PRECAUTIONS

WARNING: When using this product, ba-

sic safety precautions should always

be followed to reduce the risk of

personal injury and damage to equip-

ment.

Read all instructions before use!

Keep work area clean1. . Cluttered

areas invite injuries.

Observe work area conditions2. . Do

not use ATV Lift in damp or wet loca-

tions. Don’t expose to rain. Keep

work area well lighted.

Keep children away3. . Children must

never be allowed in the work area.

Do not let them play with the ATV Lift.

Store idle equipment4. . When not in

use, ATV Lift must be stored in a dry

location to inhibit rust. Always lock

up ATV Lift in a secure location, out

of reach of children.

Use the right tool for the job5. . Do

not attempt to force a small product

or attachment to do the work of a

larger industrial product. There are

certain applications for which this

product was designed. It will do the

job better and more safely at the rate

for which it was intended. Do not

modify this product and do not use

this product for a purpose for which it

was not intended.

Dress properly6. . Do not wear loose

clothing or jewelry as they can be

caught in moving parts. Protective,

electrically non-conductive clothes

and non-skid footwear are recom-

mended when working. Wear restric-

tive hair covering to contain long hair.

Use eye protection7. . Always wear

ANSI approved impact safety gog-

gles.

Do not overreach8. . Keep proper

footing and balance at all times. Do

not reach over or across running

machines.

Maintain tools with care9. . Keep

ATV Lift clean for better and safer

performance. Follow instructions for

lubricating and changing accessories.

Inspect the ATV Lift periodically, and

if damaged, have it repaired by an

authorized technician. The handle

and pedals must be kept clean, dry,

and free from oil and grease at all

times.

Stay alert10. . Watch what you are do-

ing, use common sense. Do not oper-

ate the ATV Lift when you are tired.

Check for damaged parts11. . Before

using any product, any part that ap-

pears damaged should be carefully

checked to determine that it will oper-

ate properly and perform its intended

function. Check for alignment and

binding of moving parts; any broken

parts or mounting xtures; and any

other condition that may affect proper

operation. Any part that is damaged

should be properly repaired or re-

placed by a qualied technician. Do

not use this product if the Stop Bar

(9) doesn’t work properly.

UNPACKING

When unpacking, make sure the

item is intact and undamaged. If any parts

are missing or broken, please call Harbor

Freight Tools at 1-800-444-3353 as soon

as possible.

ASSEMBLY

See the Assembly Drawing on page 9.

Mounting Lifting Frame

Position the 1. Stop Bar (9) and Lift-

ing Frame (11) as shown in the

Assembly Drawing, so that the holes

on the arms of both the Stop Bar (9)

and Lifting Frame (11) line up with

the holes on the welded tabs on the

Rear Lift Arms (5). Place Bolts (7)

through the tabs, Lifting Frame (11),

Bushings (30), and Stop Bar (9).

Note: The Bushings t around the

Bolts and inside the Stop Bar.

-See the inset in the parts diagram

on page 9.

Secure the Bolts with 2. Washers (8)

and Nuts (10).

Mounting Jack into Lifting Frame

Being careful not to damage the 1.

Release Pedal (18), secure the Jack

(16) to the Jack Mounting Plate with

two Bolts (20). See FIGURE 1.

Lift the 2. Lifting Frame (11) on to the

Jack’s ram and place the Pin (37),

on the upper end of the Jack’s arm,

into the bracket on the Lifting Frame

(11), securing it with the Bolt (36).

Installing the Pedal and Handle

Loosen and remove the screw that 1.

holds in the Foot Pedal (17). Insert

the Foot Pedal (17) into the receiver

of the Jack (16). Use the screw you

loosened from the pedal assembly to

secure the Foot Pedal (17) into the

receiver of the Jack.

Insert the 2. Handle (12) into the recep-

tacle on the Rear Lift Arm (5) and

secure it with the Pin (13).

Testing the Stop Bar (9)

The Stop Bar (9) must be locked in 1.

one of the four positions after lifting a

load. Not engaging the Stop Bar (9)

may result in serious injury or death,

and damage the Lift.

