Before Installation
•A few minutes planning can make a big difference to the installation time and also to your satisfaction with
the function of your product.
•Remove heat globes from the unit before installation to prevent breakages.
•Before commencing any cutting, check in the ceiling space that there are no obstructions such as ceiling
joists (at least 50mm clearance) and that there is sufficient height clearance (at least 220mm) from the unit.
Check if the electrical wiring can be routed from the wall switches to the mounting location.
•Ceiling insulation should be kept well clear away from the unit and all ducting equipment.
•The unit should not be installed directly above a shower or bathtub. Refer to the ‘zones’ in bathroom in
AS/NZS 3000.
•The unit must not be installed where it will be subject to direct splashing.
•This product is designed for installation in flat ceilings only. Don’t mount on a sloping ceiling or a vertical
wall.
•The Infra-Red lamps are not designed to heat the entire room area, they provide instant heat to persons
standing directly underneath them. Install your unit above the area where ‘drying off’ usually occurs.
•Your heater lamps are not designed for extended periods of operation, as this could cause overheating of
the heater lamps and premature failure.
•For exhaust fan to work efficiently an equivalent volume of air must enter the room being extracted.
Generally, air would be drawn under the door, or through a slightly open window. If the room is airtight, the
fan will operate poorly.
Introduction
Please read these instructions carefully prior to installation and operation. Care should be taken when installing
to prevent damage to the unit.
HORIZON Model No.: 19847
2Light Heater with Exhaust fan and CCT LED light
INSTALLATION
1. The 2L Heater and has been designed for use on ceilings around 2.4 in height.
2. The unit may be installed between joists using the built in clips. Alternatively the unit can be installed
against a joist using a screw through the flange plate.
3. Remove all lamps from your Bathroom Mate. Unfasten the fascia-retaining springs inside the housing,
and remove the fascia.
4. Mark the ceiling with a pencil outline 345mm x 185mm, and cut out a hole in the ceiling at the chosen
area. The instruction card can be used as a template. Make sure a distance between the edges and
wall is no less than 400mm, a minimum 220mm clearance above the unit, and a minimum 50mm
clearance from ceiling joints. Fig.1
5. Insert the Bathroom Mate unit into the hole, ensuring that the side springs are pulled inwards so that
the unit can pass through the hole, without damaging the plaster. Fig.2
6. Securely fix the unit with the clips, and if required, additional screws can be used to assist unit
retention in the ceiling. NB: Screw holes are provided in the flange for this purpose.
7. Replace the fascia, by holding against the unit in ceiling, and reattach the retaining springs inside the
housing. Fig.3
8. Reinstall the two heat globes by screwing them carefully into the lampholder, without over-tightening.
9. Install the central light globe by screwing it carefully into the lampholder, without over-tightening.
10. For installation where external venting is required or is your choice, select a suitable location either in
the roof or exterior wall to vent out the exhausted air/steam and cut out a 105mm hole.
11. Put the ventiduct into the vent hole and seal the space around the hole using a suitable sealant and
cowling where necessary.
12. Fit the in-house end of the duct to the fan outlet, and fix the end with duct clip. Ensure that the ducting
is kept as straight as possible.
1) The recommended height of the installation is 2.4m. Before commencing installation remove the heat globes
from the unit to prevent breakages. Before commencing cutting ensure that the area behind the intended
location is clear of all cables, pipes and joists. Use the card provided as a template to mark the ‘cut out hole’
on the ceiling. The cut out hole size is 355mm x 200mm, ( Fig. 1) Once clear, cut out the section along the
marked lines. The unit may be mounted either between joists using the inbuilt clip fasteners or against a joist
using a screw through the flange plate.
2) Undo the front cover ( Fig.2) by detaching the 4 x springs.
3) Remove the terminal cover on the rear of the base and connect wires as per wiring diagram on Fig. 7 and
wiring instructions. Replace the cover.
4) Note : Connect ducting (if required) after the unit is installed in the ceiling.
5) Gently insert the unit into the cut out hole ensuring to move the side mounting clips inwards so that the body
can pass through the hole without damaging the plasterboard. Tighten the screws for the clips ensuring that
the unit is held securely in place by 4 x clips. Additional screws can be applied around the metal flange plate
to hold the unit to the ceiling. (Fig.3)
6) Hold the fascia against the body of the unit and the ceiling then reattach the securing spring clips to hold the
fascia back in place. (Fig.4).
7) Screw the two large heat lamps into the E27 lampholders. Ensure connection is firm do not over tighten.
(Fig.5)
8) Attach ducting if required ( Fig.6) to extract the air to the outer wall using 1.5 long flexible ducting, cable ties
and vent outlet grill provided. Fix and tighten the cable ties firmly to hold the flexible duct to the unit and the
outer wall vent.
NOTE: Ensure that the flexible duct, when connected to the unit doesn’t obstruct or block the anti-draft
stopper, as it would reduce the overall airflow.
9) Check that all connections are secure.
10) Turn the power ON.
11) You can operate the unit using the wall switch.
Installation 1) Before commencing installation remove the heat globes from the unit then remove the front cover by
detaching the 4 x springs and unplug the LED downlight cable.
Before commencing cutting ensure that the area behind the intended location is clear of all cables, pipes and
joists. Use the card provided as a template to mark the ‘cut out hole’ on the ceiling. The cut out hole size is
355mm x 200mm. Once clear, cut out the section along the marked lines. The unit may be mounted either
between joists using the inbuilt clip fasteners or against a joist using a screw through the flange plate.
2) Remove the cover terminal cover on the back of the base and connect wires as per wiring diagram Fig. 6
and wiring instructions. Replace the cover.
1) Remove 2 heat lamps from the bathroom heater. Then remove the plug of the Led downlight inside the
housing. Unfasten the fascia retaining spring clips inside the housing ,and remove the fascia. Connect the
ducting if required to the outer grill of the unit. Insert the unit into the square hole being sure to pull the side
springs inward so that the body can pass through the hole without damaging the plaster. Ensure that the unit
is held securely in place by the clips. If required, additional screws can be used to aid holding the unit in the
ceiling. Screw holes are provided in the flange for this purpose. (Fig.3)
2) Hold the fascia against the body of the heater and the ceiling and attach the securing spring clips to hold the
fascia in place. (Fig.4)
3) Now screw in the two large heat lamps into the lamp holder through the holes provided in the fascia. The
globes should be screwed up firmly to ensure a good electrical contact but don’t over tighten. (Fig.5)
