Grasp plug, never yank on cord.
19. Always check the pressure release devices for clogging before use.
20. Do not open the pressure cooker until unit has cooled and internal
pressure has been released. If the lid is difcult to open, this indicates
that the cooker is still pressurized - do not force it open. Any pressure
in the cooker can be hazardous. See “Using Your Pressure Cooker”
section of this manual on page 9.
21. Do not use pressure cooker for pressure frying with oil.
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always
be followed, including the following:

ADDITIONAL SAFETY INFORMATION
Do not use the pressure cooker without liquid; this could damage the
pressure cooker severely.
Do not use pressure cooker for storage purposes.
TO PREVENT A SERIOUS SCALDING INJURY NEVER ATTEMPT TO FORCE
THE PRESSURE COOKER LID OPEN. If the lid has any resistance this means
that it is still under pressure. Forcing the lid open can cause hot liquids
and/or steam to escape from the pressure cooker and cause a scalding
injury.
4
Always keep hands and face away from the vent holes on the
PRESSURE RELEASE DEVICE when reducing pressure.
Use extreme caution when removing lid after cooking. Lift straight up
and always tilt the lid away from you, so any remaining steam is blocked
from your face.
Never attempt to open lid while cooking, or before the PRESSURE
INDICATOR PIN has dropped. Do not attempt to defeat this safety
feature by forcing the lid open. If the lid does not freely open with no
resistance this means that there is still pressure in the pot, forcing the lid
open can cause serious burn injuries.
Do not cover or block the PRESSURE RELEASE VALVE or PRESSURE
INDICATOR PIN VALVE. This could cause over-pressurization of your
pressure cooker which could result in a scalding injury.
Do not touch the pot or lid except for the handle immediately after
using.
To avoid burns, allow food to cool before tasting. The temperature of
the food gets considerably hotter than with conventional cooking.
Many different cooking liquids can be used in a pressure cooker: wine,
beer, bouillon, fruit juices, water and more.
After becoming familiar with your pressure cooker, you can convert
conventional recipes for pressure cooking. In general, reduce
cooking times by two thirds. The amount of liquid used may also have
to be adjusted because there is very little evaporation from the
pressure cooker. Reduce the amount of liquid so there is only about
1/2 cup more than desired in the nished product. Remember, however,
there must always be some liquid in the pressure cooker to form the
necessary steam. Try this formula: 1 cup of liquid for the rst 15 minutes of
pressure cooking then 1/3 cup of liquid for each subsequent 15 minutes.
WARNING: Do not ll the unit over 2/3 full. When cooking foods that
expand during cooking such as rice or dried vegetables, do not ll the
unit over 1/2 full. Over lling may cause a risk of clogging the PRESSURE
RELEASE VALVE and cause over-pressurization in the cooker which could
cause contents to eject from the pressure cooker.
• Since avors are more concentrated, reduce amounts of herbs and
seasonings when converting conventional recipes. Fresh herbs are
better for pressure cooking than dried herbs.
Increase cooking times by about ten percent when cooking in high
altitudes over 3,500 feet.
• When you are using frozen meats in your recipes, the cooking time does
not need to be altered. Pressure will not be achieved until the internal
temperature in the pot is 40 degrees higher than the boiling point of
water. The cooking time will not begin until pressure is achieved; it will
just take longer to come to pressure.
• Always examine the SEALING GASKET, PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE, and
PRESSURE INDICATOR PIN before each use. Make sure the SEALING
GASKET is free of any tears, and the PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE and
PRESSURE INDICATOR PIN are clear of any foreign matter.
WARNING: Never attempt to open lid while under pressure!!! Do not
attempt to force the lid open. If the lid does not freely open with no
resistance this means that there is still pressure in the pot, forcing the lid
open can cause serious burn injuries.
• When releasing steam manually, evaporation of some liquid may occur
(i.e. when making rice or risotto). This is normal, but caution must be
used to prevent injury. Do not release steam manually if cooking liquid
ingredients such as soups, stews, and stocks. Unplug pressure cooker
and allow pressure to dissipate on its own, usually about 30 – 40 minutes.
Read this manual thoroughly and follow all recommendations.
Be familiar with the recipe and have all ingredients ready before you
begin.
Be sure the lid is secured properly before beginning by checking that
the OPEN/CLOSE INDICATOR PIN is retracted.
You may wish to brown some meats before cooking with other
ingredients. To do so, set the TIMER and press the START button and
preheat pressure cooker without lid. Add oil and brown meat.

