Hello!
Thank you for choosing Automile. We truly
appreciate your business and hope that
youll get a lot of value from your purchase.
Helping you keep an eye on the things you
love is our main priority.
/ The Automile Team
General hardware description
The unit is equipped with a GSM modem
running on AT&T LTE Cat 1 network in the
US, and on all major European networks
(see page 40). In Europe, the tracker
makes use of automatic 2G fallback if
there is no LTE Cat 1 connectivity.
Tracker comes with a built-in SIM card
eliminating the need for separate ones,
and a custom-designed antenna with
superior reception when compared to
consumer smartphones. It also has built-
in sensors monitoring temperature and
movement. Notifications are triggered
based on configured thresholds.
The tracker has a fixed cable with an SAE
connector, which is an industry standard
on many vehicles. It can either be used
directly in connecting the tracker to
external power or used with the wiring
harness to connect the tracker directly
to a 8–30V power source.
Theft prevention
Since launching our first generation
of trackers a few years ago, we have
prevented thefts all over the world.
Whenever an asset is moved an alert
will be pushed to your devices. Tracking
can be monitored every 10 seconds with
an accuracy of 3.3 ft / 1 m. The antenna
is designed to ensure good reception
even in demanding locations.
Common misunderstandings
“If a thief finds the tracker, what’s the
point of having it installed?”
The tracker has a motion sensor. If a
thief tries to find it, the asset will move,
thus triggering a notification well before
the tracker is found. With that said,
always try to install the tracker in a well
hidden location.
Will the device stop working if a thief
cuts the wiring harness that powers it?”
The tracker contains a sensitive motion
sensor as well as a voltage sensor. If
external power is cut, the asset was
likely moved to get access to the cable,
thus triggering an alert notification. If
the cable is cut the voltage sensor also
triggers the tracker to send an alert.
Lastly, the device is equipped with a
built-in lithium ion polymer battery with
a capacity of 1000 mAh that can last up
to one year. Rest assured your asset is
being tracked even if the power is cut.

A bundle including the contents above, plus a wall-charger
and a wiring harness with cable lugs, is also available.
Automile Tracker Standard is a GSM and GPS based
tracker. By oering superior battery life and a high
signal strength, it meets the needs of sophisticated
customers and complex environments.
Hassle-free wireless communication
Tracker doesn’t need a mobile phone to
be present or even nearby. The device
has its own cellular modem and built-in
SIM card, making it fully independent of
your phone.
Devices from a marketplace/reseller
Devices bought at a marketplace such as
Amazon or a reseller, may come bundled
with a 12, 24 or 36 months subscription.
This means that when you register such
device (see page 8) you will receive a
“free” subscription for the time period
that was included in the purchase.
When the time period ends you will
receive an oer to continue to subscribe.
The subscription fee varies depending
on your needs. If you don’t want to
continue subscribing, your account will
shut down with no additional fees.
Subscription information
The subscription fee includes cellular
connectivity for the built-in SIM
through AT&T or European carriers,
and access to iOS, Android and web
apps. Also included, subject to change,
are unlimited push notifications, text
messages and email alerts.
Dierences between our trackers
Tracker is designed for permanent asset
monitoring in demanding environments.
The 8–30V wiring harness allows you to
extend battery life, but even without it
the battery lasts up to one year if assets
are rarely moved.
The Tracker is able to measure external
voltage and report operating time on
assets. These features are available on
all Automile trackers except for Tracker
Mini. The external voltage sensor allows
you to set up alerts for when an external
battery drops below or rises above a
certain voltage. Operating time makes it
possible to measure how long an asset
has been used. A common use case for
this is to monitor the operating time of
an excavator.
Expected battery time
If an asset rarely moves the battery
can last up to one year in certain
temperatures. But let’s say you track a
car with a 3 minute tracking interval, the
ENGLISH 6
battery needs to be charged after about
500 mi / 800 km. To extend battery
life, you can connect the device to the
asset’s battery with the wiring harness.
Since the device runs a Low-Power ARM
Cortex-M4 it doesn’t have to power up
the GPS and GSM modules if they aren’t
used. This allows for ecient power
management and longer battery time.
Durability IP67
Automile Tracker Pro is IP67 classed,
meaning it is dust and water proof. The
device can be dropped into a body of
water up to 3.3 ft / 1 m deep for 30 min.
Encryption and security
All communication between Automile’s
cloud service and the device is XTEA
encrypted (eXtended Tiny Encryption
Algorithm). The apps communicate with
the cloud service through the use of
military graded AES-256.