OPERATION

Warning!! Do not work on the Lift, or

leave it unattended if the Stop

Bar (9) is not in place, or the Lock

Bolts (25) are not engaged (lifting

the casters off of the ground).

Note: Keep clear of Lift Arms (4 and 5)

during operation. Keep onlookers

and children a safe distance from the

Lift during operation.

Raising the Lift

Lift the 1. Stop Bar (9) and secure it to

the chain (see FIGURE 1).

Use the 2. Handle (12) to roll the Lift

and position it next to the load. Low-

er the Lift by depressing the Release

Pedal (18).

Once positioned under the load, turn 3.

the Lock Bolts (25) until they contact

the ground and lift the Swivel Cast-

ers (22) slightly off of the ground, to

keep the Lift from rolling.

Note: Check the ATV or motorcycle man-

ual for recommended lifting points.

Use tie-down straps (not included) to 4.

secure the load. Repeatedly depress

the Foot Pedal (17) slowly, to raise

the Lift. When the Lift makes contact

with the load, make sure the load sits

evenly on the two Rubber Pads (3)

before raising the load. If the load is

not evenly distributed on the Rubber

Pads (3) or not secured in place with

tie-down straps, it may fall from the

Lift, resulting in personal injury and

property damage.

Continue to raise the Lift to the de-5.

sired height. Disengage the Stop Bar

(9) from the chain. Lock the Lift at

one of the four locking positions with

the Stop Bar (9). See FIGURE 2.

This is a lifting device only. Do not 6.

use to support loads for extended

periods of time. Do not work directly

under the ATV lift.

Lowering the Lift.

Note: Remove all tools from under the Lift

before lowering.

Depress the 1. Foot Pedal (17) slowly

to raise the Lift enough to disengage

the Stop Bar (9). Lift it up and attach

it to the chain.

The lift has a two-speed release sys-2.

tem:

When the release pedal is de-a.

pressed about halfway the lift will

lower quickly. This is to allow low-

ering of the lift while it is unloaded.

When the release pedal is de-b.

pressed completely the lift will lower

slowly. This helps to control the

descent of a loaded lift.

The jack will not lower properly un-3.

less it is installed in the lift and the lift

is completely assembled.

The lift is optimized for loaded use. If 4.

the lift, while unloaded, lowers very

slowly or not at all, place about 20-

30 lb. on the lift and hold the release

pedal down only about halfway.

Once the load is on the ground, re-5.

move the tie-down straps. When the

Lift is clear of the load, turn the Lock

Bolts (25) until they are clear of the

ground, allowing the Swivel Casters

(22) to rmly contact the ground. Roll

the Lift clear of the load.

MAINTENANCE

Keep your ATV Lift dry, protecting it 1.

from wet, corrosive environments.

Periodically lubricate the Lift’s moving 2.

parts.

Periodically check that all of the Lift’s 3.

hardware is securely fastened.

If the Lift does not work to full capac-

ity, you may have air in the hydraulic

system.

Bleeding and lling the Jack with

hydraulic oil.

Place the Lift on a at, level, solid 1.

surface.

If just lling the Jack, open the 2. Oil

Filler Plug (10a) and check the oil.

Fill to the top of the Oil Reservoir

(9a) with a high quality hydraulic oil if

necessary.

If bleeding, with the 3. Oil Filler Plug

(10a) removed, use one foot to step

on and keep the Release Pedal (18)

down, while you quickly pump the

Foot Pedal (17) ten times. This will

bring all the air out of the system.

Continue pumping until no more air

bubbles appear. Fill to the top of the

Oil Reservoir (9a) with a high quality

hydraulic oil if necessary. Repeat if

necessary.

Replace the 4. Oil Filler Plug (10a).

Test the Jack. Make sure it is func-5.

tioning properly before attempting

to lift another load. Pump the Foot

Pedal (17) up and down several

times, and test the Release Pedal

(18) to make sure it is working prop-

erly; if not, repeat the above process.

If the lift continues to function improp-

erly, have a qualied service techni-

cian check the product.
