Read these Installation and Operating Instructions thoro-
ughly in order to ensure that the SOLARWATT MyReserve
functions smoothly. Installation and service must be car-
ried out by qualied electrician who has been certied
by SOLARWATT. The installation and operating manual
should be stored in the vicinity of the SOLARWATT My-
Reserve and must be accessible at all times to everyone
involved in work on the storage battery.
With more than 20 years of production experience
under its belt, SOLARWATT is one of the pioneers of
the German solar industry. What started in 1993 as
a two-person company is now a leading manufactu-
rer of solar modules – a provider of intelligent ener-
gy solutions for both private and commercial uses.
The MyReserve battery storage system completes the sys-
temic approach of SOLARWATT. By choosing SOLARWATT
MyReserve, you will benet from a high-quality and inno-
vative product from the SOLARWATT family. The product
makes use of safe, highly ecient, ready to use battery
technology combined with excellent battery module exe-
cution. MyReserve also has a battery management system
that eciently connects and monitors all components.
This installation and operating manual enables you to sa-
fely and correctly integrate the SOLARWATT MyReserve
into a photovoltaic system so that this innovative battery
storage system can provide the optimal benet and thus
increase your household’s internal consumption.

The SOLARWATT MyReserve is a DC-coupled battery sto-
rage system installed between the photovoltaic system
and the inverter. There is no data exchange between
MyReserve and the inverter. With this DC connection,
MyReserve does not have a direct inuence on the net-
work quality. MyReserve can feed both single-phase and
three-phase inverters. Its AC Sensor records electrical po-
wer drawn from or fed into the public grid. These variab-
les are evaluated in order to determine the power output
of the battery storage. More or less power is transferred to
the inverter depending on household consumption.
As such, when the system is running entirely in battery
mode (at night), rather than feeding electrical energy into
the grid, the MyReserve will regulate the system so as to
maximize consumption of self-generated electricity. Du-
ring the day, the MyReserve will output battery power in
such a way that the system draws as little energy from the
public grid as possible, and draws in enough power to en-
sure that the battery is charged completely by sundown.
This charging and discharging behavior protects the lit-
hium ion cells and maximizes the service life of the My-
Reserve.

MyReserve is a compact battery system with lithium ion
technology-based cells. MyReserve is installed in the
DC string between the PV system and the grid-opera-
ted PV inverter. This means that both single-phase and
three-phase PV inverters can be integrated in the overall
system. MyReserve is suitable for existing systems as well
as new systems. This gure shows the layout of the sys-
tem in a simplied diagram.

Always use the SOLARWATT MyReserve string con gurator tool for system planning.
The con gurator is available in the „Professionals“ area
of our website www.solarwatt.com.au under the menu
item "Tools".

For systems with SOLARWATT system inverters and
Stecagrid inverters ensure that the con guration
ratio of the inverter rated output to the PV system
size does not exceed 110 %.
Example:
3 kW Inverter 3,5 kWp PV-System --> not ok
3 kW Inverter 3,2 kWp PV-System --> ok.

In systems using the SMA TL21 of the Sunny Boy“ inverter series, it must be ensured that the maximum open
circuit voltage does not exceed 530 V and the maximum MPP voltage does not exceed 500 V.Based on the par-
ticular MPP tracking mechanism of this series, short-circuits will occur at voltages above 500 V, which can result
in defects of the MyReserve and the SMA inverter. A system installation that does not match the speci cations of
SOLARWATT will void any warranty claims.
In systems with the SMA Sunny boy 2.5 Inverters, the Optirac Global peak tracking must be switched o via the
Bluetooth interface integrated in the inverter. Faulty charging and discharging behavior of the MyReserve can
occur if this is disregarded..

MyReserve must not block access to disconnection
mechanisms at the setup location.
For maximum safety, install DC-side lightning and
overvoltage protection between MyReserve and the

Keep the product out of reach of children, mentally
handicapped persons, and animals.
Install the product in a location where it will not be at
risk of exposure to  ooding. This is to be ensured by
installing the product at a su cient height (at least

The smallest extension stage of MyReserve only requi-
res a housing. In order to make installing the MyReserve
as convenient as possible, leave su cient room around
the battery storage system to feed cables and optimally
mount the housing cover.
Minimum clearance above and below: 20 cm
Minimum clearance to the right and left: 5 cm
Use the adjacent  gure or wall mount included in the
delivery to mark the holes on the wall (3x). The wall
holder must be fastened to the wall with three screws.
There are two alternative holes in the wall mount for
each of the three screws. Only use wall mounts approved
by SOLARWATT for the installation.
Horizontal installation
Lift the unit on the wall mount using the handle (1). Look
through the opening in the rear side to see whether the
body slides securely into the wall mount and fastens in
place there automatically. Secure the housing against un-
intended removal with a screw connection at one of the
three asymmetrically arranged holes (2). All fastening ho-
les have a diameter of 9 mm. Remove the two screws (3)
and lift o the cover to expose the terminal strip.

An additional housing for installing further battery modu-
les is required for all other expansion stages (SOLARWATT
MyReserve Extension). An additional housing tray must
be installed in accordance with chapter 5.2. Observe the
minimum clearances from other devices.
The cable that connects the battery module of the exten-
sion to the MyReserve base unit is 6 m long. This determi-
nes the maximum possible distance between MyReserve
and the extension. Observe the maximum distance when
planning the arrangement of the devices. The gures
show the maximum distances for arrangement side-by-si-
de and above each other.
