Reading and storing the

user manual

This user manual accompa-

nies the digital caliper. It

contains important infor-

mation on start-up and handling.

For improved readability, the digital

caliper will be referred to only as

the “caliper” in this user manual.

Before using the caliper, read the

user manual carefully. This partic-

ularly applies for the safety notes.

Failure to comply with the user

manual may result in damage to

the caliper.

Store the user manual for future

use. If you pass the caliper on to

third parties, please be absolutely

sure to include this user manual.

Explanation of symbols

The following symbols and signal

words are used in this user manual,

on the caliper or on the packaging.

a hazard with moderate risk, which

may result in death or severe injury

if not avoided.

avoided, may result in minor or

and not suitable for commercial

Contact with damaged and

leaky batteries may result in

injury or chemical burns.

− Do not touch leaky bat-

teries. If you do happen

to come into contact with

battery acid, wash the

affected area thoroughly

with plenty of clean water.

− To prevent batteries from

leaking, do not charge

them, do not disassemble

them and do not short

circuit them.

− Take the batteries out of

the battery compartment

of the caliper as soon as

they are empty.

− Only replace the battery

with the same type or an

equivalent battery type.

− Batteries must not be

exposed to excessive heat

such as in the form of sun-

light, fire or similar.

− Make sure that the battery

is inserted the right way

around, that is, ensure that

the polarity (+ and -) is

correct.

− Before disposing of the

caliper, the battery must

first be removed and dis-

posed of separately from

the device.

− Take the battery out of the

caliper if you do not use it

for a prolonged period of

time.

Touching the measuring

edges may result in injury.

− The measuring edges are

sharp and pointy. There-

fore only hold the caliper

by the handles.

− Do not allow children to

play with the caliper.

per may result in damage.

− Be careful when perform-

ing measurements on sen-

sitive surfaces to prevent

scratches.

− Do not apply voltage to any

part of the caliper (e.g. for

engraving with an electric

pen) as this could damage

the circuit.

Checking the caliper and

the product contents

1. Take the caliper

out of the

packaging.

2. Check to make sure that the

delivery is complete (see fig. A).

3. Check whether the caliper or the

individual parts

exhibit damage. If this is the

case, do not use the caliper. Con-

tact the manufacturer via the

service address indicated on the

warranty card.

Inserting⁄changing the

battery

A type LR44 button cell has already

been inserted.

1. Open the battery com-

partment

2. Insert the enclosed type LR44

button cell

. Make sure the

polarity is correct in the process.

3. Put the cover of the battery com-

partment back on.

Handling

After inserting the

battery, the caliper

will need approxi-

mately 5–6 seconds

to configure itself. The

caliper may only be

switched on once the

configuration process

is complete.

Handling

1. Push the OFF/ON button

switch the caliper

on.

2. To select the desired unit of mea-

sure (metric/inch), push the mm/

inch button

The caliper saves the

set unit of measure

for the next time you

use it.

3. Set the caliper to 0 by pushing

the ZERO button

in order to

start the measurement. For ad-

ditional functions of the caliper,

refer to the chapter “Functions”.

4. Move the slider

or turn the

fine adjustment dial

to per-

form a measurement.

You can lock the caliper

with the locking screw

to fix the result of

the measurement.

5. Read the result of the measure-

ment on the LCD display

6. Push the OFF/ON button to switch

the caliper off.

Zero setting

The zero setting can be performed

in any position and facilitates step

measurements

− Push the ZERO button

set the zero point. This makes it

possible to perform differential

measurements.

Negative measure-

ments are displayed

with a “–”.

Conversion

The mm/inch conversion may be

performed in any position.

− To display the result of the mea-

surement in another unit, push

the mm/inch button

Fine adjustment dial

The caliper can be set for high pre-

cision with the fine adjustment dial

Switching the caliper on

and off

The caliper can beswitched on and

off manually and automatically.

Automatic activation and

deactivation

1. The caliper

activates auto-

matically when the

slider

is used.

2. After 5 minutes, the caliper will

automatically switch off.

Manual activation and

deactivation

1. Push the OFF/ON button

switch the caliper

on.

2. Push the OFF/ON button to switch

the caliper off.

− Do not use any aggressive

cleaners, brushes with

metal or nylon bristles,

sharp or metallic cleaning

utensils such as knives,

hard scrapers and the like.

They could damage the

surfaces.

− Protect the measuring

scale from watery liquids.

− Never immerse the caliper

in water.

− Wipe the measuring scale of the

caliper off with a dry and clean

cloth (or one that has been wet-

ted with cleaning oil).
