Setup
First time use
After removing the radio from the packaging, fully extend the
telescopic aerial and connect the mains adaptor to the mains outlet
and the power lead to the ‘DC in’ socket located on the back of the
radio.
The radio will automatically turn on and you will see the welcome
screen displayed on the front briey. .
After pressing the ‘volume/Standby’ dial the radio will perform a full
scan of the DAB frequencies available. The scan progress and the
number of DAB stations found will be shown on the display.
The date and time will automatically be set by the DAB signal the
radio is receiving. If your radio is in a poor signal area, the date and
time will not be set and you will see a message on the display.
You can set the time manually through the ‘System’ menu.
This will also mean you can only use the radio in FM mode as the
DAB signal is not strong enough for the radio to receive stations.
After the date and time has been set the radio will be ready to use.

Instructions
Selecting a DAB station
Press the Tune +/- buttons to cycle through the available stations. All
the stations are displayed in alphabetical order.
Once you have found the required DAB/FM station to listen to, press
the ‘Menu/Enter button to select it. The station will only change once
it has been selected, so you can browse the available stations without
disturbing the current selected station.
Saving a DAB/FM station
Press and hold ‘Preset’ for 3 seconds when you have tuned the radio
on to a required station in DAB or FM mode till the display will shows
the ‘Preset Recall’ message.
Press the Tune +/- buttons to select a slot (1 to 20) and press and the
‘Menu/Enter’ button in to save the preset. You will see the saved mes-
sage on the screen conrming the preset has been stored.

Selecting a preset DAB/FM station
Press the ‘Preset’ button, cycle through the saved presets by
pressing the Tune +/- buttons. To select a preset press the ‘Menu/
Enter’ button to select it.
Auto Tune DAB
To fully retune all of the available stations on DAB press the ‘Menu/
Enter’ button. This will show you the scan option on the display. Press
the ‘Menu/Enter button to select this option.
The radio will now scan through all the available channels.
All the channels found will be shown in alphabetical order.
Manually Tune DAB
To manually tune the radio, press ‘Menu/Enter’ button and then press
Tune +/- buttons till ‘Manual Tune is displayed. Press ‘Menu/Enter’
button to select it.

Auto Tune FM
To auto tune to the next available radio station press and hold the
‘Tune +’ button for 3 seconds. This will start the radio to auto scan.
The scan will always stop and the next received signal. Repeat the
storing preset procedure to save the current station.
You can change between all stations and strong station for the FM
scan by pressing the ‘Menu/Enter’ button and selecting ‘Scan Setting’
with the Tune +/- buttons.
Use the Tune +/- buttons to select either ‘Strong Stations or All Sta-
tions and press ‘Menu/Enter to conrm the required selection. The
asterisk in the top right corner indicates current selection.
You will be sent to the previous menu once a selection has been
made. Press the ‘Menu button to return to the main screen.
Manually Tune FM
Press the Tune +/- buttons to tune the radio in FM mode. This helps
in poor signal areas to get a clear signal. Repeat the storing preset
procedure to save the current station.

Reset
To reset the unit press the ‘Menu/Enter’ button, cycle through the
saved presets by pressing the Tune +/- buttons.
Scroll through the menu options as before and select
‘Factory Reset’.
Scroll to select ‘Yes’ and conrm by pressing the ‘Menu/Enter’
button. The radio will restore itself to the original factory settings.
This will clear any presets saved and reset the time and date.

Manually Setting the Time/Date
Press ‘Menu/Enter’ and cycle through using the tune +/- buttons.
Select ‘System’ by pressing the ‘Menu/Enter’. Cycle through the next
menu and select ‘Time.
Select the ‘Set Time/Date time option. You will see the hours
ashing rst. Use the Tune+/- buttons to the required hour and press
in the ‘Menu/Enter button to conrm your selection. The minutes will
be ashing, repeat the process as the hours to set the minutes.
After the time has been set it will cycle through to the date settings.
Repeat the process that you used to set the time to set the required
date. A message will appear on the display when successfully set.
Under the ‘Time menu options you can also set the time
automatically by selecting Auto Update. This will update the date and
time via the DAB signal received by the radio.

