scrape off tomato-basedfood soils

Remove certainfoods (such asmus-

tard, mayonnaise, lemon juice, vine-

gar, salt or dressings)from stainless

steel flatware as soon as possible,

These foods may cause rusting and

pitting if allowed to remain in contact

with the surface for an extended peri-

od oftime.

Place all items in the racks so they

are separatedand facing center.

Itemscan be centeredbehind a single

tine or loaded at an angle to maximize

space.

Load itemssothey do not restoverthe

top of the wash tower.

For best dishwashing results follow these

guidelines to determine the best arrange-

ment for your items.

10 Place Settings

Glasses, cups, stemware, light-weight

plastics, small plates, bowls, pans, long-

handled utensils etc.can be loaded inthis

rack, Do notload glassesover thetines.

The Stack-Rack on the right side of the

upperrackfoldsup or downforloadingflex-

ibility. Fold it down to hold long-handled

knives,spatulasand spoons or short items

likecups orjuiceglasses.Folditupfor taller

itemslikeglasses,bowls,plates,etc.

The Vari-Lock :" Snugger(select models)

on the left secures lightweight items in

place, it can be adjusted by grasping the

wavy wire and rotating itleft to snug items

against the outerrack or to the rightto rest

on top oflight items.Do not load items on

top of the wire.

Thewavy wireonthe Vari-Lock _"Snugger

(select models) and the Stack-Rack is

designedto hold stemware in place. Taller

stemware will fit better on the right side as

the upper rack is deeper on this side.

ADJUSTABLEUPPERRACK

The Adjustable Upper Rack can be

raised to accommodatetaller plates, plat-

ters, pans,etc. loaded inthe lower rack.

To raisethe rack:

Pull the rack fully out.

10 Place Settings

Back

Convertible Tines in the back, right cor-

ner can be adjusted to provide narrow

spacing for loading plates or wide spacing

for loading deep bowls, pots or pans. Flip

tines up for narrow spacing or down for

wider spacing.

With the Stack-Rack (selectmodels) shelf

raised, thin items like cookie sheets or

pizza pans may be placed along the left

side, With the shelf down, two levels of

glassesand cups can be loaded.

Positioning the Fold-Away" Tines (select

models) flat in the back, left corner pro-

vides convenient loading space for large,

bulky items like pots and pans or mixing

bowls.

REMOVABLEUTENSIL

BASKET(Design varies by model)

For best cleaning results, prevent items

from nesting together by placing some

items in the basket with handles up and

some with handles down. Load knives,

handlesup,through the slots inthe hinged

covered section(s) (whenclosed).

Be sure that thin, finely pointed items do

not extend throughthe basket. This could

block the lowerwash arm.

Use this supplementalbasket inthe upper

rack for loading miscellaneous items and

utensils. This is also a safe

SPLIT& FITUTENSIL

BASKET(Select models)

The split silverwarebasketcanbe separat-

ed and placed in several locations in the

bottom rack. Hold the basketfirmly along

the sides. Follow the unlock direction

arrows imprinted on the basket and slide

the basketapartuntilitsplitsintotwo. Load

flatware and

utensils into

both sections

or just one, depend-

upon yourload.

Theupperrackcanberemovedwhentall

oroversizeditemsneedtobeloadedinto

thelowerrack.

TO REMOVE:

Roll the upper rack 1/3 to I/2 of the

way out.

Removethe plasticrack stop from the

end of each track. To remove each

plastic rack stop, push inward

(towards the rack) on the ridged area

of the rack stop. The rack stop will

snap open and can be easily removed

by pulling straight out. Take care to

support the track while removing rack

stops.

Roll the rack all the way out of the

track and remove from the dishwash-

er.

Reverse the above procedure to

replace the upper rack into the dish-

washer.

Rack Sto

For optimal cleaning and drying

results, hot water is necessary. The

incomingwater temperature should be

120-140oF (49-60° C) to properly acti-

vate thedetergent and meltgreasyfood

soils.

Tocheck the incoming water temperature,

turn on the hot water faucet nearest the

dishwasherand letit run into a glass in the

sink. Place a candy thermometer in the

glass and check the temperature once it

has stopped rising. If the temperature is

below 120° F(49° C),havea qualifiedper-

son raise the water heaterthermostat set-

ting.

Beforestartingthe dishwasher,turn on the

hot water faucet and let it run until the

water ishot. This assures that the initialfill

of water is hot.

Use a detergent designed specifically for

use inan automatic dishwasher.Be sure it

isfresh and stored in a cool, dry place(not

underthe sink).

RECOMMENDEDAMOUNT

Toolittle detergentresultsinpoor cleaning,

hard water filming/spotting and poor dry=

ing. Too much detergent can cause per-

manent etching/cloudiness,

The amount of detergent to use is deter-

mined by the hardness of the water and

soil levelofthe load. Referto thefollowing

chart for detergent usage recommenda-

tions.

Do not use detergent with Rinse Only.

In extremely hard water conditions (13

grains per gallon or more*), it is difficultto

achieve good resultswith any dishwasher.

compartment.

Regular use of a rinse aid improves

drying, reduces spotting and filming,

and reduces moisture left on the dish-

washer interior.

An automatic rinse aid dispenser is locat-

ed next to the detergent cups. The win-

dow next to the dispenser cap indicates

when the rinse aid reservoir needs to be

refilled. When the level of rinse aid is

belowthe indicatormarksand thewindow

is nearly clear, it is time to refill the dis-

penser. Checkthe dispensermonthly,

To add rinse aid to the dispenser,turn the

cap counterclockwise to open. Remove

the cap and pour liquid rinse aid into the

opening. The amount of rinse aid dis-

pensed during the cycle is adjustable by

movingthe leverinsidethe reservoirarea.

Use setting "1"for soft water. Adjust it up

to the"MAX"settingfor hardwater, Setthe

leveranywherebetweentheseamountsas

needed. Replacethecap andturn itclock-

wiseto close.

Auto Clean is recommended because it

selects the number of fills and wash time

best suited for the soil level of each load.

NORMALWASH

Medium cycle for average food soils.

Depending on the number of fills, water

on the numberof fills, water usage ranges

from 4 to 6 gallons.

RINSEONLY

Rinses dishes being hetd until there is a

full load.Controls odors. 2 gailons.

perature and selected options.

TOUGHSCRUBTM PLUS(select

models)

Select Tough ScrubTM Plus (select mod-

els) when washing loads with hard-to-

remove food soils. Tough Scrub= Plus

can be selected with any cycle (except

RinseOnly). Dependingon which cycleis

being used, selecting Tough Scrub" Plus

adds fills, heat and/or wash time to the

wash cycle.

For baked-on,dried.onsoils, select Heavy

Wash along with the Tough Scrub= Plus

option.

SANITIZE

Select Sanitize with Auto Clean (select

models), Heavy, Normal,or Light Wash

to sanitize dishware. At the end of the

cycle, when the cycle monitor recognizes

that the proper conditionshave been met,

the SANITIZED light illuminates.

EXTRARINSE(selectmodels)

Select Extra Rinse to add a rinse to the

cycle. An extra rinse helps to improve

results in hard water situations. The extra

rinse is already built into the cycle when

Heavy Wash isselected.

HEATEDDRY

Select Heated Dry to turn on the heating

element during dry for enhanced drying

results. When Heated Dry isnot selected,

towel drying of some items such as plastic

and teflon may be necessary and more

moisture may be noticed adhering to the

dishwasherinterior.With either dryoption,

it is normalto notice vapor escaping from

the door vent.

DRAIN/OFF

Todrainthe dishwasherandthen turn itoff,

pressDrain!Off once. PressDrain/Offtwice

to turnthedishwasheroffwithoutdraining.

TheSANITIZED(selectmodels) lightillumi-

nates at the end of the cycle when condi-

tionshavebeen metto achievesanitization.

I When Sanitize is selected,

cycles are monitored to assure

sanitization. Unusually lowwater

temperaturewill prevent the san-

itizationprotocolfrom beingsatis-

fied and the SANITIZED lightwitl

not illuminate at the end of the

cycle.

The CLEAN light illuminatesat the end of

the cycle and remains lit until the door

has been open for 30 seconds continu-

ously.

The DRYlight illuminatesduring the entire

dry period and goes outwhen the cycle is

completed.

The WASH light illuminatesduring all rinse

and wash portions of the cycle.

The HEATING DELAY light illuminates

when the cycle is being extended to heat

the water.

The CLEAN and SANITIZED (select mod-

els) indicator lights will not re-illuminate

after a power failure until after the next

cycle is run.

The Delay/Resume option can be used to

automaticallystart the cycleat a latertime,

such as during off-peakhours for reduced

energy cost or to reduce daytime heat

buildup in the home.

TO SET UPA DELAY:

1. Select the appropriate cycle and

optionsfor the load.

2. Press theDelay/Resume pad untitthe

desired amount of delay time (I to £

hours) is selected. The delay time will

begin counting down when the pad is

released.

3. The DelaylResume indicator light will

remain lit until the delay time has

counted down,

4. The cycle will automatically start as

soon as the delay time expires,

| If Delay/Resume is chosenwith-

out selecting a cycle and/or

options,the dishwasherwillselect

the last cycle used. (It will not

rememberthe Rinse Only cycle,)

TO CANCELA DELAY:

Wait at least 2 seconds, then press the

Delay/Resume pad again. The indicator

light will go out and the cycle witl start or

resume immediately.

The control touchpads can be locked to

prevent unwanted use. If this feature is

activated between cycles, the dishwasher

cannot be operated untit the controls are

unlocked. If desired, the controls can be

locked after a cycleor delay has started,

in" after I minute.

unlatch the door.

2. Wait for the water circulationto stop.

3. Open the door and add the item.

4. Close and latch the door.

push it again to restart the dish-

washer.

5, After five seconds, the cycle resumes

automaticallyatthepointofinterruption.
