Compact Disc Player is equipped with safety switches to avoid exposure
when the CD door is open and the safety interlocks are defeated. Invisible
and hazardous laser radiation when open and interlock failed or defeated.

the safety switches.

POWER SUPPLY
Use with regular batteries
1. Open the battery compartment door, located on the bottom of the unit, by sliding the door
and lift it up. (Do not remove the battery door).
2. Insert 2 x 1 .5V /UM-3/AA size alkalinebatteries, following the correct polarity, as indicated
in the battery compartment.
3. Close the battery compartment door.
Note: If the symbol“ LOW BATTERY “appears in the display, batteries are weak and should
be replaced.
UsewithAC/DC adaptor(notincluded)
1. Insert the DC plug, at the end of the AC/DC adaptor cord, into the DC 4.5 V INPUT socket
located on the back of the unit.
2. Connect the AC/DC adaptor into a 120V ~ 60Hz AC power outlet.
Notes:
• If the AC adaptor is connected when regular batteries are installed, the power supply
automatically switches to the AC power source.
• Make sure that the AC/DC adaptor matches with your household voltage before connect-
ing it into the wall outlet.
• When not using AC power, disconnect the AC/DC adaptor from the wall outlet.
• Do not tou ch the AC/DC adaptor with wet hands.
CONNECTIONS
External Audio System
Connect the stereo connection cable (not included) into the LINE OUT jack of the unit and
the CD/AUX of your audio system. (Do not connect it to the amplifier phono jack.)
Note: Always switch off the power before making any connections between the CD player
and other audio system.
• If the CD player interferes with the TV or radio reception, move the CD player away from
TV set or radio receiver.
HEADPHONE CONTROL
Connect the stereo headphones (included) to the Phones jack .

CD/MP3 PLAYBACK
1. Connect the headphones (included) or optional earphones into the Phones jack.
2. Press the Door Open button to open the CD compartment door.
3. Insert a disc with the label side facing up.
4. Close the CD compartment door until a click is heard.
5. Set the VOLUME control to minimum.
6. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button, the unit power will turn on automatically and show “Now
Reading” and start playback.
INCASE OFCDDISC
The total number of tracks and total playing time appear on the display: Playback starts.
During playback, the actual track and the elapsed time appear.
INCASE OF MP3 DISC
The total number of albums and tracks, and MP3 appear on the display: Playback starts.
During playback, the actual album number, track and the elapsed time appear.
CD + MP3
7. Adjust the VOLUME control to your desired listening level.
8. Tostop playback temporarily, press the PLAY/PAUSE button once. The elapsed time and
track number will flash on the display. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button again to resume
playback.
9. To stop playback, press the STOP button once.
10. To turn the unit off, press the STOP button twice.
Notes:
• When the CD door is accidentally opened during playback, " Door Open " will appear on
the display.
• Wait until the disc is fully stopped before pressing the OPEN button.
• This unit can play 3" (8cm) single CDs without an adaptor.

Playback information
• If a CD Rewritable (CD Recordable) is not recorded properly, "Disc Error" is displayed.
For CD Audio, use FINALIZE on your CD recorder to complete the recording.
• Playback will stop if you open the CD lid.
• While the CD is reading, "ESP" flashes.
• If there is no activity for 10 seconds, the set will clear the display, and if there is no activity
after another 50 seconds, the set will switch off automatically to save energy. Any settings
like program and playing modes will then be lost.
LOCATING APARTICULAR TRACKOR POINT OFTHE TRACK
IN CD
1. Press the BACKWARD (9 ) button once to go back to the beginning of the current track.
2. Press the BACKWARD (9 ) button repeatedly to go back to previous tracks.
3. Press the FORWARD (:) button repeatedly to go to next tracks.
4. Pressand holdeither the FORWARD(: ) or BACKWARD(9 ) buttontosearchbackwards
or forwards, at high speed, a particular point of track.
Note: Low level audio will be heard during the search process to assist in locating the correct
point in the track.
IN MP3
1. Press the BACKWARD (9 ) button once to go back to the beginning of the current track.
2. Press the BACKWARD (9 ) button repeatedly to go back to previous tracks.
3. Press the FOWARD (:) button repeatedly to go to the next tracks.
4. Press the MENU/ESP button once to search in Alphabetic order. Press 3,4 to
select the letters. Press 5,6 to jump a whole line at a time.
Then press ENTER to confirm.
5. Press MENU/ESP button twice to search the album. Press 5,6 to select
the album. Press 3,4 to read the whole title.
Then press ENTER to confirm.
6. Press the PLAY/PAUSE ( ) button again to resume playback of that Album from track 1.

Searching and selecting an MP3 track/album
The following table shows the different functions available when playing Audio CD or
MP3 CDs.
• Single file is displayed when playing an MP3 CD with only a root directory which
contains no additional albums (folders).
• With albums means a MP3 CD with more than one album (folders), and is shown
by directory and a number on the display as AL 09, AL10, etc.

REPEAT PLAYBACK
IN CD
1. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button.
2. Torepeat thesame track, press the MODE button once. “REP 1”will appearonthedisplay.
The CD will start single repeat playback until STOP button is pressed.
Press the MODE button four times more to cancel track repeat. “REP 1” disappears from
displ ay.
3. Torepeat the entire disc, presstheMODE button twice. “REPA”willappear onthedisplay.
Press the MODE button three times more to cancel all disc repeat. The indicator
“REP A” disappears from the display.
IN MP3
1. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button.
2. To r epeat the same track, press the MO DE button once durin g PLAYBACK.
“REP 1” will appear on the display.
CD will start single track repeat playback until STOP button is pressed. Press the MODE
button five times to cancelsingle repeat. The “REP 1”indicator disappears from the display.
3. To repeat the entire MP3 disc, press the MODE button twice. “REP A” will appear on the
displ ay.

4. To repeat the entire Album, press the MODE button three times.
“REP D” will appear on the display.

INTRO PLAY
INCD
1. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button .
2. Press the MODE button three times to enter the Intro mode, 'INT' appears on the display.
3. The CD will play the first 10 seconds of each track on the CD.
4. Press MODE button twice more to cancel Intro playback and resume normal playback.
5. Power is turned off automatically after 60 seconds, when all tracks have been played.
IN MP3
1. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button .
2. Press the MODE button four times to enter the Intro mode,
'INT' appears on the display.
3. The CD will play the first 10 seconds of each tra ck of each album on the CD.
4. Press MODE button twice more to cancel Intro playback and resume normal playback.
5. Power is turned off automatically after 60 seconds, when all tracks have been played.
RANDOM PLAY
INCD
1. Press the MODEbutton four times to enter the Random mode. “RND”appears on the display
2. Press PLAY/PAUSE button to start playback in Random order.
3. Press SKIP Forward (:) button to go to the next Random track.
4. Press the MODE button once more to return to the Normal Playback mode.
IN MP3
1. Press the MODE button five times to enter the Random mode. “RND” appears on the
display, then press PLAY/PAUSE button to start playback of all tracks of all albums in
Random order.
2. Press SKIP Forward (:) button to go to the next Random track.
3. Press the MODE button once more to return to the Normal Playback mode.

1. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button. After five se conds, press the STOP button.
2. Press the PROG button. The track number and “P” will appear on the display indicating
the first selection.

4. Press once the PROG button to enter the track into memory.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to program up to 24 tracks (files).

7. To exit programming, press the CLEAR button for 3 seconds.
Note: During program playback, if you wish to repeat the entire programmed playback,
press the MODE button repeatedly until the “REP A” indicatorappears on the display.
IN MP3
1. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button and after 8 seconds the STOP button.
2. Press the PROG button, the following will appear on the display :

3. Press the SKIP Forward and Backward buttons to select the desired Album to be
programmed.
4. Press the PROG button once to enter the Album into memory. The Album number will

5. Press the SKIP Forward and Backward buttons to select the desired track to be
programmed.
6. Press the PROG button to select the desired track to be programmed.

7. Repeat the steps 3 to 6 to program up to 24 tracks.
8. Press PLAY/PAUSE button once to start programmed playback.
9. To exit programming, press the CLEAR button for 3 seconds.
FILE SEARCH FUNCTION FOR MP3 CD WITH “MENU” BUTTON
Very useful for file search of MP3 files.You can search directly by“FILE NAME ” or
“ALBUM NAME” and “FILE SELECT” with MENU button.
FILE NAME SEARCH
For example: rock.mp3 (file name)
1. Press the MENU button once. The display shows “ABCDEFGHIJKL” and the cursor
is blinking.
2. Press the direction (5 ) button, Display shows “MNOPQRSTUVWX” and the cursor
is blinking.
3. Select the “R” letter with the direction (3/4) buttons, the Cursor begins blinking on “R”.
4. Press the ENTER button.
Auto playback occurs after searching and finding the “rock.mp3” file.
If there are more than 2 files beginning with the same letter, it will show the first file
name blinking.
At that time, select the desired file name with Direction (3/4 ) butto n and than press the
ENTER button.
Note :
Any mp3 files, i.e. file name containing symbols (example: *,/,-,!,=,etc) are recognized
and can be used for file name search. In this case, select the “special symbol” on
display.
ALBUM / FILE SELECT
1. Press the MENU button twice.
ALBUM name appears on the upper row and FILE name on the lower row.
2. Select the desired ALBUM name with Direction (5 /6) button or FILE name with the
direction (3/4) button.
3. Press the ENTER button.
The selected track will play automatically.