1. Gather all ingredients and be familiar with your recipe.
Pour required amount of liquid into removable cooking
pot, and then add food. Use the cooking rack, if
desired. Never load the REMOVABLE COOKING POT
above the maximum ingredient level line marked
“2/3 MAX PC” on cooking pot. When cooking foods
that expand during cooking such as rice or dried
vegetables, do not ll the unit over 1/2 full. Over lling
may cause a risk of clogging the PRESSURE RELEASE
VALVE and developing excess pressure.
See instructions for cooking rice on page 14.
2. Make sure the SEALING GASKET is securely positioned
in the inner lid. The metal bracket inside the pressure
cooker lid should be sitting inside the groove in the
middle of the SEALING GASKET. Always examine the
SEALING GASKET before installing and before each use.
Make sure it is free of any tears or foreign matter.
3. Place lid on pressure cooker and turn clockwise
until the OPEN/CLOSE INDICATOR PIN is in the closed
position (retracted). Do not attempt to cook in your
pressure cooker unless you visually see that the OPEN/
CLOSE INDICATOR PIN is retracted.
4. Set the PRESSURE RELEASE DEVICE to the SEAL position
(see gure 1).
5. Plug power cord into unit rst and then into a
120 volt / 60 Hz AC outlet. The unit will beep and the
LED will display 8:88 for 1 second and then will change
to default cooking time of 0:03 minutes. The time
can be adjusted from 0:03 minutes up to 2:00 hours.
The time reects the cooking time AFTER pressure
has been reached and does not include preheating
time. The pressure cooker is now in standby mode.
6. Press + or – to adjust the cooking time specied for the recipe in one
minute increments. You can also press and hold the + or – button to
scroll at a faster rate. Once the desired time is displayed press the
START button. The red HEAT light will illuminate during the preheat
process. The TIMER will not start until the operating pressure has been
reached.
7. When the operating pressure has been reached the green COOK
light will illuminate and the TIMER will begin. At any time during the
HEAT and COOK cycles you can press the WARM/CANCEL button to
reset the cooking time.
8. After pressure cooking is complete the green COOK light will turn off
and the orange WARM light will illuminate indicating that the cooker
is in keep warm mode. The TIMER will display elapsed TIME in WARM
mode.
9. The pressure can be released manually or on its own. If a recipe
states "let pressure drop on its own," unplug the cooker and let sit
until the LID removes without any resistance, approximately 30 – 40
minutes depending on volume of food in the cooker. When recipe
states "reduce pressure at once" or “reduce pressure manually”,
unplug the cooker and turn the PRESSURE RELEASE DEVICE to the VENT
position to release steam and pressure. (See Figure 2). Use caution
when manually releasing pressure as hot steam will be released,
we recommend using tongs or a kitchen towel to turn the pressure
release valve.
WARNING: Never manually vent the pressure cooker when cooking
liquid ingredients such as such as soups, stews, and stocks. Press the
WARM/CANCEL button and unplug the cooker from the outlet. Wait
30 – 40 minutes before attempting to open the lid. If the lid has any
resistance when attempting to open wait additional time until it freely
opens with no resistance. If your LID is still difcult to open or has any
resistance, contact our customer service department at (866) 479-3390.
10. Pressure is completely reduced when the following 3 conditions exist:
the PRESSURE RELEASE DEVICE is in the VENT position, (see Figure 2)
and you no longer hear steam escaping from the PRESSURE RELEASE
VALVE and the PRESSURE INDICATOR PIN has dropped and the LID
opens freely with no force. Only then is it safe to remove pressure
cooker lid and serve food. Remove the lid by grasping the LID HANDLE
and twisting counter-clockwise to the UNLOCK position. Lift straight
up and always tilt the lid away from you, so any remaining steam
is blocked from your face. As a safety feature, the lid will not open
unless all pressure is reduced. DO NOT force the lid open if it does not
open freely, this means that the unit is still under pressure.

