Safety Cautions
Carefully read all the instructions before using the appliance and keep in a safe
place for future reference.
Always follow these safety cautions when using this appliance to avoid personal injury or damage to the appliance.
This appliance should be used only as described within this instruction book.
n Ensure all packaging materials and any promotional labels or stickers are removed from the slow cooker before
first use.
n Always inspect the appliance before use for noticeable signs of damage. Do not use if damaged, or if the
appliance has been dropped. In the event of damage, or if the appliance develops a fault, contact the Cuisinart
Customer Care Line (refer to UK After Sales Service section for further information).
n Do not use this appliance if the lead is damaged. In the event of lead damage discontinue use immediately. If
the lead is damaged it must be replaced with a special lead available from the manufacturer or its service agent.
(See “UK After Sales Service”).
n Whilst in use the surfaces will become extremely hot. Do not touch hot surfaces. Always use handles.
n Unplug from the mains when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before cleaning the appliance. To
disconnect, turn the control to ‘OFF’ setting, and then remove the plug from the mains.
n The lid and bowl can be removed for washing by hand or in a dishwasher.
n Do not immerse the heater base in water or put it in a dishwasher. Disconnect from the mains, allow to cool
and clean using a damp cloth. Allow to dry thoroughly before re-use or storing.
n This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental
capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to
ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
n Do not use any accessories or attachments with this appliance other than those recommended by Cuisinart.

n To protect against fire, electric shock or personal injury, do not immerse cord, plug or unit in water or other
liquids.
n Do not leave the lead hanging over the edge of a kitchen table or worktop. Avoid contact between the lead
and hot surfaces.
n Maximum cooking capacity of the appliance is 5.0 Litres.
n For indoor use only.
n For domestic use only.
n Extreme caution must be used when moving a Slow Cooker containing hot oil or other hot liquids.
n Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric hob or in an oven.
n Avoid sudden temperature changes such as placing a chilled ceramic pot into the base of the appliance. Really
cold food or water can crack a hot ceramic pot.
n When hot, never place the ceramic pot directly on a table or work surface.
n Never heat ceramic pot when it is empty.
n Do not touch sides of the ceramic pot or the housing whilst food is cooking.
n Do not place the ceramic pot into an oven, heat only using the base of the appliance it is sold with.
n The ceramic pot should always be at least half full for best cooking results; however, the appliance should never
be more than three quarters full or approximately 4cm from the top rim.
n For food safety reasons, whole chickens should not be cooked in a Slow Cooker. They may not reach safe
temperature in the correct amount of time.
n When cooking meat, set the appliance on ‘High’ for 2 hours and then reduce to ‘Low’ for the remaining cooking
time.
n Because the appliance heats and cooks at low temperatures, food should be at room temperature before it
goes into the appliance.
n This appliance should be used only for preparation of drinks / food as described within the instructions for use
that accompany it. Please retain these instructions for future reference.
n Always ensure that your hands are dry before removing the plug from the mains socket. Never pull the plug
out of the mains socket by its lead.

n To avoid injury or possible fire, do not cover the appliance when in use.
n If this appliance is used for re-heating foods, also ensure the food is piping hot before eating.
n Do not connect this appliance to an external timer or remote control system.
n This appliance complies with the basic requirements of Directives 04/108/EEC (Electromagnetic Compatibility)
and 06/95/EEC (Safety of domestic electrical appliances) amended by Directive 93/68/EEC (CE Marking).
WARNING: A cut off plug inserted into a 13 amp outlet is a serious safety (shock) hazard. Ensure the cut off
plug is disposed of safely.
WARNING: Polythene bags over the product or packaging may be dangerous. To avoid danger of suffocation,
keep away from babies and children. These bags are not toys.
The temperature of all surfaces marked with this symbol will be very hot when the appliance is in use.
DO NOT TOUCH these surfaces as possible injury could occur. Allow to cool completely before
handling this appliance.
The
symbol on the product or on its packaging indicates that this product may not be treated as
household waste. Instead it should be handed over to an appropriate collection point for the recycling of electrical

Instructions for Use
Before using this appliance, ensure the ceramic pot, cooking rack and lid are cleaned and dry.
A Cooking with the timer
n Place the housing base on a at, clean and dry surface. Place the ceramic pot in the housing base.
n Fill the ceramic pot with desired ingredients. Place the lid on top of the ceramic pot and plug the unit into the
mains.
n To turn unit on, press the ‘On/Off’ button. The slow cooker will beep once, the ‘On/Off’ red indicator light and
the timer (00:00) on the LCD display will ash.
n Set the desired cooking time by pushing the + or - button. The timer ranges from 00:00 to 24:00 hours in
30-minute increments.
NOTE: If there is no timer input, the ‘On/Off’ and the timer on the reading display will continue to ash.
n Press the + button to increase time in 30-minute increments or press the - button to decrease time in
30-minute increments.
Press and hold + or - to scroll automatically in 30-minute steps.
Press + and - simultaneously to reset to 00:00. Repeat the above two steps to reset time.
After setting time, timer display and ‘On/Off’ indicator will still ash. Please proceed to setting the cooking
mode.
Setting Cooking Modes
n Three cooking modes,’ Simmer’, ‘Low’ and ‘High’. You can adapt many recipes to slow down the cooking time,
or speed it up, to coordinate meals to your schedule.
We recommend ‘Simmer’ or ‘Low’ setting for recipes that cook longer. If you’re starting a dish later in the day,
select the ‘High’ setting to ensure that your food is cooked through and warm.

