Cleaning with Bymat 1024 RS
For removing oxide coatings on welded stainless steel parts, use the felt strip. Secure the cloth to an
electrode with an O-ring.
Be Careful: To avoid short circuits from the electrode to the work-piece,
be sure to change the band or cloth in time!
The stamp (electrode or marker) should be connected to the black cable, which should be connected
to the black connector on the 1024 RS. The red cable should extend from the red connector on the 1024
RS and clip on to the work-piece. Pour some electrolyte designed for this purpose into the wide-
necked container (for example, electrolyte A for light oxide coatings for very shiny surfaces or elctrolyte
B for oxide coatings and dull finishes). Dip the stamp in and stroke it over the oxide to be removed until
it is gone. For cleaning, the digital meter should show 24 volts. Use the turning knob to accomplish
this. Switch the switch to 1 (cleaning).
Be Careful: While using chemicals, an acid resistant apron, gloves, and protective
eyewear should be used.
The electrode is likely to overheat (become uncomfortable to hole) if used longer than a few minutes.
Drop it in water or be prepared with a second electrode. If the 1024 RS overheats, its thermal protection
will automatically turn the device off. Turn the voltage knob all the way down and then return ist to the
desired voltage.
Be Careful: Never exchange the stamp and cloth for cleaning with the stamp for marking.
This could cause blackening of your part.
Embossing with BYMAT 1024 RS
Use the flat marker for this purpose. Secure the marking felt with an O-ring. The stamp (electrode) should
be connected to the black cable, which should be connected to the black connector on the 1024 RS.
The red cable should extend from the red connector on the 1024 RS and clip on to the
work-piece. Pour some electrolyte designed for this purpose (for example ET or EC) into the
wide-necked container. For marking, the voltage should be adjusted to 12 Volts. The switch should
be set for 1 (marking dark) and 2 (light) are both acceptable settings.
Dip the felt into the electrolyte, position the template on the work-piece. Press the marker vertically from
the top allowing the entire surface of the marker to touch the template equally. Move the marker lightly
so that the electrolyte flows better through the template. Marking should be finished after approximately
2 to 4 seconds.
Markings appear different for every different material. For this reason, an entire palette of electrolytes
has been developed for marking many different kinds of metal. For the best results, it is important to
match the electrolyte to the metal (alloy) that is being marked. You will need to test different electrolytes
with different voltage settings.
Be Careful: The higher the voltage settings, the less time the template will last.

Polishing Stainless Steel with BYMAT 1024 RS
To polish stainless steels, use a strip of the aramid band provided. Secure the strip to the stamp (electrode)
you have in mind with an O-ring.
Be Careful: To avoid short-circuits, the aramid band must be exchanged in time.
Use the stamp with the black cable, connected to the black connector on the machine. The red cable
must be connected from the red connector to the work-piece. Pour some electrolyte C into the
wide-necked container and dip the marker in. Stroke the marker a few times over the spot to be cleaned.
For polishing, the digital display should show 24 Volts. Set this with the smoothly rotating knob. Set
the switch to 2 (polishing).
Be Careful: While using chemicals, an acid resistant apron, gloves, and protective
eyewear should be used.
Over a period of time, the stamp could become to warm. Cool it in water or be prepared with a second
stamp. If the 1024 RS overheats, its thermal protection will automatically turn the device off. Wait a few
seconds and then press the reset switch in the upper left corner of the face of the machine back in if it
has come out.
Galvanizing with BYMAT 1024 RS
To plate with zinc, gold, chrome, etc. use a strip of the felt provided. Secure the strip to the marker you
have in mind.
Be careful: Make sure that the switch is set to 3 („Galvanizing/Plating“)
otherwise you will blacken your work-piece.
The stamp should be used with the black cable connected to the balck connector on the 1024 RS, and
the red cable should extend from the red connector to the work-piece. The switch should be set to 3
(Galvanizing/Plating). Dip the marker in the correct electrolyte (special elektrolytes should be chosen
from the price-list provided) and stroke the marker a few times over the part to be galvanized. The correct
voltage must be found on the label of the electrolyte. For example, gold uses 8 volts. Zinc uses 12-
14 volts.
Be Careful: While using chemicals, an acid resistant apron, gloves, and protective
eyewear should be used.
We suggest using our handbook for electrochemical plating with safety hints and examples.
Caution: Do not use the device in wet rooms; protect it against moisture and splash water.
