INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION
HOT PLATE HEATING ELEMENT
(COIL-TYPE) p/n 50293 & 50514
Applicable to Wells countertop and built-in coil style H- hotplates,
and to combo and ventless equipment using coil style H- hotplates.
To install a new element in an existing appliance:
1. Disconnect appliance from electric power and allow to cool.
Disconnect and remove old element.
2. Cut screw-terminal ends from connecting wires.
a. Cut ground wire and one power wire at terminal
b. Cut the other power wire 1" from terminal.
NOTE: Cut off no more than 1" of the existing wire.
3. Strip 5/8" of insulation from ends of existing ground and power
wires.
4. Mount new element.
5. Connect the pigtail wires of new element to existing wiring us-
ing provided wire nuts.
a. Be sure to reconnect ground wire to green/yellow wire of
new element.
b. Connect longest power wire of pigtail to shortest existing
power wire.
c. Connect shortest power wire of pigtail to longest existing
power wire.
6. Reconnect appliance to electric power and test for proper
operation.

Do not remove hi-temp tape from
wiring pigtail.
