A moulded plug complying with BS1363 is fitted to this
equipment for your safety and convenience.
Should the fuse in the plug supplied need to b e r eplace d with
the same rating of fuse approved by AS TA or BSI to BS 1362
(i.e., mark ed with or ) must be us ed.
When an alternative type of plug is used it should be fitt
with the same rating of fuse, otherwise the circuit should b
protected b y a 13 A MP F USE at the distribution b oard.
If the plug supplied with this equipm ent has a detachable fu
cover, be sure to attach the fuse cover after you change t
fuse. Never use the plug without the fuse cover. If you shoul

The self-diagnosis function is activated.

Count how many

(standby) indicator
flashes between each two second break.
For
example, the indicator flashes three times, then there
is a two second break, followed by another three
flashes, etc.

Press

on the top edge of the TV to turn it
off, disconnect the mains lead, and inform
your dealer or Sony service centre of how
the indicator flashes (number of flashes).

connected to the scart connector
• Press / to display the c onne cted equi pm ent list,
then sel ect t he d esired input.
• Check the connection between the optional equipment and
the TV.
Double images or ghosting
• Check the aerial/cable connection.
• Ch eck the aerial location and d irection.
Only snow and noise appear on the screen
• Check if the aerial is broken or bent.
• Check if the aerial has reached the end of its serviceabl
life (three to five years in normal use, one to two years a
the seaside).
Distorted picture (dotted lines or stripes)
• Keep the TV aw ay fro m electrical noise sour ces su ch as
cars, motorcycles, hair-dryers or optical equipment.
• When installing optional equipment, leave some space
between the optional equipment and the TV.
• Make sure that the aerial/ca ble is connected using the
supplied coaxial cable.
• Keep the aerial/cable TV cable away fro m oth er
connecting cables.
Picture or sound noise when viewing a TV channel
• Adjust “AFT” (Automatic Fine Tuning) to o btain better
picture reception (page 32).
Some tiny black points and/or bright points appear
on the screen
• The picture of a display unit is composed of pixels. Tin
black points an d/or bright points (pixels) on the screen
not indicate a malfunction.
The picture contours are disrupted
• Select “St andard” or “ Off” in “ Motion Enhan cer”
(page 2 6).
No colour on programmes
• Select “Reset ” (page 21).
No colour or irregular colour when viewing a
signal from the 3 sockets
• Check the con nection of the 3 sockets and check if
each so ckets are fir mly sea ted in t heir respe ctive soc kets.
Sound
No sound, but good picture
• Press

Ch
annels
The desired channel cannot be selected
• Switch b etween digital and an alogue mode and select the
desired digital/analogue channel.
Some channels are blank
• Scrambled/Subscription only channel. Subscribe to the
pay TV service.
• Channel is used only for data (n o pictur e or sound).
• Contact the broadcaster for transmission details.
Digital channels are not displayed
• Contact a loc al inst aller to find out if digital transmissions
are provided in your area.
• Upgrade to a higher gain aerial.
Gen er
al
The TV turns off automatically (the TV enters
standby mode)
• Check if the “S leep Tim er ” is activ ated, or co nfirm the
“D uration” setting of “On Timer” (page 28).
• If no signal is received and no op eration is p erformed in
the TV mode for 10 min utes, the TV autom atically
switches to standby mode.
The TV turns on automatically
• Check if the “On Timer” is activated (page 28).
Some input sources cannot be selected
• Select “A V Pr eset” and can cel “Skip” of the input source
(page 27).
The remote does not function
• Repl ace the batteries.
The “Store Display Mode: On” message appears
on the screen
• Select “All R ese t” in the “Set-up” menu (page 29).
HDMI
equipment does not appear on “HDMI Device List”
• Check that your equip ment is H DMI control compatible
equipment.
Not all channels are tuned
• Check su pport we b site f or cable provide information.
