INTRODUCTION
Thank you for choosing a product from Kellfri AB. Complying with the safety information,
instruction manual and using common sense will guarantee many years of enjoyment with
the product. Kellfri’s equipment and products are aimed at self-employed farmers, horse en-
thusiasts and other country-dwellers who have stringent demands on performance.
PRODUCT INFORMATION
• 9 hp petrol engine
• Wheel drive via rollers on the well-treaded tyres (21-SV20BD/GL42 and 21-SV20RSBD/GL42)

Kellfri's SV20 forestry trailer is equipped with a 4.2 metre crane which is operated using its
own hydraulic valve block with levers. The lifting arm is curved for optimal geometry and
strength and the crane can lift 100 kg at 4.2 metre's reach. Hydraulic stabilisers make the
trailer steady and stable when loading and unloading. Flat underside and plenty of ground
clearance
together with a terrain-friendly bogie make it safe and smooth to drive even in hard terrain.
Kellfri’s SV20 forestry trailer gives you a powerfully dimensioned rig with the best
manoeuvrability and maximum mobility. The SV20 can be equipped with a hydraulic winch.

uct. For the safety of both yourself and others, it may be a good idea to read through the
safety instructions every now and then. If the safety instructions or the operating manual are

Do not use the equipment or product if you are taking prescribed medication or drugs, or suf-
fering from severe depression or mental illness. Always comply with general rules of the road
and applicable rules stipulated by animal welfare legislation. People under the age of 15 are
not allowed to use the equipment.

cause life-threatening injuries or death to users and others.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR EMERGENCY SITUATIONS
In case of emergency, call 112
Always have a mobile phone or emergency phone available when working alone. A rst-aid kit
and re extinguisher must be kept in an easily accessible location when carrying out any work,
maintenance or service.
PERSONAL PROTECTION
Always use suitable protection equipment. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery while work-
ing with the equipment. Long hair should be tied up when working with equipment that has
moving parts. Use protective gloves to avoid the risk of burns if hot surfaces such as exhaust
pipes are touched, and to avoid oil and petrol getting in contact with the skin. Ear defenders
must be worn whilst the engine is running.

SURROUNDINGS
Check that the work area is free from bystanders and objects before hitching or using the equipment.
Otherwise, there is a risk of serious injury. Be extra careful if there are children in the vicinity of the area
where the equipment or product is used or stored. Check that there are no low-hanging electrical
cables within the work area. Exercise caution when working on slopes and close to ditches.
Always work alone with equipment or products that are made for working alone. Never leave rubbish
in the work area, and keep work surfaces clean. Always respect the equipment’s risk zone.
BEFORE USE
Carefully read the safety instructions and the operating manual. Make sure that you understand
the safety instructions, the operating manual and warning decals. Use common sense and suita-
ble personal protective equipment when using the product. Always check the performance of the
machine combination to be used. It is important that these are compatible and work satisfactorily
together. This is to ensure that the equipment or product works as expected, and to guarantee the
safety of yourself and others. Carry out a visual inspection of the equipment or product before use.
Repair or replace damaged or worn parts immediately to reduce the risk of injury. Grease moving
parts and check that all nuts and bolts are tightened. Repair if necessary. Learn and remember the
correct working method. Beginners must work slowly until they have learned how the machine or
product works.
Users/customers are responsible for ensuring users can handle the situation. If a user feels that the
machine is dangerous to use, they should not use it until they have received thorough training.

ENVIRONMENT
• Disposal of oil and other waste
• Improper disposal of oil or other waste may be hazardous to the en-
vironment.
• When oil is emptied from the machine, it must be poured into a leak-
proof container suitable for oil. It is not permissible to store oil in a
container used for food or drink, in order to avoid the oil being con-
sumed by mistake and causing serious injury.
• It is prohibited to spill oil on the ground, or pour it into a drain or
anywhere leading to a water source.
• Discarded oil, fuel, coolant, brake uid, lters and batteries must not
be thrown away or emptied in just any manner. Contact your local
authority for further information.

