electrician exchange it.
Do not move the induction hotplate
during cooking or with hot cookware
on top of it. Never move the device
by pulling on the power cable.
Never use the device when it does
not function properly, shows dam-
age or in case it was dropped.
Do not leave the device unattended
while in operation. Keep children
and other incompetent persons
away from the device: The stainless
steel surface can become hot.
Only qualified experts may perform
repair and maintenance on the de-
vice, using original replacement and
accessory parts.
Do not touch the hot surface of the
ceramic field. Note: the induction
hotplate does not heat up itself
during cooking, but the temperature
of the cookware is transfered to the
hotplate!
Do not place any (empty) metal
kitchen utensils, cookware or pan
lids, knives or other metal objects
on the hotplate. These may heat up
when the device is turned on.
Do not heat up any unopened tins

even if the damage is slight, remove
the plug from the electric socket and
contact our customer service.
To prevent overheating, do not
place aluminium foil or metal plates
on the appliance.
Do not insert any tools into the ven-
tilation openings. WARNING! This
can result in electric shocks.
If you are using an extension lead,
it must be intended for outdoor use
and be rated at 10 A/230 V.
Use as short an extension lead as
possible. Do not connect two or
more extension leads to each other
Always check that the electrical
socket supplies the correct voltage
(230 V). The socket must also be
suitable for equipment with a power
rating of 3400 W.
This appliance meets the technical
standards and safety requirement
for electrical equipment.
INSTALLATION
This barbecue should only be used

INDUCTION HOTPLATE
Model: S2-A (CE/EMC)
Temperature range: 60 – 240 °C
Power consumption: 3400 W
Power supply: 220 – 240 V ~ 50 Hz
Timer: 0 – 180 minutes
Sound level < 70 dB(A).
With induction hotplates, an electric
voltage is applied on a conductor spool
beneath the glass ceramic surface.
This creates magnetic fields, which
directly heat up the bottom of the
cookware through a physical effect.
This means saving time and energy,
because contrary to common hotplates,
the cookware is heated up, not the
heating element and the glass ceramic
surface.
GENERAL USE
Plug the power plug into a suitable
outlet.
Plug into a suitable socket.
The light on the On/Off switch will
come on. The temperature is shown
on the display. If the temperature of
the cooking surface is below 50 °C
the display shows “-L-”. If the tem-
perature is above 50 °C, the display
registers “-H-”. When you hear a
signal, the appliance is in standby
mode (ready for immediate use).
Place suitable cookware (steel, cast
iron or enamelled cast iron with a
flat base and a diameter of 12 to
16 cm) in the centre of the hotplate.
Press the ON/STANDBY switch
to switch the appliance on. The
LED display disappears and the

TIPS ON USING YOUR BARBECUE
To prevent the appliance from going
into standby mode because of over-
heating, we recommend that you
set the temperature to 180°C using
the “TEMP” function.
You can use pots and pans with a
flat base and a diameter between
16 and 26 cm. The material of the
pot or pan must be steel, enamelled
cast iron or magnetic stainless
steel. If your cookware is alu-
minium, copper, glass, ceramic or
non-magnetic stainless steel, it will
not heat up.
You can easily check this by investigat-
ing whether a magnet will adhere to
your cookware. If it does, you can go
ahead.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Before cleaning, remove the plug from
the socket and wait until the appliance
has cooled down:
Use a non-abrasive, non-caustic
cleaning agent and a damp cloth.
Ensure that no water can get into
the appliance.
Do not immerse the appliance in
water or other liquids.
Do not use any cleaning products
containing benzene, which can
damage the plastic parts of the
housing.
Do not use inflammable or alkaline
materials near the appliance. This
can reduce the lifetime of the appli-
ance.
Avoid using a pan with a base
which could scratch the cooking
surface. Although this will not affect
the operation of your appliance, it
will damage its finish.
Use a vacuum cleaner to remove
dirt from the fan openings.
To clean the stainless steel surface,
use Barbecook® All Cleaner.
Ensure that the appliance has been
properly cleaned before storing it in
a dry place.
Clean the induction hotplate to pre-
vent colour fading or scorch marks.
AFTER USE
Press the ON/OFF switch to switch
off the appliance As soon as you
remove the pan, the appliance goes
into standby mode. After a minute, it
switches itself off.
STORAGE
To get many years of service out
of your barbecue: Always store the
electrical appliance indoors when not
in use. Cover the barbecue with the
barbecook® cover if it is to be stored
outdoors.
Special precautionary measures for the
stainless steel parts
(failing to follow these instructions will
invalidate the warranty)
When cleaning stainless steel or
chromed parts, it is best to avoid ag-
gressive, abrasive or metal cleaners.
Use non-aggressive cleaners and give
them time to act. Always use always a
soft sponge or cloth. Rinse thoroughly
and dry well before you store the appli-
ance.
To prevent the formation of rust on
stainless steel components, avoid any
contact with chlorine, salt or iron. The
environment in which your appliance is
used can adversely affect its lifetime.
Less suitable locations include the
coast, near railway lines and the vicinity
of a swimming pool.