n When the desired cooking mode is selected, the unit will beep once, the blue indicator next to ‘Low’, ‘High’ or
‘Simmer’ will illuminate to denote the selected cooking mode, and any ashing light will become solid.
NOTE: The cooking mode can be overridden by pressing any other mode buttons.
n Once cooking time has expired, the unit will automatically switch to the ‘Warm’ setting. The blue indicator light
next to the ‘Warm’ setting will light and remain on Warm for 8 hours maximum (this time can be adjusted at
any time). When the ‘Warm’ time expires, the unit will beep for 5 seconds and then turn off automatically.
n To turn the unit off manually, press the 'On/Off' button.
n Lift the ceramic pot using oven gloves.
B Cooking without the timer
n Place the housing base on a at, clean and dry surface. Place the ceramic pot in the housing base.
n Fill the ceramic pot with desired ingredients. Place the lid on top of the ceramic pot and plug the unit into the
mains.
n To turn unit on, press ‘On/Off’ button. The slow cooker will beep once, and the ‘On/Off’ indicator red light and
timer (00:00 ) on the LCD display will ash.
n Set the desired cooking mode by pressing ‘High’, ‘Low’ or ‘Simmer’ setting. Refer to the cooking table guidelines
on page 11. Once 24-hour default cooking time has expired, the unit will automatically switch to the ‘Warm’
setting for 8 hours.

C Hints and Tips
n Before food is added, the ceramic pot can be lightly coated with cooking spray to avoid sticking.
n In general, cooking for 1 hour on ‘High’ is the equivalent of cooking for 2 hours on ‘Low’
n If you are not ready to serve the meal as soon as the food is cooked, switch the temperature dial to the ‘Warm’
mode and the appliance will ‘Warm’ food at the perfect temperature until you are ready to serve.
n Each time the lid is removed, heat will be lost and will add 15-20 minutes to your cooking time. If you need to
stir, lift the lid just enough to get the spoon in.
n To reduce fat content from recipes, remove as much of the visible fat as possible from meats and poultry. Cook
and drain all minced meats. Remove skin from poultry.

D Adapting your recipes
n For most recipes, reduce the cooking liquid by at least 50% (soups are the exception). Liquids do not evaporate
as they do in traditional cooking, and you often end up with more than when you began.
n In most cases, all ingredients can go in the ceramic pot at once and can cook all day on a ‘low’ setting. While
it is not necessary to brown or sauté vegetables (onion, carrots, celery, peppers etc.), it will add to the avour.
Browning meats adds both avour and visual appeal and helps to remove fat.
n Certain cuts of meat are more appropriate for the slow cooking; see ‘Meat and Poultry Guide for Slow
Cooking’ table.
n Dairy products milk, sour cream and some cheeses will break down and curdle during slow cooking. Substitute
with canned evaporated milk or dried skimmed milk or add dairy products during the last 30 minutes of
cooking.
n When making soups, add solid ingredients to the appliance and then liquid to cover. If a thinner soup is desired,
add more liquid to taste.
n If your recipe requires precooked pasta, undercook it.
n Add rice to recipes during the last hour of cooking.

Cleaning & Maintenance
Before rst use and after every use, clean each part thoroughly.
n Unplug your appliance and allow it to cool before cleaning.
n Place ceramic pot, cooking rack and lid in the dishwasher or wash with warm soapy water.
n If food sticks to the side of the ceramic pot, ll with warm soapy water and allow to soak before cleaning.
n If scouring is necessary, use a non abrasive cleanser or liquid detergent with a nylon pad or brush.
n Never immerse the stainless steel housing plug or lead in water or other liquid, or place in a dishwasher.
n To clean simply wipe the exterior with a clean damp cloth and dry thoroughly before storing. Apply any
cleaning agents to the cloth before cleaning, not to the housing.
n Make sure all parts are clean and dry before storing. Store appliance in a clean, dry place.
n Periodically check all parts before reassembly. If any part is damaged or the ceramic pot is chipped or cracked,
DO NOT USE APPLIANCE. Contact the Cuisinart helpline (see UK After Sales Service).

Apple Sauce
Juice 1 lemon
150-210ml water
1.35kg apples, e.g. Gala or Braeburn
Sugar, optional
Cinnamon, optional
n Mix the lemon juice with enough water to make 220ml and pour into the ceramic pot.
n Core but do not peel the apples and cut them into 5cm chunks.
n Add the apples to the lemon and water mixture, cover and cook on ‘Low’ for 4 hours.
n When cooked and the slow cooker has switched to ‘Warm’, use a potato masher to mash the apples for a
chunky sauce, alternatively or blend for a smooth sauce.
n Season with sugar and/or cinnamon if desired.
