Before using for the rst time
Before making co ee for the rst time, let the
appliance go through two or three ltration
cycles using the indicated maximum amount
of cold water, but without using ground
co ee. is should also be done if the
appliance has not been used for an extended
period of time, and a er descaling.
General information
– A measuring scale on the water container
and on the glass carafe facilitates lling
the container with the correct amount
of clean water. With a dual-scale, the
le scale is used for regular-sized cups
of approx.125ml, while the right scale is
used for smaller cups. Make sure that the
indicated maximum amount of water is
not exceeded.
If several consecutive brewing cycles are
required, switch o the co ee maker a er
each cycle and let the appliance cool down
for approx. 5 minutes.
Important note: When lling the
appliance with fresh water shortly a er
a brewing cycle is completed, there is
a danger of scalding from hot water or
steam escaping through the water outlet.
Making co ee
– Filling with water:
Open the water container lid and ll the
container with the desired quantity of water.
– Inserting the paper lter:
Open the swing-out lter sideways and insert
a size-4 paper lter into the lter holder, rst
folding down the perforated sides of the lter.
– Filling with ground co ee:
For each regular-sized cup (125ml), a
measure of about 6 g (= 1½ - 2 teaspoons)
of medium or nely ground co ee will
be required. Close the swing-out lter
a erwards and close the water container lid.
– Preparing the glass carafe:
Fit the lid onto the carafe, and then place
the carafe into the appliance. If correctly
inserted, the lid will disable the drip-stop
mechanism in the lter holder during the
brewing cycle.
– Starting the brewing cycle:
Insert the plug into a suitable wall outlet and
use the On/O switch to switch the co ee
maker on. e ltration cycle starts and the
water passes through the lter.
– Removing the glass carafe:
Wait until all the water has passed through
the lter before the carafe is removed from
the appliance.
– Switching o the co ee maker:
e co ee may be kept warm inside the
carafe by leaving it standing on the hot-plate.
e plate is kept warm until the appliance is
switched o . Always switch o the appliance
a er use and remove the plug from the wall
socket.
Descaling
Depending on the water quality (lime
content) in your area as well as the
frequency of use, all thermal household
appliances using hot water need descaling
(i.e. removal of lime deposits) on a regular
basis to warrant proper functioning. Any
warranty claim will be null and void if
the appliance malfunctions because of