USE

CONNECTING EQUIPMENT
• It is recommended that the control is positioned close to the tractor/ATV.
Warning! Hydraulic hoses must not be brought inside the cab.
• Connect the grapple loader valve block pressure and return hoses. Make sure the pressure
and return hoses are connected correctly. The valve block may be damaged if the hoses
are connected incorrectly.
• When operating the crane, the valve block package must be placed on the towing vehicle
(tractor/ATV).

It is a good idea to equip the ATV with a protection arch and forestry equipment for your safety.
Contact your ATV dealer for information.
MAINTENANCE AND SERVICE
• Make sure that the equipment is stable and cannot tip over when carrying out
maintenance and service work.
• Replace damaged or worn parts immediately to reduce the risk of injuries.
• Carry out maintenance, service and checks in line with recommendations.
• Only use spare parts with equal performance to reduce the risk of injuries and breakdowns.
• All electrical repairs and electrical connections must be carried out by a qualied person.
Check that all nuts and bolts are tightened after maintenance and service work.
Always test the machine before starting work.
IMPORTANT! Check the oil level (gearbox/engine oil) and lubricate grease points regularly!
IMPORTANT! Avoid over-lubricating. Dirt collects easily on exposed grease and causes in-
creased wear. After lubrication, wipe excess grease o from couplings.
Never perform welding on the drawbar eye as this may aect its durability.
We recommend only using the trailer from -20 up to +30 degrees.
The hydraulic system must only be operated using hydraulic oil intended for the pur-
pose. Use gearbox oil SAE 80 (2.5 L) or similar in the slewing housing. All grease points
must be lubricated every 25 hours. Retighten all nuts and bolts after a few hours of operation
and at the end of a day's work.
RETIGHTEN ALL BOLTS, NUTS AND COUPLINGS AFTER 10 HOURS OF OPERATION.
Tighten leaking connections if there are any leaks. Do not tighten the connections more
than necessary. They may break if they are overtightened.

Switch the hose with one used for another function to de-
termine if the fault is in the valve section or cylinder (do not
forget to reconnect the hoses after checking). If the function
works after the hoses have been switched, then the fault is in
the valve section. If the fault persists, check the cylinders.
Under no circumstances may safety components be tampered with or modied. Only use
spare parts of equal performance to reduce the risk of injuries and breakdowns. Welding work
and other operations on the crane and its components must only be carried out in accordance
with the manufacturer’s instructions.
SERVICE INTERVAL MEASURE
Tyres Before each use
Check the air pressure in the tyres. See info on the sidewalls
of the tyres for exact values. Do not exceed the maximum
pressure!
Cables and hoses Before each use Check that all cables and hoses are intact.

CONNECTING THE VALVE BLOCK
• It is recommended that the control is positioned close to the tractor. Hydraulic hoses must not
be attached inside the cab.
• Connect the grapple loader valve block pressure and return hoses. Make sure the pressure
and return hoses are connected correctly. The valve block may be damaged if the hoses
are connected incorrectly. Mark the hoses with decals to make it easier to identify which is
Pressure and which is Return.
• Connect the hoses to the frame steering, the tractor must be tted with dual action
hydraulic outlets.
AFTER USE
• Ensure that the equipment/product is standing on level ground when it is disconnected. Use
stabilisers, if included with the product/tool.
• Wash, rinse with water and dry if necessary.
• Re-lubricate if necessary.
TRANSPORTATION AND SETUP
• Check that the work area is free from bystanders, children and objects before driving o.
• Always observe additional caution during transport and moving.
• Ensure that the equipment or product is well anchored and that available transport lashings
are tted.
• Always position the load as low as possible. All protruding loads should be well anchored.
• Respect the risk zones even during transport and moving.
• Do not permit anyone to walk under suspended loads when carrying out lifts.
• Trailers used for transport should have brakes in working order.
• An SMV sign must be attached when travelling on public roads.
• Check tyre pressure - see information on the sidewalls of the tyres. Do not exceed the maximum
pressure!
• Always store the equipment or product in a dry place, preferably under a roof, when not in use.
• Ensure that the equipment or product is stable and cannot tip over.
• Never permit children to play at the storage site.
• Be aware of the tipping risk!
MACHINERY/EQUIPMENT CONNECTED TO HYDRAULICS
Be careful when you connect your machine or equipment to a hydraulic hose.
• Warning of high pressure, risk of penetration injury.
• Before repairs or maintenance are carried out, the system must be relieved of any remaining
pressure.
• Switch o the tractor and move the hydraulic levers back and forth to release any pressure that
may still be in the oil hoses and pipes before starting any work on them or the hydraulic cylinders.
• Clean the lter in the suction pipe after 10 hours’ work.
• Immediately replace hydraulic hoses if cracks or wear are detected.
• Do not adjust the valve settings. Incorrect adjustment can result in damage to the machine
and/or injury.
• The hydraulic system must only be operated using hydraulic oil intended for the purpose.
Check the oil level before you start the machine!
• When commissioning a new machine, it is recommended that the hydraulic oil is changed
after the rst 10 hours of operation, in order to remove any dirt or metal chips which may have
got into the hydraulic system.
NOTE! The oil becomes hot when it ows through the hydraulic system. Check the oil temperature at regular intervals
in order to avoid overheating. Stop the machine if the oil becomes overheated and allow the oil to cool down.

