Vaisala Mobile Detector MD30 is a mobile road condition sensor for winter maintenance operations.
T
he compact MD30 measures all key road weather parameters and is suitable for snow plow trucks
and other vehicles. MD30 data is targeted to enable more accurate maintenance decision-making and
salt usage optimization.
The mobile sensor measures the following parameters:
• Grip
• Surface state
• Surface layer thickness
• Surface temperature
• Air temperature
• Dew point and frost point
• Relative humidity

MD30 Measurements
• When using RoadAI services, the default settings are the following (not adjustable):
• The data transfer interval from the mobile sensor to RoadAI is 100 ms.
The RoadAI phone app shows data with a 200 ms interval.
• When implementing the MD30 interface, you can set the data transfer interval from the mobile
sensor to the data collection system to 25 ms ... 5 s.

Safety
MD30 is classified as a Class 1 laser device in accordance with International Standard IEC/EN 60825-1.
This means that it is eye-safe under reasonably foreseeable conditions of operation, including the use
of optical instruments for intrabeam viewing.
The device is equipped with the following information on the bottom of MD30:
