Thepivotshaftontheblenddoorsfailafteryearsofuse,causingtheHVACsystemtonotreacttotemperaturechanges

ononeorbothsidesofthecabin.Thereare2waystorepairabrokenblenddoor.Onewayinvolvescuttingapanelout

ofthesideoftheHVACunit.Thesecondwayrequiresremovingtheentiredashandsteeringcolumnfromthevehicle.

TheseinstructionswillonlyshowhowtorepairtheblenddoorsviacuttingtheHVACunit.Refertoafactoryservice

manualforinstructionsonrepairingtheblenddoorsbyremovingthedash.



1. Disconnectnegativebatteryterminal.

2. Disconnectthehydraulicarmfromthesideof

theglovebox(SeeFigure1).

3. Removethegloveboxbyfirstunseatingthe2

clipsatthetopofit(SeeFigure2).

4. Unclipthe3clipsthatthegloveboxpivotson.

5. Disconnectthetemperaturesensorandblend

doormotorplug.

6. RemovetheblenddoormotorfromtheHVAC

unit(SeeFigure3).Retainforlateruse.

7. Removetheretainingscreworcliptotheright

ofwherethetemperaturesensor(SeeFigure

3).Retainforlateruse.

8. RemovethespindlefromtheHVACunit.Itis

locatedbehindtheblenddoormotor.

9. MarktheareasthatneedtobecutintheHVAC

unit(SeeFigure3)usingagreasepencilor

whitemarker.

10. Usingadremeltool,carefullycutthelines

markedontheHVACunit.Becarefulnottocut

outsideofthemarkedlineontherightasthe

heatercoreandevaporatorcorearemounted

closetowherethecutwillbemade.The

bottomoftheboxdoesnotneedtobecutasit

hasatongue‐and‐groovejoint.Removethecut

portionoftheHVACunitandretainforlater

use.

11. Removeanddiscardtheouterblenddoor.

12. Cuttheplasticpanelseparatingtheinnerandouterblenddoorenoughtoremovetheinnerblenddoor.A3”

tallsectionisusuallyenoughtoremoveit.

13. Removeanddiscardtheinnerblenddoor.

14. CleanupanyplasticshavingsinoraroundtheHVACunit.

15. Ensuretheinnerblenddoorspindleisintheproperoperatingrange.Thekeyshouldbebetweenthedoor’s

openandclosedposition.IftheblenddoorisnotwithinthisrangeadjusttheHVACcontrolsuntilitiswithinthe

desiredrange.

16. Applyasmallamountofgreasetobothendsofthereplacementaluminumblenddoorandinstallintotheinner

positionintheHVACunit.

17. InstallthereplacementplasticblenddoorandspindleintotheouterpositionintheHVACunit.Theribinthe

doorshouldfacedownward.

18. CleantheareaoftheHVACunitaroundwherethepanelwasremovedwithanalcoholwipe.

19. Re‐installthepanelthatwascutbackintotheHVACunitusingthesuppliedpatches.Ensurethatitisanairtight

seal.

20. InstallthescreworclipthatheldthepaneltotheHVACunit.

21. Installthetemperaturesensor.

22. Installtheblenddoormotor.Thespindlemayneedtoberotatedtoallowittoengageintotheblenddoor

motor.

23. ConnectthenegativebatteryterminalandensureproperoperationoftheHVACunit.

24. Installthegloveboxbyfirstseatingthe3pivotclipsfollowedbythe2clipsatthebackoftheglovebox.

25. Installthehydraulicarmontothesideoftheglovebox.


