For best cleaningresults,prevent items
from nesting together by placing some
items in the basketwith handlesup and
some with handles down. Load knives,
handlesup,throughtheslotsin thehinged
coveredsection(s)(whenclosed).
Be surethatthin, finelypointeditemsdo
not extend through the basket.
This could block the lower
washarm.
Small, lightweight items
like baby spoons and
spoons
should be placed in the
section(s) with the hinged
cover(s).

Usethissupplementalbasketintheupper

The upperrack canbe removedwhentall
or oversizeditemsneedto be loadedinto
the lowerrack.
TO REMOVE:
_- Rollthe upper rack 1/3 to 1/2 of the
wayout.
>- Removetheplasticrackstopfromthe
end of each track. To remove each
plastic rack stop, push inward
(towardstherack)on the ridgedarea
of the rack stop. The rack stop will
snapopenandcanbe easilyremoved
by pullingstraightout. Take care to
supportthe trackwhileremovingrack
stops.
Roll the rack all the way out of the
trackand removefrom thedishwash-
er.
Reverse the above procedure to
replacethe upperrack into the dish-
washer.

CONNECTINGk PORTABLE
1. Turnonthe faucetat the sink untilthe
waterrunshot.Turnoffthefaucet.
2. Pull the connectorfrom the recessin
thebackofthedishwasher.
3. Pressdownon the thumbreleaseand
lift theconnectorontothefaucet.
4. Remove pressure from the thumb
releaseandtugslightlyon theconnec-
torto be sureitissecurelyin place.
5. Turnthe hotwateronfullforce.
6. Check thatthe sink drain is open so
waterfrom the dishwashercan drain
properly.
7. Pulltheelectricalcordfromthe recess.
Plugitintoa properlygroundedoutlet.
8. Selectthepropercycleand optionsfor
theload andstartthe dishwasher.

press the pressure release button

HOTWATER
For optimal cleaning and drying
results, hot water is necessary.The
incomingwatertemperatureshouldbe
120-140° F (49-60° C) to propertyacti-
vatethedetergentandmeltgreasyfood
soils.
Tochecktheincomingwatertemperature,
turnon the hot waterfaucet nearestthe
dishwasherandletitrunintoaglassinthe
sink.Placea candythermometerin the
glassand checkthe temperatureonceit
hasstoppedrising.If the temperatureis
below120°F (49° C),havea qualifiedper-
sonraisethewaterheaterthermostatset-
ting.
Beforestartingthedishwasher,turnonthe
hotwaterfaucet and let it run untilthe
waterishot.Thisassuresthattheinitialfill
ofwateris hot.
DETERGENT
Usea detergentdesignedspecificallyfor
useinanautomaticdishwasher.Besureit
isfresh andstoredin a cool,dryplace(not
underthesink).
RECOMMENDEDAMOUNT
Toolittledetergentresultsinpoorcleaning,
hard water filming/spottingand poor dry-
ing. Toomuchdetergentcan cause per-
manentetching/cloudiness.
The amountof detergentto use isdeter-
mined by the hardnessof the water and
soilleveloftheload. Refertothefollowing
chart for detergentusage recommenda-
tions.
Do not usedetergent with Rinse Only.
Leavethedetergentlid openwhenrunning
RinseOnly.
In extremelyhard water conditions (13
grainspergallonor more*),itisdifficultto
achievegoodresultswith anydishwasher.
A mechanicalwatersoftenermaybe nec-
essaryto improvewaterquality,detergent

cause.

RINSEAID
Regular use of a rinse aid improves
drying, reduces spottingand filming,
and reducesmoistureleft on thedish-
washerinterior.
Your dishwasher features an automatic
rinseaid dispenserlocatednearthe deter-
gentcupsin thedoor.
The clearwindowinthecenterof thedis-
pensercap allowsyouto see if thereis
rinseaidinthereservoir.Whenthewindow
is colored,there is rinseaid in the dis-
penser.'Whenthewindowbecomesclear,
itistimetorefillthe dispenser.Checkthe
dispensermonthly.
Toadd rinseaidtothedispenser,turnthe
cap counterclockwiseto open. Remove
the capandpourliquidrinseaid intothe
opening.Replacethecapandturnitclock-
wise.
Use the LESSsettingfor soft waterand
theMOREsettingfor hard water.Set the
capanywherebetweentheseamountsas
needed.

