Description
The MX2810 PSU is a plug-in unit for the MX2810
chassis that provides the necessary voltages required
to operate the MX2810. With two cards installed, the
MX2810 can recover from PSU or power source
failure, depending on configuration. There are three
possible configurations and modes of operation.
Non-Redundant Power Mode
This mode offers no backup protection, but only
requires one source of power and one PSU.
Power Supply Recovery Mode
This mode offers backup protection in the event of
PSU failure. This configuration uses a primary and a
backup PSU, but only utilizes one source of power. In
this mode, the MX2810 can continue operation in the
event of a PSU failure, without interrupting service.
Power Supply and Source Recovery Mode
This mode offers a backup system for both card and
source failure. In this mode, two PSUs are installed
and are connected to two individual power sources.
This allows the MX2810 to handle any combination of
power source or power supply failure. The MX2810
is able to internally re-route the power source if a
power supply card and the opposite power source fail.
This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC rules.
Operation is subject to the following two conditions:
(1) This device may not cause harmful interference,
and (2) this device must accept any interference
received, including interference that may cause
undesired operation.
Changes or modifications not expressly approved by
ADTRAN could void the user’s authority to operate
this equipment.

2. INSTALLATION
After unpacking the unit, inspect it for damage. If
damage is discovered, file a claim with the carrier,
then contact ADTRAN. See Warranty and Customer
Service.
NOTE
To prevent ESD events when handling this
equipment, all personnel should utilize ESD
shoes or wrist straps, or an ESD flooring must be
present.
The MX2810 PSU plugs directly into one of the PSU
slots on the left side of the MX2810 unit. To insert,
hold the unit by the faceplate while supporting the
sides. Align the card edges to the guide grooves in the
designated PSU slot. Insert into the chassis until the
edge connector seats firmly into the backplane. Lock
the unit in place by pushing in on the locking lever.
Compliance Codes
This product is intended to be installed in products
providing a Type “B” or “E” enclosure, and in a
restricted access location. See Table 1 for compliance
codes.
Provisioning Options
The MX2810 PSU has no options or adjustments.
LED Descriptions
The MX2810 PSU has LED status indicators. The
LEDs provided are PWR (power) and CHK (check).
The power LED is active when the unit is on and
receiving full power. The check LED is active when
the power supply is failing or is providing low power
and needs to be checked.
Specifications
The specifications for the MX2810 can be found in
Table 2.
3. MAINTENANCE
The MX2810 does not require routine maintenance for
normal operation.
ADTRAN does not recommend that repairs be
attempted in the field. Repair services are obtained by
returning the defective unit to ADTRAN Customer
Service.
