YARDGARD 889220A is a plastic snow fence designed to provide effective snow drift control along roads, in parks, lots, and other locations where snow control is needed. It is 4 feet tall and available in 50 foot and 100 foot lengths. The fence is porous, which allows high winds to pass through it, causing the wind to lose energy and velocity. This results in the formation of snow drifts behind or in front of the fence, keeping snow off the designated area. The fence should be set back from the road a distance of 35 times its height, which is 140 feet for the YARDGARD 889220A.

Installation Instructions & Applications for Plastic Snow Fence
YardGard Plastic Snow Fence provides effective snow drift control along roads, in parks, lots,
and other locations where snow control is needed. YardGard Snow Fence is 4 feet tall and
available in 50 foot and 100 foot lengths. It is recommended that T-Posts are used to ensure the snow fence
is sturdy and will withstand occasional high winds and snow. The purpose of a snow fence is to keep as much
snow off the designated area as possible. Requirements for snow fencing located along roadways may differ
by municipality or by state. Always check local codes before proceeding.

Snow Fence Installation
The most common use of a snow fence is in keeping as much snow off a roadway as possible for safety and cost
efficiency. Drifts that would normally fall on a roadway now form at the location of the snow fence. Snow fence forces
the wind to go around and through the fence, causing the wind to lose energy and velocity. The snow particles
suspended in the fast-moving air come to rest as the speed slows. This forms a drift behind or in front of the snow fence.
The height of the fence, and amount of snowfall common to the area, determines how much snow a fence can trap. See
the illustration below.
Solid fences do not collect snow efficiently. The snow fence needs to be porous. Porosity is
key to allowing high winds to pass through the fence. Snow fences are typically set back from
the road a distance of 35 times the height of the fence. YardGard fence is 4 feet tall and
should be set back 35x4=140 feet from the road shoulder.
Determine the length of snow fence required for the application. Starting at one end, install a
6 foot T-Post, 1.5 feet into the ground with a Post Driver. Walk to the other end and set
another T-Post in the ground with a Post Driver. Stretch a string between the two to establish
a straight line for the reaming T-Posts. T-Posts should be set every 5-6 feet along the fence
line. This will help determine the number of T-Posts required.
Once all the T-Posts are set, secure one end of the Snow Fence to the first T-Post using plastic ties. Leave a gap of 5-6”
between the bottom of the fence and the ground. Unroll the Snow Fence along the entire fence line. Secure the Snow
Fence to each successive T-Post while pulling on the fence enough to reduce eliminate fence sagging. Continue until the
final T-Post is reached, securing the Snow Fence with plastic ties in a similar fashion. Cut off the excess Snow Fence
with a common pair of scissors.