SINGLE SESSION
The following chart is an example of a Windows Explorer display that will appear on your
computer monitor for a single session MP3 CD ROM with Folders/Albums. Check the
added notes to help you understand the MP3 CD unit display and the
playback sequence of folders/albums and tracks on a single session MP3 CD.
MULTISESSION
See the following page for notes regarding this diagram. Computer user does not need
to finalize the CDR disc when the music is downloaded from the internet. The music can
be downloaded at different times until the entire CD disc is fully loaded and can be
played in the unit.
( E) CD-ROM drive
ABOUTTHEDIAGRAM:
• The arrow pathway shows the sequence of MP3 directory and file playback.
• This example has a total of four MP3 directories.
• Based on this layout, the first file will be “Blur01.mp3” and the last file will be
“Twain15 .mp3”.
• “Skipped” denotes a directory which contains non-audio files only. These cannot be
detected or played on this player. When an album contains mixed format files, the non-
MP3 files will be skipped.

SPECIALFUNCTIONS
Auto Power Off SPECIAL FUNCTIONS
When the unit is stopped (standby mode) for approximately 60 seconds, the Auto Power Off
function will be activated and turn off automatically.
Anti-shockFunction
• If in use, theplayer is likely toreceive shocks orvibrations (i.e. while walking or in a moving
vehicle). As soonas the PLAY/PAUSE buttonis pressed, the ESP function is automatically
activated to allow uninterrupted playback. “ESP” will flash in the display. When “ESP”
stops flashing, the data buffer is full.
• Should theplayer receive shocks formore than 180 seconds continuously in CD playback
or 480seconds in MP3 playback, thesoundcanmute for a very short while and will resume
once the player has stabilized from the shock.
• To disable ANTI-SHOCK Function, press ESP button once.
Notes:
• When using the Anti-shock function, the disc will rotate faster than normal playback and
memory is active. Only use the ANTI-SHOCK function when necessary to preserve the
battery life.
• The Anti-shock function will not correct the errors arising from the use of defective,
scratched or dirty discs.
• IMPORTANT!DuringMP3 playback, the ANTI-SHOCK function is always ONand this
function cannot be deactivated.
RADIOOPERATION
1.Set the FUNCTION switch to tuner for RADIO mode, press POWER ON ( ) key.
2.Press the MODE button key to select FM MONO or FM STEREO (FM Band only).
3.To turn the radio off press POWER OFF ( ) key.
Stereo/Mono
When listening to a radio station broadcasting in FM stereo, press the MODE button to select
the ON mode.The STEREO indicator will show in the display if the FM stereo signal is weak.
Push the MODE button to select the OFF mode (The station will be received in mono but the
background noise will be reduced ).

Aerial
FM: The headphones cord acts as an aerial and must be fully extended for best reception.
Manual Tune
To manually tune to a station briefly, press the Tune up or down ( or ) button unit
the station is tuned in.
Automatic Tune
To Automatically tune to a station, press and hold either tune up or down ( or )
buttons. The unit will automatically tune to and stop at the first station of sufficient signal
strength.
MEMORIZING PRESETSTATIONS
You can store up to 10 radio stations for each band into the program.To memorize
preset stations:
1.Set the function switch to RADIO for RADIO mode.
2.Tune the desired station by pressing the Tuning UP/DOWN ( or ) buttons.
3.Press the PROG button. “PROG” indicator appears in the display.
4.Press the PROG button again to store the station in the required location.
5.Repeat step 3 to 6 until all desired stations are programmed.
Notes: When a new, different station is preset, the previous preset station will be erased.
RECALLINGPRESET STATIONS
1.Set the function switch to RADIO for RADIO mode.
2.Press the PLAY/PAUSE button to turn on RADIO.

MAINTENANCE
Cleaning the unit
Wipe the outside surface of the unit with a soft cloth moistened with water and mild soap.
Handling CDs
Your CD player has been especially designed for the reproduction of compact discs bearing
the CD mark. No other discs should be loaded into the player.
Always place the disc in the tray with the label facing up.
Although compact discs are impervious to wear during play, damage to the surface of a disc
through improper handling will result in playback irregularities.
To preserve your compact discs, please handle them with care.
Although minute dust particles and fingerprints should have no effect on playback, you should
keep the surface of the recorded side of your discs clean by wiping the disc with a clean, dry,
lint-free soft cloth with straight movements from the center outwards.
Never use record cleaners, record sprays, antistatic sprays, liquids or chemical based liquids
to clean the surface of a disc. They may in fact irreparably damage the disc's plastic surface.
Always return the disc to its protective plastic case when not using it. Avoid exposing discs
to direct sunlight, excessive temperatures or high humidity for extended periods of time. Do
not write on the label side of the disc with a ballpoint pen as this may scratch the disc.
