NOTE:ThefollowingstepsassumethePowerVaultDLBackuptoDiskappliancehasbeensetupandconfiguredfor
operationutilizingtheautomaticdiskprovisioning.Inaddition,theappliancewillneedtoberestartedduringthis
processtocompletetheinstallationofCPS.
BackupExecContinuous ProtectionServerrequiresdriveletter
accesswheninstalledonthePowerVaultDLBackup
toDiskAppliance.AspartofnormalapplianceoperationsBackupExecwillautomaticallyconfigureandmanagethe
disksattachedtothesystem.However,drivelettersarenotassignedtothevirtualdisksinthesystemaspartofthis
process.Inorderto
supporttheinstallationofBackupExecContinuousProtectionserver,atleastonedriveletter
mustbeavailabletostorethedataprotectedbyCPS.Adrivelettercanbeassignedtooneormorevirtualdisks
attachedtotheappliancebyperformingthefollowingsteps:
1. StarttheWindowsServer
ManagerandSelectStorage‐>DiskManagement.Windowswilldisplayallofthe
disksattachedtothesystem.TheVirtualDiskscreatedbyBackupExecarelabeledBEVirtualDisk.
