Overlap

1. After shingling up to the chimney and installing the base

flashing, cut and bend a piece of Step Flashing to make a

corner piece. Secure with 2 roofing nails.

2. Install the next course of shingles, covering the corner

piece installed in Step 1.

3. Position the next Step Flashing piece snug against the

chimney and overlapping the previous piece by 2-3 inches.

Secure with 1 roofing nail, then complete the course of

shingles. *Check local building code.

4. Continue interweaving the Step Flashing and shingles.

Protect the top edge of the step flashing with caulking or

metal counter flashing.