Setting the Alarms
There are 2 alarms that you can set on this radio. Both are set in the
same way. To select the rst alarm press the ‘Snooze button once.
To select the second alarm press the ‘Snooze button twice.
Once you have chosen the required alarm to set press the
‘Menu/Enter’ button in to conrm your selection.
You will see the hours ashing rst. Use tune +/- buttons to set the
required hour and press the ‘Menu/Enter button to conrm your
selection. The minutes will be ashing, repeat the same process for
setting the hours to set the minutes.
You next option is to set the duration of the alarm. You can set the
duration in intervals of 15, 30, 45 and 60 minutes before the alarm will
stop. You can select one of these options by using the Tune +/-
buttons and pressing the ‘Menu/Enter’ button to select.
You will be presented with a source option for the alarm.
You can choose between ‘Buzzer’, ‘DAB’ or ‘FM’. If you choose ‘Buzzer
it will got to the next option. If you choose either ‘DAB’ or ‘FM’ you will
go to further choice of ‘Last Listened’ or one of your saved presets.
Use the Tune +/- buttons as before to select and conrm the option
required to be alerted to.
Instructions
The next step is to choose and set the frequency of the alarm.
Your options will be ‘Daily’, ‘Once, ‘Weekends, or ‘Weekdays. press
‘Menu/Enter’ select and conrm the required option for your alarm.
You will now be able to set the volume level for your alarm.
Use the Tune +/- to set the volume level and press the ‘Menu/Enter’
button to conrm the required audio level for your alarm.
You will now see the option to either activate or leave it dormant.
Use the Tune +/- buttons to set the alarm to ‘On or ‘Off.
Press the ‘Menu/Enter’ button in to conrm the selection required for
your alarm. If you are successful you will see the message Alarm
Saved’.
If cancelled through the process or the alarm failed to save you will
see the message Alarm Not Saved’.

Prune
You can remove DAB stations from the radio that are listed with a ‘?’
in front of their name by using the prune function.
Once you’ve selected a station you wish to remove, press the ‘Menu/
Enter’ button and navigate the menu options with the Tune +/- buttons
and select ‘Prune. You will be presented with the choice ‘Yes or ‘No.
Select ‘Yes to remove the station.
You can restore all pruned DAB stations by performing a factory reset
as per reset instructions.

DRC
DRC or Dynamic Range Compression is a feature that some DAB
stations use. This enables the audio to be evened out by raising the
volume of the quieter audio levels and lowering the volume of the
louder audio levels.
To set this press the ‘Menu/Enter button, navigate to the ‘DRC’
option using the Tune +/- buttons and selecting it by pressing the
‘Menu/Enter’ button.
The ‘Low’ option will give you a small amount of DRC, where as ‘High
with give you strong amount of DRC. Use the Tune +/- buttons to
navigate between the options and to select the required preference.
The asterisk in the top right corner indicates the current selection.

Bluetooth
Press the ‘DAB/FM/BT’ button till ‘BT’ appears on the screen.
The radio will automatically go into pairing mode.
A voice will conrm that the unit is in pairing mode and ‘Bluetooth will
ash on the screen.
Make sure your bluetooth device is active and in pairing mode.
Search for “MAXTEK DAB” in your available bluetooth device list and
select it. There is no security so the unit will pair automatically.
A voice will conrm that the bluetooth device is connected and
‘Bluetooth will stop ashing on the screen.
You can play, pause and skip tracks with the device connected.
Once paired, as long as the unit remains in your list of paired devices,
the unit will automatically pair next time you come to use this feature.

Warranty
This product is warranted to be free from defects in workmanship and parts for a period of 36 months
from the date of purchase. Defects that occur within this warranty period, under normal use and care,
will be repaired, replaced or refunded at our discretion, solely at our option with no charge for parts and
labour. The benets conferred by this warranty are in addition to all rights and remedies in respect of
the product the consumer has under existing U.K. laws.
Proof of Purchase
This warranty is valid for the original purchase and is not transferable.
Please keep your purchase receipt as proof of purchase and as proof of the date of when the purchase
was made. The receipt must be presented with the warranty card when making a claim under this
warranty.
Service during the Warranty Period
Please ensure the product is properly packaged so as to ensure that no damage occurs in transit. Also
make sure that you have included a detailed explanation of the problem.
Extent of the Warranty
This warranty is limited to defects in workmanship or parts. All defective products or parts will be
repaired or replaced. This warranty does not extend to accessories.
Normal Wear and Tear
This warranty does not cover normal wear and tear of the product or parts.
Exclusions
This warranty does not cover the following:
• Any defect caused by accident, misuse, abuse, improper installation or operation, lack or reasonable
care, unauthorised modication, loss of parts, tampering or attempted repair by a person not
authorised by the distributor.
• Any product that has been damaged by lightning strike either directly or indirectly, or on a main’s
or vehicle outlet power surge or liquid ingress.
• Any product that has not been installed, operated or maintained in accordance with the
manufacturer’s operating instructions provided with the product.
• Any product that has been used for purposes other than domestic use.
• The product if it is located outside of the U.K. and Ireland
• Any damage caused by improper power input or improper cable connection.
