Electrical Safety. Never operate any tool if there is an electrical hazard.Neveroperatean
electricaltoolinwetconditions.Neveroperateatoolwithanimproperelectricalcordorextension
cord.Neveroperateanelectricaltoolunlessyouarepluggedintoaproperlygroundedoutlet,which
supplies110-120Volts.Werecommendthatyouuseacircuitwhichisprotectedbya30Amp
circuitbreaker.
Ejected Material. Use safe practices to avoid injury from ejected material.BecausetheBufng
andPolishingwheelsturnathighspeed,thereisadangerofbeinginjuredbymaterialsthatmay
beejectedfromthewheelsathighspeed.AlwayswearANSI-certiedeyeprotection.Neverinsert
anyitemintothewheelsifitisnotadequatelyheld.Alwaysstandtoonesideoftheplaneinwhich
thewheelsarespinning,toavoidbeinghitifanitemisejected.Neverallowbystanderstobeinthe
proximityoftheBufferwhileinoperation.
Entanglement. Use extreme caution to prevent loose materials from being caught in the wheels.
Neveroperatethisbufferwithlooseclothing,longhair,jewelry,orotheritemswhichmaybecome
caughtinthespinningwheels.Incaseofentanglement,presstheOFFswitchimmediately.
NOTICE: No list of warnings can be all inclusive. The operator must supply common
sense, and operate this tool in a safe manner.

ASSEMBLY AND OPERATION
To prepare for use, you must mount the Buffer securely on a bench top,
 installbufngwheels,androutethepowersupply.
Mounting the Buffer
1. Placethebufferonthebenchtopwhereyouplantouseit.Thebenchmustbesturdy,and
 preferablyabletoresistvibrations.
2. Besurethe4rubberfeetareonalevelsurface,andthatall4feetarermlycontactingthe
 benchtop.Ifnot,selectanothersightwhichislevel.
3. Youmayusethisbufferwithoutpermanentlymountingit.However,permanentlymountingit
 makesamoresecureinstallation.
4. Topermanentlyinstall,positionthebufferwhereyouwantit;thenmarkthebenchtop
through the holes on the left and right sides of the base. Set the buffer aside, and drill holes
 throughthebenchtopateachmark.Replacethebuffer,andinsertsuitableboltsthroughthe
 bufferbase,andthroughthebenchtop.Secureunderneathusingwashersandnuts.
 Tightenrmly.
InstalltheBufngWheels.
Note: Generally buffers are set up with one wheel for “Rouge”, an abrasive polishing
compound, and one wheel for “Polish” a non-abrasive compound. Since Rouge can
contaminate the Polishing wheel, never allow the abrasive compound to come in contact
with the Polishing wheel.
1. WhenfacingtheBuffer,thespindlenutontherightsideusesarighthandthread.TheNuton
the left side uses a left hand thread. Do not mix these up.
2. RemovetheSpindlenut.ThenremovetheOuterFlange.
3. SlidetheBufngWheel(NotIncluded)ontotheSpindle.
4. ReplacetheOuterFlange.ReplacetheNut,andtightenrmly.
5. Repeat this process for the other side.
 NOTE:YoumaypurchasesuitableBufngWheelsandpolishingcompoundfrom
Harbor Freight Tools.
Route the Electrical Cord.
 WARNING:Onlyplugthepowercordintoagrounded(3-prong)outletwhichdelivers
110-120Volts.Werecommendthatyouuseacircuitwhichisprotectedbya30-amp 
breaker switch.
1. Chooseasuitableoutlet.
2. Determinearouteforthepowercordwhichwillkeepitawayfromothertools,moisture,
 dangerofbeingcutordamagedbyotherequipment,andawayfrompathways.
3. MakesurethePowerSwitchonthefrontoftheBufferisOFF(pushedin)beforepluggingin
 thePowerCord.
Safe Operation
1. NeverpullthePowerSwitchoutintotheONpositionuntilyouarepreparedtodoso.
2. AlwayswearANSI-approvedeyeprotectionwhenusingthisbuffer.
3. Holdtheworkpieceagainstthebufngwheelslightlybelowthehorizontalmid-pointofthe
 wheel,andataslightdownwardangle.Thiswillreducethelikelihoodofthepiecebeing
 ejectedoutward,shoulditslipfromyourhandsortheholder.
MAINTENANCE
This tool requires very little maintenance. However, to keep it in best condition:
1. CleanyourBufferperiodically.
2. Keeptheventilationholesfreeofdebris.
3. Whennotinuse,keepyourBuffercoveredtopreventmoisturedamage,andcontamination.

GROUNDING / VOLTAGE WARNING
Commonhouseholdcurrentis110-120volts.Aslongastheoutletusedwiththistoolisratedfrom
110-120Vtherewillbenocomplicationsusingitwithhouseholdreceptacles.Plugthetoolintoa
110-120Vproperlygroundedoutlet.Werecommendthatyouuseacircuitwhichisprotectedbya
15-ampere,dualelementtimedelayorcircuitbreaker.
NEVERtrytopluga110-120Vtoolintoa220-240Vcircuitorseriouscomplicationsandpossible
injurytotheoperatormayoccur.Theplugshavedifferentshapestopreventthis.
Thistoolhasathree-prongplug.Thethird(round)prongistheground.Cuttingoffthegroundwill
resultinasafetyhazardandvoidthewarranty.
Iftheoutletyouareplanningtouseisthetwo-prongtype,donotremoveoralterthegrounding
pronginanymanner.Useanadapterandalwaysconnectthegroundinglugtoaknowngrounding
source.Itisrecommendedthatyouhaveaqualiedelectricianreplacethetwo-prongoutletwitha
properlygroundedthree-prongoutlet.
EXTENSION CORDS
Yourtoolhasathree-prongplug,thereforeyoumustuseathree-prongextensioncord.Onlyuse
roundedjacketextensioncordslistedbytheUnderwritersLaboratories(UL).Improperuseof
extensioncordsmaycauseinefcientoperationofyourtoolwhichcanresultinoverheating.Be
sureyourextensioncordisratedtoallowsufcientcurrentowtothemotor.
Ifyouareusingthetooloutdoors,useanextensioncordratedforoutdooruse(signiedby“WA”on
thejacket).
Theextensioncordmusthaveaminimumwiresizedependingontheamperageofthetoolandthe
lengthoftheextensioncord.ThissizeisdeterminedbyitsAWG(AmericanWireGauge)rating.The
smallerthegauge,thegreaterthecable’scapacity.Theamountofcordsuseddoesnotmatter:Total
lengthdeterminestheminimumAWGrating.EverycordmustmeettheAWGrating.Usethechart
belowtodeterminewhatAWGratingisrequiredforyoursituation.Cordlengthisratedinfeet.Harbor
Freight Tools can supply UL listed and outdoor rated cords in multiple AWG ratings if needed.
