The multimeter meets the safety standards of EN/UL/CSA 61010-1, 61010-2-030,
61010-2-033 for electronic testing instruments. This meter meets CAT III 1000V,
CATIV600Vinstallationsandapollutiondegreeof2.
Preparation
• Whenusingthemeter,followallstandardsafetyguidelines:
- Foruniversalprotectionagainelectricshock.
- Topreventthemisuseoftheinstrument.
• Checkthemeterfordamageduringtransit.
• Testleadsmustbeingoodcondition.Checktheinsulationandtipsbeforeuse.
• Safetycanonlybeguaranteedwithleadsprovided.
• lf leads need to be replaced, they must be replaced with leads of same electrical
specications.
Using the Meter
• Alwayssetthemetertotheproperfunctionandrangerst.
• Neverexceedprotectionlimitsindicatedforeachmeasurement.
• Keepngersbehindtheprobebarrierswhilemeasuring.
• Alwaysbecarefulwhenworkingwithvoltagesabove60VDCor30VACRMS.
• When using the CAT IV environment,if the measuring voltage between terminals and
earthgroundexceeds600VCATIIIenvironmentsorvoltagemeasurementbetweenthe
terminalandtheearthmorethan1000V,donotmeasurevoltage.
• Inmanualrange,ifthecircuitvalueisunknown,startthemeteratthemaximumrangeand
thenadjustaccordingly.
• Removetheleadsfromthecircuitrstbeforeswitchingbetweenfunctions.
• Donotpoweroncircuitwhilemeasuringresistance,capacitance,diodesandcontinuity.
• Neverconnectthemeter’sleadsacrossavoltagesourcewhiletherotaryswitchisinthe
resistance,capacitance,diodeorcontinuitymode.
• Donotmeasurecapacitancebefarecapacitorsaredischarged.
• Donotoperatethemeternearexplosivegas,vaporordust.
• Stopusingthemeterifanyabnormalityisobserved.
• Donotusethemeterunlessthebatterycoverissecurelyfastenedtothemeter.
• Avoiddirectexposuretosunlighttoensureextendedlifeofthemeter.
Maintenance
• Toavoid electricshock orpersonal injury,repairs/servicingnot covered inthis manual
shouldbeperformedonlybyqualiedpersonnel.
• Removetestleadsfromanycircuitbeforeopeningbatterycover.
• To avoid false readings that may become dangerous, replace the battery as soon as
the symbolappears.
• Cleanthe meterusinga dampclothand milddetergentonly; donotuse abrasivesor
chemicalsolvents.
• AlwaysmoverotaryswitchtoOFFwhennotusingthemeter.
• lfmeterisnotgoingtobeusedforanextendedperiodoftime,removebatterytoprevent
damagetothemeter.
Replacing the Battery and Fuse
WARNING
Toavoidelectricalshockorpersonalinjury,beforeopeningthebatterycovertoreplace
battery,youshouldturnthemeteroandmakesurethatthetestprobeisdisconnected
fromthemeasurementcircuit.
Toavoidwrongreadings,electricshockorpersonalinjury,when“ ”appearsonthemeter
display,replacethebatteryimmediately.
Useonlyafusewithspeciedamperage,fusingrated
value,voltageratedvalueandfusingspeed
(F1:FF600mAH1000V,F2:FF10AH1000V)
Pleasefollowbelowstepstoreplacebatteryorfuse:
• Turnothepowersupplyofthemeter.
• Pulloutalltestprobesfromtheinputsocket.
• Loosentwoscrewsonthexedbatterycoverwithscrewdriver.
• Removethebatterycover.
• Removetheoldbatteryordamagedfuse.
• Replacewithanewbatterywith9V(NEDA1604,6F22or006P)oranewfuse.
• Replacethebatterycoverandtightenthescrews.
Note:
Payattentiontothepolarityofthebatterytoavoiddamagetothemeter.
Replacing Test Probe
Ifinsulationonleadsisdamaged,replaceit.
WARNING
Ifthetestleadsneedtobereplaced,youmustuseanewonewhichshouldmeetEN
61010-031standard,ratedCATIII1000V/CATIV600V,10Aorbetter.
