CHALKY FINISH PAINT
Simple tips for a perfect chalky finish!
Begin by gathering everything you need for your project.
Stopping in the middle of the process can impact the final look.
Make sure you have :
• Krylon Chalky Finish Paint
• A high-quality nylon/polyester brush*
• Lint-free cloths
• Medium-grit sandpaper
First, do this simple test:
• Remove any hardware and decorative accents.
• Then test a small hidden area of your project to see if sanding
or additional surface prep is needed.
Next prep like this:
• Make sure all surfaces are sound, clean, dull and dry.
• Remove any loose paint.
• Wash with a mild, non-abrasive, oil-free cleaner and water to remove any dirt or waxes.
• Rinse completely, let dry.
• Sand glossy surfaces dull to promote coating adhesion; Remove sanding dust with
a damp cloth.
• Set up your painting area in a well-ventilated space and protect surrounding areas.
Make sure to do this:
• Using a clock for accurate timing, stir paint for 2-3 minutes
for adequate mixing and optimal results.
• After mixing for 2-3 minutes, test paint on a small area. If paint beads
up on the surface, sand the surface and test again.
Apply like this:
• Coat the surface evenly using a high-quality nylon/polyester brush.
Spreading the paint too thin will aect coverage.
• Keep in mind darker finishes or more-porous surfaces, like bare wood will
need two or more coats, especially if you are using a lighter color paint.

Sand the surface until it’s dull, clean and dry
V.I.P. STEP
Don’t skip this very important step. Stir the paint for 2-3 minutes.
PAINT
Apply evenly with a high-quality nylon polyester brush
