to reduce the risk of personal injury and / or damage to the equipment. Before allowing someone else to use this
tool, make sure they are aware of all safety information.

WORK AREA
1. Operate in a safe work environment. Keep your work area clean and well lit.
2. Keep anyone not wearing the appropriate safety equipment away from the work area.
NOTE: Minimize distractions in the work environment. Distractions can cause you to lose
control of the tool.
3. Store tool properly in a safe and dry location to prevent rust or damage.
4. Always lock up tools and keep them out of the reach of children.
PERSONAL SAFETY
CAUTION! Wear protective equipment approved by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) or American National
Standards Institute (ANSI) when using the tool.
1. Dress properly, wear protective equipment. Use breathing, ear, eye, face, foot, hand and head protection.
Always wear ANSI approved impact safety goggles, which must provide both frontal and side protection.
Protect your hands with suitable gloves. Wear a full face shield if your work creates metal filings or wood
chips. Protect your head from falling objects by wearing a hard hat. Wear an ANSI approved dust mask or
respirator when working around metal, wood and chemical dusts and mists. Wear ANSI approved earplugs.
Protective, electrically non-conductive clothes and non-skid footwear are recommended when working.
Wear steel-toed boots to prevent injury from falling objects.
2. Control the tool, personal movement and the work environment to avoid personal injury or damage to the
tool. Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use your common sense.
3. Keep articles of clothing, jewelry, hair, etc., away from moving parts to avoid entanglement with a tool.

4. Do not operate any machine / tool when tired or under the influence of drugs,
alcohol or medications.
TOOL USE AND CARE
1. Use the correct tool for the job. Maximize tool performance and safety by using the tool for its intended
task.
2. Do not modify this tool or use for a purpose for which it was not designed.
3. This tool was designed for a specific function.
Do Not:
a. Modify or alter the tool; all parts and accessories are designed with built-it safety features that may be
compromised if altered.
b. Use the tool in a way for which it was not designed.
UNPACKING
1. Carefully remove the tool from the package.
2. Retain packing material until you have carefully inspected and satisfactorily installed or operated the tool.
3. Make sure that all items in the Contents list are included.
4. Inspect the parts carefully to make sure the tool was not damaged while shipping.
OPERATION
NOTE: Some vehicles may have spot welds holding the ball joint in place.
The spot weld must be broken before attempting to remove the ball joint.
BALL JOINT REMOVAL
1. Place the pressing adapter #1 (disc with small hole) over the
ball joint shaft.
2. Choose the correct receiving adapter and place it on the pressing adapter #2
(disc with large hole) and under the ball joint.
3. Place the c-frame around this combination tightening the forcing screw
until tight. Verify the alignment of all the components making sure that the
pressing job will not bind and that the alignment is correct.
4. Tighten the forcing screw, pressing the ball joint from the
control arm.

BALL JOINT INSTALLATION
1. Insert the new ball joint into the control arm. Make sure the ball joint is
going in straight.
2. Place the receiving adapter and the pressing disc #2 on top of the
control arm.
3. Assemble the c-frame around this combination with the pressing disc #1
on top of the forcing screw and under the ball joint.
4. Tight the forcing screw until the combination is secure.
5. Verify the alignment of all of the components making sure that the pressing
job will not bind and that the alignment is correct.
6. Continue tightening the forcing screw until the ball joint is
completely seated.

U-JOINT ASSEMBLY AND DISASSEMBLY
The C-Frame press can be used to service the u-joints on most vehicles.
NOTE: Clean the u-joint assembly before beginning the job!
REMOVAL
1. Remove any external and / or internal lock rings.
2. Assemble the c-frame press around the drive shaft yoke and press the u-joint until the first bearing
is removed.
3. Reassemble and press the second bearing.
INSTALLATION
1. Align the new bearing and c-frame press as straight as possible over the drive yoke shaft yoke and press
the bearing into the yoke.
2. Reassemble the external and / or internal lock rings.
3. Align the c-frame press and the second bearing as straight as possible over the drive shaft yoke and press
into the yoke.
4. Reassemble the external and / or internal lock rings.
LUBRICATION AND MAINTENANCE
Keep the forcing screw lubricated and clean.
DISPOSING OF THE TOOL
If your tool has become damaged beyond repair, do not throw it out. Take it to the appropriate recycling facility.
