How to use the hotplates
The ceramic surface of the hob allows a fast transmission of heat in the vertical direction,
from the heating elements underneath the ceramic glass to the pans sat on it.
The heat does not spread in the horizontal direction, so that the glass stays “cool” at only a
few centimeters from the cooking plate.
The 4 cooking plates are shown by dark disks on the ceramic surface.

Residual heat indicator
The hob also features 4 warning lamps which are wired to the corresponding plate.
When the temperature of a cooking plate is over 60°C, the relevant warning lamp lights up to
warn of heat on the surface of the hob.
This lamp also stays on after the cooking plate has been switched off to shown that the hob
surface is still hot.
This residual heat lasts for a rather long time after the cooking plate has been switched off.
During this spell of time you should avoid touching the hob surface over the cooking
plate.
The lamp will switch off automatically as soon as the surface temperature of the cooking
plate falls below 60°C.
Cooking hints
– To reduce the cooking time, you can turn the control knob to the max when you switch
the plate on.
After a short time you set the control knob to the required position for the cooking.
– You should use pots and pans with flat bases.
The diameter of the pan should match that of the cooking plate (or be slightly bigger) to
make the most of the energy.
– Since the cooking surface stays hot for a certain time after the plate has been switched off,
you can switch it off minutes before the end of the cooking.
The residual heat of the hob will terminate the cooking.
– To save electricity, use lids whenever possible.
WARNING: The hotplates
become very hot with use, and
retain their heat for a long time after use. Children should be
supervised at all times and be prevented from touching the
hot surfaces, until such time as the appliance has cooled.
12
Cleaning the hob
Before you begin cleaning make sure
that the hob is switched off.
Remove spillages and other types of
incrustations by using a scraper.
Dust or food particles can be removed
with a damp cloth.
If you use a detergent, please make sure
that it is not abrasive or scouring. Abrasive
or scouring powders can damage the
glass surface of the hob.
All traces of the cleaner have to be
removed with a damp cloth.
It is highly recommended to keep off the
hob any article which can melt: plastic,
aluminium foil, sugar, sugar syrup mixtures
etc.
If any of these products has melted on the
ceramic surface, you should remove it
immediately (while the surface is still hot)
by using a scraper to avoid any
permanent damage to the surface of the
hob.
Avoid using any knife or sharp utensil
since these can damage the ceramic.
Do not use steel wool or an abrasive
sponge which could scratch the surface
in an irrepairable way.
Safety hints:
– Do not stare at the light of the halogen
hotplate.
– Before you switch the hob on, make sure
you know which knob controls the
required cooking plate. We advise you to
sit the pan over the cooking plate before
switching it on. Remove the pan after you
have switched the cooking plate off.
– Do not use pots and pans with rough
bases (pay attention to cookware made
of cast-iron). Rough bases can damage
the glass surface of the hob (scratches).
Make sure that the pan bottom is dry and
clean.
– Pots with aluminium bottoms may leave
silver streaks or spots on the hob.
– Pan handles should never stand out
beyond the kitchen worktop, as there is a
great danger of knocking the pan over.
This will also ensure that children cannot
reach them.
– Do not use the hob if the glass surface is
broken or cracked in any way. Please
disconnect the hob from the mains.
– Do not lean over the cooking plate when
in use.
– Do not lay cooking foil, aluminium foil or
plastic materials on the ceramic surface
when it is hot.
– Remember that the surface remains hot for
a long time (about 30 min.) after the
cooking plate has been switched off.
– Do not use the glass surface for storage.
– Follow the cleaning instructions carefully.

How to use the top conventional oven
Top oven “Function” selector (Fig. 15)
Select Light, Oven or Grill function by turning the control knob (fig. 15) until the indicator is
in line with the function printed in the control panel.
Light The oven light is switched on.
Oven It is advisable to preheat the oven until the set temperature has been reached
i.e: when the indicator light above the function selector goes off. During
cooking, do not open the door unless it is absolutely necessary.
Grill Always grill with the oven door closed and do not use the grill for
longer than 30 minutes at any one time.
Set the function selector knob to the grill position and the temperature
selector knob to a max. 200°C.
The temperature can be varied depending on the food being cooked (max.
200°C).
Before using the grill, pre-heat for about five minutes. Position the grill pan on
the highest shelf position and keep checking as it could easily burn.
To avoid possible smoking during grilling it is advisable to add a little water
to the grill pan.
The oven is supplied with a grill pan handle which clips onto the grill pan.
The handle must be removed before closing the oven door.
We recommend that you use oven gloves when using the grill pan handle or
when removing the grill pan or oven shelves as they become very hot when
in use.
15
Fig. 14 Fig. 15
Top oven “Temperature” selector (Fig. 14)
The light above the Temperature selector will illuminate when the oven is switched on and
turns off when the oven reaches the correct temperature.
The light will cycle on and off during cooking in line with the oven temperature.
The oven has two heating elements, one on the base of the oven and one on the top. Hot
air rises, so the top of the oven is always the hottest.
The temperature in the middle of the oven is maintained at the temperature set by the
control knob and is slightly hotter at the top and slightly cooler at the bottom of the oven.
Always pre-heat the top oven before use.
Do not open the oven door during cooking unless absolutely necessary.
16
Switch and thermostat selector (Fig. 16)
Turn the selector knob (fig. 16) to the required function.
0Off
Fan The oven light is switched on. The fan operates without the heating element,
this function can be used for defrosting.
50-225 The oven light is switched on.
The oven temperature can be set between 50°C - 225°C.
The set temperature has been reached when the temperature indicator light
goes off.
Several different meals may be cooked simultaneously on various shelves, as
the heated air circulates evenly throughout the oven. The hot air system cooks
more quickly than conventional static system, therefore the temperature
should be set 15°C 20°C below the values recommended in your recipe
books. The oven door may be opened though briefly while cooking as any
heat losses are quickly recovered when the door is closed.
Fig. 16
How to use the bottom fan oven
17
Cooking with a fan oven
Fan cooking is more economical and quicker than cooking in a conventional oven.
The fan is situated on the back wall of the bottom oven.
The heating element encircles the fan, and the fan forces the heat into the oven ensuring an
even temperature throughout. The moving hot air surrounds the food and penetrates it more
quickly than in a conventional oven.
The oven can be filled with different dishes all requiring the same cooking temperature.
Subtract 10 minutes per hour for every dish requiring a cooking time of more than 1 hour
and reduce the heat by 10-20°C; the hotter the oven, the more the temperature can be
reduced.
Generally, there is no need to pre-heat a fan oven, but it is advisable to pre-heat for about 5
minutes to ensure the best results; use the indicator light as a guide, it goes out when the
set temperature is reached.
