The Tapeswitch Safety Edge TS-57 is a pressure-sensitive safety device designed to protect operators working at or near dangerous machinery. The switch functions as a momentary-contact, normally-open switch which electrically closes when force is applied in the normal direction to the edge sensor. Multiple safety edge sensors may be wired, in series, to form a larger sensing area. In a sensing edge safety configuration, a small electrical signal flows through (from the safety interface controller - SIM) the upper and lower conductors of the insert switch element(s) at all times. This signal is used by the safety interface controller/safety interface module (SIM) to continuously monitor safety integrity.