Download the mobile app
If the tracker was ordered from automile.com you don’t
need to register it. Just visit Google Play or Apple App
Store to download the Automile app (fig. 1).
Login / Create a new account
Open the app and fill in your email address or mobile
phone number (fig. 2). If you enter an email address that
our system doesn’t recognize we will ask for your phone
number. A one-time passcode will be sent, ensuring a
faster and more secure registration process compared
to custom passwords. If we find that the provided phone
number is being used by an existing account you can
login, or choose to continue creating a new account. This
procedure reduces duplicate accounts.
When creating a new account, select Automile Tracker
as the preferred service. The app will ask to access the
camera to scan the device’s QR code. If you don’t allow
this you can manually type the IMEI code found on the
Tracker box. If you allow access, just highlight the QR
code on the device to auto-register it (fig. 3).
Power on the device
The device is slightly charged upon delivery. To power it
on for the first time, push the button in the middle of the
Automile logo. The first time the device powers on, the
LED turns red while connecting to the network. If there
is an error preventing connection within 15 minutes, the
device stops the attempt to save battery and tries again
later. This happens only once to avoid any blinking lights
that could draw a thief’s attention. Turning o the device
completely can only be done from the app.
Installing the device
Install Tracker with the zip-ties, screws or tape.
Basic app settings
When you register a device, all settings are set to default.
Depending on what you track, a few settings are more
important than others to understand. To change settings,
open the main menu, select Assets and swipe left on
the tracker you want to edit. Then tap the Edit button to
access the Settings view.
Equipment type
Select the type of your equipment to automatically
calibrate the tracker’s built-in motion sensor (fig. 4). Add a
custom name and photo if you wish.
Update interval
Set the tracker’s update interval (fig. 5) to 30 sec, 1 min,
2 min, 3 min, 5 min, 10 min, 30 min, 1 h, 6 h, 12 h or 1 day. A
short update interval equals a high tracking frequence, but
increased battery consumption. We recommend update
intervals of 5 or 10 min. Shorter times are recommended
only if the device is running on external power.
Sleep interval
The sleep interval (fig. 5) is by default set to Never sleep;
the device will actively start tracking when movement
is detected. To extend battery time you can select a

sleep interval time. If an asset moves, you will receive a
notification/alert asking if you want to track the movement.
If you don’t respond or respond “No”, the tracker will
sleep for the selected interval. If the asset moves again
after that time you will receive a new notification.
Notifications
The Automile app lets you set up all sorts of notifications
and alerts (fig. 6). To access these settings, open the main
menu, tap Settings and select Notifications. By default,
movement alerts are sent to the phone that the app is
installed on, but you can create additional notifications
and alerts to other phones, or to be sent as text messages
or emails. You can also use an advanced feature called
HTTP Post. All notification types are free to use.
You can create a notification for multiple trackers at
the same time. Swipe right to turn on or o (mute)
notifications, or swipe left to delete one.
History
To access event history such as movements and battery
levels, open the main menu and tap Assets. Select an
asset to access a map view with general information
(fig. 7) such as its current location, battery level and
temperature. Tap History at the bottom of the screen
to see event history (fig. 8). Tap the Filter button in the
History view to show or hide specific event types.
Shut down
Shutting o a device is hardly ever done, so the approach
for doing this is slightly hidden: Open the main menu, tap
Assets and select the tracker you want to shut down. Tap
the ellipsis icon in the upper right corner to access the
Shut down button. Note that turning on a device requires
physical access to the device.
Web app
Along with the mobile apps you will also get access to
Automile’s web app. Please visit app.automile.com to login