making rice in your
pressure cooker
A note about the measuring cup provided with your Pressure Cooker
Your Pressure Cooker is able to cook a maximum of 6 cups of raw rice,
which is the equivalent of 12 cups of cooked rice. A rice cooker cup is
equivalent to 6 ounces, or approx 3/4 of a cup. This is why it is important
to use the RICE MEASURING CUP that comes with your rice cooker and
not a standard 8-ounce cup measure to ensure perfect results every
time.
When pressure cooking rice, the combined volume or rice and water
must not exceed the 6-cup marking as indicated on the inside of the
REMOVABLE COOKING POT. Once you become familiar with cooking
rice in your pressure cooker you can experiment with different volumes of
water to suit your personal taste as long as the combined volume does
not exceed the 6 cup marking.
1. When making 6 cups rice, use 6 RICE MEASURE CUPS of rice, place rice
into the REMOVABLE COOKING POT. Fill pot with water to the 6 mark
and indicated on the side on the pot.
2. As a general rule, when cooking 2 cups (or less) of uncooked rice, use
1 tablespoon of butter or oil. For measurements greater than 2 cups,
use 2 tablespoons of butter or oil. This will prevent foaming during the
cooking process.
3. For white rice set TIMER for 5-10 minutes, for brown rice 15-20 minutes.
You can adjust the time up or down to suit your personal taste.
4. When time has elapsed the pressure cooker will automatically switch
to Keep Warm. You can release the pressure manually or let the
pressure drop on its own (30-40 minutes). Use caution if releasing the
pressure manually as hot steam or liquid will be ejected from the
Pressure Release Valve.

9. After pressure cooking is complete the green COOK light will turn off
and the orange WARM light will illuminate indicating that the cooker
is in keep warm mode. The TIMER will display elapsed TIME is WARM

10. The pressure can be released manually or on its own. If a recipe states
"let pressure drop on its own," unplug the cooker and let sit until the
lid removes without any resistance, approximately 30 – 40 minutes
depending on volume of food in the cooker. When recipe states
"reduce pressure at once" or “reduce pressure manually”, unplug the
cooker and turn the PRESSURE RELEASE DEVICE to the VENT position to
release steam and pressure. (See Figure 2). Use caution when manually
releasing pressure as hot steam will be released, we recommend using
tongs or a kitchen towel to turn the pressure release valve. WARNING!
Never manually vent the pressure cooker when cooking liquid
ingredients such as such as soups, stews, and stocks. Press the WARM/
CANCEL button and unplug the cooker from the outlet. Wait 30 – 40
minutes before attempting to open the lid. If the lid has any resistance
when attempting to open wait additional time until it freely opens with
no resistance.
11. Pressure is completely reduced when the following 3 conditions exist:
the PRESSURE RELEASE DEVICE is in the VENT position, (see Figure 2)

opens freely with no force. Only then is it safe to remove pressure
cooker lid and serve food. Remove the lid by grasping the LID HANDLE
and twisting counter-clockwise to the UNLOCK position. Lift straight
up and always tilt the lid away from you, so any remaining steam is
blocked from your face. As a safety feature, the lid will not open unless
all pressure is reduced. DO NOT force the lid open if it does not open
freely, this means that the unit is still under pressure.
13 14
Washing White Rice:
When rice is milled some bran and residues adhere to the surface of the
rice. You can remove these residues by rst washing the rice with water
before cooking. This will remove excess starch & residues, which will
provide you with much whiter, ufer rice. Remember to always use the
RICE MEASURING CUP provided to accurately measure the rice. Add the
desired amount of rice to the REMOVABLE COOKING POT. Fill with cold
water until all of the rice is submerged. Wash the rice by simply stirring the
rice around in the water and rubbing between your hands. You will notice
that the color of the water will become cloudy as the rice is cleaned.
Without spilling the rice tip the REMOVABLE COOKING POT to remove the
cloudy water and repeat several times until the water remains clear.
Cooking Other Types of Rice:
Your Pressure Cooker can handle a wide variety or rice such as long grain
rice, wild rice, yellow rice, brown rice, basmati rice, etc. When cooking
rice other than short grain white rice it will be necessary to increase the
amount of water by up to 4 oz and then adjust to suit your own personal
taste.