SelectSanitize with Auto Clean (select
models),Heavy,Normal,or Light Wash
to sanitizedishware. At the end of the
cycle,whenthe cyclemonitorrecognizes
thattheproperconditionshavebeenmet,
theSANITIZEDlightilluminates.
EXTRARINSE(Selectmodels)
Select ExtraRinsetoadd a rinsetothe
cycle. An extra rinsehelpsto improve
resultsinhardwatersituations.Theextra
rinseis already built intothecycle when
HeavyWash isselected.
HEATEDDRY
SelectHeated Drytoturnonthe heating
elementduringdry for enhanceddrying
results.WhenHeatedDryis notselected,
toweldryingofsomeitemssuchas plastic
and teflonmay be necessaryand more
moisturemay be noticedadheringtothe
dishwasherinterior.Witheitherdryoption,
it isnormaltonoticevaporescapingfrom
thedoorvent.

Todrainthedishwasherandthenturnitoff,
pressDrain/Offonce.PressDrain/Offtwice
toturnthedishwasheroffwithoutdraining.

I WhenSanitizeisselected,cycles
are monitoredtoassuresanitiza-
lion.Unusuallylowwatertemper-
aturewillpreventthesar_dzation
protocolfrom beingsatisfiedand
theSANITIZEDlightwiltnot illu-
minateattheend ofthecycle.
TheCLEANlightilluminatesattheendof
the cycle and remains lit until the door
has been open for 30 secondscontinu-
ously.

dry periodand goesoutwhenthe cycleis

The HEATINGDELAY light illumina_s

DELAY/RESUME
TheDelay/Resumeoptioncanbe usedto
automaticallystartthecycleat a latertime,
suchas duringoff-peakhoursfor reduced
energy cost or to reduce daytime heat
buildupinthe home.
TOSETUPA DELAY:
1. Select the appropriate cycle and
optionsforthe load.
2. PresstheDelay/Resumepaduntilthe
desiredamount of delay time (1 to 9
hours)is selected.Thedelaytimewill
begin countingdownwhenthe pad is
released.
3. The Delay/Resumeindicatorlightwill
remain lit untilthe delay time has
counteddown.
4. The cycle will automaticallystart as
soonas thedelaytime expires.
I If Delay/Resumeischosenwith-
out selecting a cycle and/or
options, the dishwasher will
selectthelastcycleused.(Itwill
not rememberthe Rinse Only
cycle.)
TOCANCELADELAY:
Wait at least 2 seconds,then pressthe
Delay/Resumepad again. The indicator
lightwillgooutandthecyclewillstartor
resumeimmediately.
CONTROLlOCKOPTION
The control touchpadsconbe locked to
prevent unwanteduse. If thisfeature is
activatedbetweencycles,thedishwasher
cannot be operateduntilthecontrolsare
unlocked.If desired,the controlscon be
lockedaftera cycleordelayhasstarted.

After loading the dishwasher and
addingdetergent,closethedishwash-
er by pressingthe dooruntilthelatch
clicks.
To start the dishwasher,firmly press
the desiredcycle and optionspads.
Aftera pause,thefillwillbegin.Topre-
vent unplanned cycle or option
changes,theseselectionsare"locked
in"after1 minute.
The indicatorlights for the selected
cycleandoptionswillglow.
To cancel an option, press the pad
again. To cancela cycle, press the
DmintOffpad.
ADDINGAFORGOTTENITEM
For best cleaning, the forgotten item
shouldbe addedearlyinthecycle.
1. Press the Delay/Resume pad or
unlatchthedoor.
2. Waitfor thewatercirculationtostop.
3. Openthe doorandadd theitem.
4. Closeandlatchthedoor.

highqualitybrand.
Ifcloudinessisnotremovable,itisetching.Thisisanerosionofthesurfaceoftheglasswareandcanbecausedbywaterthatistoohot,
fromusingtoomuchdetergentorbyprewashing.Detergentneedsfoodsoiltoactupon.Ifetchinghasoccurred,theglasswareisperma-
nentlydamaged.Topreventfurtheretching,adjustthedetergentamounttomatchthewaterhardness,stopprewashing,andbesureincom-
ingwatertemperatureis notgreaterthan140° F (60° C). Usewaterheatingoptionsonlywhenincomingwatertemperatureis below
120°F(49°C).
