IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using your electrical appliances, basic safety precautions
should always be followed, including the following:
1. Read all instructions.
2. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs. Use pot
holders when removing hot containers.
3. To protect against a risk of electrical shock, do not immerse
cord, plug, or base in water or other liquid.
4. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by
or near children.
5. Unplug from outlet when not in use. Unplug before putting on or
taking off parts and allow to cool before cleaning.
6. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or
after the appliance malfunctions, has been dropped or damaged
in any manner. Call our toll-free customer service number for
information on examination, repair, or adjustment.
7. The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the
appliance manufacturer may cause injuries.
8. Do not use outdoors.
9. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot
surfaces.

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS!
This appliance is intended for household use only.
WARNING! Shock Hazard: This appliance has a polarized plug (one
wide blade) that reduces the risk of electric shock. The plug fits only
one way into a polarized outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose of
the plug by modifying the plug in any way or by using an adapter.
If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still
does not fit, have an electrician replace the outlet.
The length of the cord used on this appliance was selected to
reduce the hazards of becoming tangled in or tripping over a longer
cord. If a longer cord is necessary, an approved extension cord may
be used. The electrical rating of the extension cord must be equal
to or greater than the rating of the appliance. Care must be taken
to arrange the extension cord so that it will not drape over the
countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or
accidentally tripped over.

To Cook Rice
BEFORE FIRST USE: Wash cooking pot and lid.
Standard proportions for cooking rice are 2 parts water to
1 part rice. Follow package directions if proportions vary from
this recommendation. Amounts of water can be adjusted to
personal preference.
NOTE: Do not throw away the rice measuring cup that came
with your unit. This is an important tool in using your rice cooker
successfully and its size is standard in the rice industry. One rice
measuring cup equals 6 oz./180 ml or approximately 3/4 cup
U.S. standard.
1. Add rice and water to cooking pot. Do not exceed max fill
line.
2. Carefully place cooking pot straight down in base. Make sure
cooking pot is securely SEATED into base by rotating the pot
left and right.
NOTE: Make sure bottom of cooking pot is not bent or
warped or it will not conduct heat correctly.
3. Place lid on cooking pot. Plug cord into outlet. The WARM
indicator light will come on BUT UNIT IS NOT COOKING.
4. Push the cook switch DOWN to start cooking. The COOK
indicator light will come on.
w WARNING
Electric Shock Hazard.
Only cook in the cooking pot. Never cook in base.

5. When rice is finished cooking, the Cook switch moves up
and the WARM indicator light comes on. This feature will
keep the rice warm until the unit is unplugged.
NOTE: Do not hold the Cook switch down after the rice
cooker has switched to WARM. Holding the Cook switch
down could damage the rice cooker.
6. Use the rice paddle to scoop out the cooked rice. When
finished, unplug from outlet.
NOTE: Chart is based on measuring rice and water with the rice
measuring cup provided. If you lose the rice measuring cup, one
rice measuring cup equals 6 oz. (180 ml) or approximately 3/4
cup U.S. measure, or follow the recommended two parts water
to one part rice.

Cleaning the Rice Cooker
1. Unplug cord from wall outlet.
2. Wash cooking pot, lid, rice measuring cup, and paddle in hot,
soapy water or top rack in the dishwasher.
3. Rinse, dry, and reassemble to store.
4. Wipe base with a soft, damp cloth, or a scrub pad safe
for all surfaces. Do not clean with abrasive cleansers.
TIPS:
Allow rice to “stand” for approximately 5 to 10 minutes after
cooking is complete. This will give you a better-textured rice.
Give rice an additional flavor by substituting chicken, beef, or
vegetable broth for the water.
Always keep opened uncooked rice in an airtight container.
Store cooked rice in your refrigerator up to 3 to 5 days.
Brown rice can be kept in your freezer up to 6 months to
extend its shelf life.
Add cooked leftover rice to recipes such as meatloaf, soups,
and casseroles to feed more people.
Do not exceed maximum water fill line, if using the above chart
or rice packaging directions.
There are many different types of rice. Rice packaging directions
may call for different amounts of rice and water from the
above chart; following package directions may vary results.
*Measured in 1-cup U.S. measure
