General Power tool Safety Warnings
WARNING Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may
result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.
Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
The term "power tool" in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) chain saw .
1) Work area safety
a) Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
b) Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or
dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
c) Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
2) Electrical safety
a) Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with
earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
b) Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators.
There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
c) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric
shock.
d) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away
from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock and must
only be replaced by a qualified electrician or service agent.
e) When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable
for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
f) If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use a residual current device (RCD) protected
supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock and is recommended in ALL conditions.
3) Personal safety
a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power
tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while
operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
b) Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as a dust mask,
non-slip safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
c) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to power source
and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool.
Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energising power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a
rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.
e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in
unexpected situations.
f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving
parts. Loose clothes, jewelry or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
g) If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are
connected and properly used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards.
- 4 -
4) Power tool use and care
a) Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job
better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.
b) Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with
the switch is dangerous and must be repaired by a suitable qualified engineer.
c) Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the battery pack from the power tool before making any
adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of
starting the power tool accidentally.
d) Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or
these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
e) Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other
condition that may affect the power tool’s operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many
accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind
and are easier to control.
g) Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account
the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those
intended could result in a hazardous situation.
5) Service
Have your power tools serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will
ensure that safety of the power tool is maintained.
Chainsaw safety warnings:
1) Keep all parts of your body in safe distance from the saw when running. Before starting the saw, make sure
the saw chain does not touch anything. A moment of inattention when working with the chainsaw is able to cause the
saw chain to catch your clothes or parts of your body.
2) Use your right hand to hold the chainsaw by its rear handle and your left hand to hold it by its front handle.
Holding the chainsaw the opposite way increases the risk of injury..
3) Wear protective CE approved glasses and ear protectors. Wearing head, hand and leg protection equipment
is also recommended. Suitable protective clothing minimizes the risk of injury.
4) Provide safe posture at all times and use the chainsaw only when standing on a solid, safe and level surface.
A slippery or unstable surface (eg. ladder),, may lead to loss of balance and control..
5) When cutting a branch under tension, understand that the branch will bounce back so keep well out of the
way.
6) Be especially careful when cutting scrubs and saplings. Thin material may get caught in the chainsaw and hit you
or you may lose your balance.
7) Carry the chainsaw by the front handle and make sure it is switched off and with the chain guard in place.
8) Follow the lubrication, chain tension and accessory equipment replacement instructions. A chain that is not
tightened or lubricated correctly may snap or increase the risk of kickback..
9) Keep the handles dry, clean and free from oil or grease. Wear gloves!
10) Only cut wood. Do not use the chainsaw for work for which it has not been designed. Do not use the
chainsaw to cut plastic , masonry or building materials .
11) Kickback causes and prevention:
Kickback may take place when the saw bar point touches an item or when the wood bends and the saw chain gets stuck
in the cutting.
- 5 -
In many cases, a contact with the bar point may lead to a situation when the operator unexpectedly bends backward and
as a result, the bar is ejected upward toward the operator .
Backlash is a result of inappropriate or wrong use can be prevented by appropriate preventive measures described below:
Hold the saw firmly with both hands with thumbs and fingers embracing the chainsaw handles.
Avoid abnormal body posture and do not cut above the shoulder level. This will prevent a contact with the bar point .
12) Follow the saw chain sharpening and servicing instructions of the manufacturer. Too low depth limiters
increase the risk of backlash.
Residual risks
Even when the tool is used as prescribed it is not possible to eliminate all residual risk factors. The following hazards
may arise in connection with the tool’s construction and design:
1. Damage to lungs if an effective dust mask is not worn.
2. Damage to hearing if effective hearing protection is not worn.
3. Health defects resulting from vibration emission if the appliance is being used over longer period of time or not
adequately managed and properly maintained.
WARNING! This machine produces an electromagnetic field during operation. This field may under some
circumstances interfere with active or passive medical implants. To reduce the risk of serious or fatal injury, we
recommend persons with medical implants to consult their physician and the medical implant manufacturer before
operating this machine.

Checking the chain oil (NOTE: NEVER USE WITHOUT CHAIN OIL !)
The chainsaw is shipped without oil in it. The chain saw must never be used without oil or with an oil level
that is below the indicator. SAE #0W-30 is ideally recommended for general use.
WARNING. Always ensure that the chainsaw is switched off and the plug is removed from the power point before
making any adjustments.
1.Remove oil cap and fill the tank with chain oil. Replace the oil tank cap and tighten well.
2.Lubrication is activated only when the machine is working.
3.Check the oil level periodically through the oil level indicator.
Use good quality ecological chain oil to ensure long life for the moving parts. Do not use
recovered or pre-used oil containing impurities.
Make sure that no dirt gets into the oil tank.
Checking the automatic oil function
Check the automatic operation of the chain lubrication by pointing the tip of the switched-on saw towards a piece of
- 13 -
paper laying on the ground. If a patch of oil appears and becomes larger, then the automatic oil function is working. If
there are no traces of oil even though the oil tank is full, then the automatic oil function is not working.
If the automatic oil function is not working, remove the chain bar and clean out the oil ways of the chainsaw and chain
bar. On reassembly, if the chainsaw is still not working, please take it to an authorized service centre.
Connection
This Multifunction chain saw may only be connected to single-phase 230VAC 50Hz UK Mains outlet. Ensure that the
mains voltage is the same as the operating voltage indicated on the rating plate.
To help prevent the possibility of electric shock when using any mains-operated equipment outdoors, we highly
recommend the use of an RCD (Residual Current Detector) as referred to earlier in these instructions. An RCD is
available separately from Eckman or from most good DIY /Electrical retailers.

