Introduction
About the Product
This product is a power-saving and high-performance embedded type computer with a processor from the
Intel
®
Ivy Bridge processor series.
Along with its power-saving and high-performance features, this product has a rich variety of interfaces
and achieves fan-less operation by way of natural air-cooling.
The Core i7-3517UE processor or Celeron 927UE processor can be selected for the CPU.
Additionally, a 2-slot expansion model (which can be equipped with PCI busses in two slots) and a 4-slot
expansion model (which can be equipped with a PCI Express [x8] bus) are available.
Various interfaces such as dual LAN / USB3.0 / HDMI / S-ATA slot / CFast slot / RS-232C and the slot-
in 2.5 inches SATA hard disk bay unit being installed, this product is widely usable as a platform based
on the OS for the general-purpose PC.
Embedded-type CPU and chip set have been adopted. The use of readily available parts ensures the ease
of the use of the product. In addition, the use of CONTEC-customized BIOS allows support to be
provided at the BIOS level.

- Adoption of ultra-low voltage processor Core i7-3517UE (1.70GHz) or Celeron 927UE (1.50GHz),
QM77 chip set, and 4GB of memory
These products has the power-saving high-performance, ultra-low-voltage processor Core i7-3517UE
(1.70GHz) or Celeron 927UE (1.50GHz), QM77 chip set, and 4GB DDR3 SDRAM memory, achieve a
high-level computing and drawing ability. The adoption of an embedded-type CPU and chipset enables
a stable power supply.
- Industrial BOX-PC equipped with a rich variety of interfaces
This product is equipped with a rich variety of interfaces such as an analog RGB, DVI-D, HDMI, USB
3.0 × 4 *1, USB 2.0 × 2, 1000BASE-T × 2, serial (RS-232C) × 3, DIO, and audio.
- Intel® Ivy Bridge processor series support
This product supports the Intel® Ivy Bridge processor series, and two types of CPUs can be selected to
match various applications.

Slot-in method is adopted allowing easy install / removal.
- Expansion slots to hold PCI bus boards (Model with Expansion Slot).
BX-1000P2 has two PCI slots.
BX-1000P4 has one PCI-Express(x8) slot and three PCI slots.
- Fan-less operation achieved by natural air-cooling
The use of a power-saving CPU and naturally-cooled cabinet structure allows fanless operation.
- Clamps prevent problems caused by cable disconnections
Unnecessary trouble can be avoided by the use of clamps for prevention of cable disconnection.
- Installation-compatible with conventional products in the IPC-BX 900 / 710 series
For the installation-compatible with conventional products in the IPC-BX 900 / 710 series, it is easy to
migrate from the existing system.
- Safety design required for embedded applications
For Windows Embedded Standard installed model, it is possible to use the EWF *2 function of OS. It is
designed for safety required for embedding purpose, for example, prohibiting unwanted writing to the
storage device with EWF function will relieve the concern about the writing limits to the storage device
and prevent an unintentional system alteration.
*1 The Windows Embedded Standard 2009 model does not support USB 3.0. The USB 3.0 ports operate as USB 2.0
ports.
*2 EWF (Enhanced Write Filter) is a function specific to Windows Embedded Standard that protects the disk from being actually written

For replacement or repair, return the device freight prepaid, with a copy of the original invoice. Please
obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization number (RMA) from the CONTEC group office where you
purchased before returning any product.

Handling Precautions
- Always check that the power supply is turned off before connecting or disconnecting power cables.
- Do not modify the product.
- Always turn off the power before inserting or removing circuit boards or cables.
- This product is not intended for use in aerospace, space, nuclear power, medical equipment, or other
applications that require a very high level of reliability. Do not use the product in such applications.
- If using this product in applications where safety is critical such as in railways, automotive, or
disaster prevention or security systems, please contact your retailer.
- Do not attempt to replace the battery as inappropriate battery replacement poses a risk of explosion.
- For battery replacement, contact your retailer as it must be performed as a process of repair.
- When disposing of a used battery, follow the disposal procedures stipulated under the relevant laws
and municipal ordinances.

- Do not use or store this product in a location exposed to high or low temperature that exceeds range
of specification or susceptible to rapid temperature changes.
Example: - Exposure to direct sun
- In the vicinity of a heat source
- Do not use this product in extremely humid or dusty locations. It is extremely dangerous to use this
product with its interior penetrated by water or any other fluid or conductive dust. If this product
must be used in such an environment, install it on a dust-proof control panel, for example.
- Avoid using or storing this product in locations subject to shock or vibration that exceeds range of
specification.
- Do not use this product in the vicinity of devices that generate strong magnetic force or noise. Such
products will cause this product to malfunction.
- Do not use or store this product in the presence of chemicals.
- To clean the BOX-PC, wipe it gently with a soft cloth dampened with either water or mild detergent.
Do not use chemicals or a volatile solvent, such as benzene or thinner, to prevent pealing or
discoloration of the paint.
- This products case may become hot. To avoid being burned, do not touch that section while this
product is in operation or immediately after turning off the power. Avoid installation in a location
where people may come into contact with that section.
- CONTEC does not provide any guarantee for the integrity of data on storage device.
- Always disconnect the power cable from the receptacle before mounting or removing the expansion
board, or before connecting or disconnecting any connector.
- To prevent corruption of files, always shutdown the OS before turning off this product.
- CONTEC reserves the right to refuse to service a product modified by the user.
- In the event of failure or abnormality (foul smells or excessive heat generation), unplug the power
cord immediately and contact your retailer.
- To connect with peripherals, use a grounded, shielded cable.
- The CFast, SATA HDD doesn't support hot plug. While this product is turned on, do not insert or
remove the CFast, SATA HDD or touch the CFast, SATA HDD on the product. This product may
malfunction or cause a failure.
- If you use a CFast card or HDD other than the optional products, we cannot guarantee the
specifications of this product. If you want to use the product within its specifications, be sure to use
the optional CFast card or HDD. For more details on the option list, see chapter 7.
- Component Life:
(1) Battery---The internal calendar clock and CMOS RAM are backed by a Lithium primary battery.
The backup time at a temperature of 25°C with the power disconnected is 10 years or
more.
(2) CFast-----The Windows Embedded Standard pre-install model uses a CFast in the OS storage
area.
The estimated failure rate is after 60,000 rewrite operations.
(3) HDD------The Windows 7 Professional pre-install model uses a HDD in the OS storage area.
The estimated service life is 30,000 hours (time spent with the power on) or 5 years,
whichever comes first.
* Replacement of expendables is handled as a repair (there will be a charge).
* Component life is not guaranteed value but only referential value.
- According to this product's specifications, the product may be restarted from the BIOS screen when
the device starts, but this has no effect on the operations after the OS starts.

When connecting to the network, be aware of security-related problems. See the examples of Security
measures below and set up the product properly along with the network devices.