Releasing the trigger will the pole saw off. Make sure the saw is running at full speed before starting a cut.
d) When starting a cut, place moving chain against wood. Hold the pole saw firmly in place to avoid possible bouncing
or skating (sideways movement) of saw.
Limbing
Note: The termlimbing is used for the process of removing the branches from a fallen tree.
WARNING: There is a high chance of kickback occurring during limbing operations.NEVER cut with the nose of the
guide bar(1). Be extremely careful to avoid touching the log or other tree limbs with the nose of the guide bar.
NEVER stand on a log while limbing. You may slip or the log may roll
Leave the lower limbs to support the log off the ground
WARNING: Proceed with extreme caution when cutting limbs or logs that are under tension(spring poles). The wood
could spring back towards the operator, causing loss of control over the chainsaw, potentially leading to severe or even
fatal injury
To cut branches off a standing tree, start with an upwards relieving cut, followed by a through-cut from the top(see Fig.L)
- 15 -
WARNING: When cutting free-hanging branches, the saw chain(2)and/or guide bar(1)may be pinched,or the branch
may fall.Either may cause the operator to lose control over the chainsaw. If the saw chain and /or guide bar becomes
pinched, stop the engine immediately, and remove the saw by lifting the branch.DO NOT try to pull the saw out,as this
may lead to damage or injury.
e) Remove pole saw from a cut with saw running at full speed. Stop pole saw by releasing trigger. Make sure chain has
stopped before setting pole saw down.
3) Brake device in the front of front handle
This saw is equipped with a mechanical brake device (see part 6 ) that will stop the chain when you pull it backward.
You must check the brake device before each usage.

Releasing the chain brake:
To be able to use your chain saw again, you must release the saw chain again. First, switch off the
chainsaw. Then push the front finger guard back into the vertical position until it locks in place . The chain
brake is now fully functional again.
Chain sharpening
It is highly recommended that once the chain loses its ability to cut cleanly and safely, either replace it,
have it sharpened by any garden equipment maintenance company, or sharpen it yourself.
To sharpen the chain refer to below and proceed as follows:
3) Disconnect from the mains supply
Wear protective gloves.
Ensure the chain is correctly tensioned.
Engage the chain brake to lock the chain on the bar.
Use a round file (available from all good garden equipment companies) whose diameter is 1.1 times the
cutting tooth depth.
File at an angle perpendicular to the bar, and 38° to the direction of travel.
File each tooth from inside towards outside only.
Sharpen each tooth equally by using the same number of strokes.
Check the safety depth gauge height every 5th-chain sharpening.
If the depth gauges are also trimmed it is essential that the original profile be restored.
Use a depth gauge measuring instrument to check the height of the depth gauge. Depth gauge measuring
jigs are available from most reputable tool merchants.(see figure as below)
Maintenance and servicing
WARNING. Always ensure that the machine is switched off and the plug is removed from the power point
- 18 -
before making any adjustments or maintenance procedures.
1. Always keep the air holes clean on the electric chainsaw body. They tend to become clogged with
sawdust during use and this affects the efficiency of cooling, causing overheating of the motor. Electric
motors that become damaged due to being clogged up with debris are not covered by this
warranty.
2. Do not operate the chainsaw with the air intake on the ground as this will draw foreign particles into the
motor area and damage the windings of the motor.
3. Regularly check to see if any dust or foreign matter has entered the grills near the motor and around
the on/off switch. Use a soft brush and/or vacuum to remove any accumulated dust. Wear safety glasses
to protect your eyes whilst cleaning.
4. If the body of the tool needs cleaning, wipe it with a soft damp cloth. A mild detergent can be used. Do
not use alcohol, petrol or other cleaning agents or abrasives.
5. Never use caustic agents to clean plastic parts.
6. Turn the bar periodically to use both the sides so that it wears evenly.
7. It is essential that motor cooling vents are kept free from a build-up of sawdust and this decreases the
engines tools cooling capacity and causes overheating equipment, oil pump etc. It is recommended that
this is carried out after every use.
8. Clean the guide and oil holes periodically.
9. De-burr the race sides periodically with a flat file. Time may cause any “burrs to detach and damage
the bar.
10. The bar needs to be evened with a flat file if one of the races is higher than another and then smoothed
with a file and fine sandpaper. If races are considerably worn, check that the height