CHEMICALS
To maximise the service life of a product/equipment, maintenance - and not least preventive
maintenance - is important, and this is largely what greases and oils do. Carefully read the
operating manuals for your new products or equipment to ensure correct maintenance and
service life and that the warranty remains valid!
Lubricating grease
First aid measures.
Inhalation - In the event of unintended inhalation of fumes, move the injured person into
fresh air.
Skin contact - Wash with soap and water. Contact a doctor in the event of eczema or skin
complaints.
Eye contact - Remove contact lenses, if any, before rinsing. Rinse thoroughly with large
amounts of water, including under the eyelids. Contact a doctor if discomfort remains.
Ingestion - DO NOT induce vomiting. Drink water in small quantities. In the event of ingestion
or discomfort, contact the poison information service or a doctor.
Hand protection - Wear protective gloves.
Eye protection - Avoid contact with eyes. Wear approved protective goggles.
Body protection - Suitable protective clothing.
Respiratory protection - No protection is necessary during normal handling.
Grease should be stored well sealed in a cool place in a well-ventilated area. Storage tem-
perature must not exceed 45°C. Keep away from heat, ames and sparks. The function and
strength of materials such as steel, plastic, oils, grease, etc. deteriorates considerably at very
low temperatures (-20 to -30°C).
Keep chemicals out of the reach of children and animals.
Degreasing
To ensure the best lubricating eect, you need to clean parts of the product or equipment
from time to time. We recommend degreasing to achieve thorough cleaning and to remove
all residues of old lubricant, which may contain destructive particles.
DANGER!
Pressurised oil and fuel leaks can penetrate skin and cause serious injuries.
Do not use your hands to locate leaks. Use a piece of paper or cardboard to search for leaks.

FORESTRY TRAILERS/GRAPPLE LOADERS
• There are dierent types of forestry trailers that can be connected to the tractor’s towing
device and smaller trailers that can be connected to a vehicle with a ball coupling. No matter
which trailer you have, it is important to think about safety.
• Follow the safety information in the forestry trailer’s or crane’s instruction manual. It is the
user’s responsibility to read through the instructions and comply with them. For attachments
connected to tractors, read the tractor's operating manual.
• Always check the performance of the used machine combination (trailer and crane) to help
ensure safety and functionality. Grease moving parts, and check that all nuts and bolts are
tightened.
• Check tyre pressure - see info on the sidewalls of the tyres. Do not exceed the maximum
pressure!
• Never overload the trailer!
• The trailer must not be loaded above the height of the headboard!
• Never leave the driver’s seat until the brakes on the towing vehicle have been engaged.
• The risk area is 25 metres. Only the operator is allowed to be within the risk area while the
trailer is in use.
• Do not leave a loaded trailer parked unsupervised.
• When unhitching the trailer, it must be empty and on a level surface with the trailer wheels
secured using suitable brake blocks.
• In an emergency, stop the tractor to stop the movements of the forestry trailer.
• There is a risk of suspended loads being dropped if the oil supply to the crane is disrupted.
First lower the lifting arm, then the articulated boom and then unload the grapple.
• The tractor should be tted with an ABE2 or ABE3 re extinguisher. Please contact your
insurance company for details.
• The timber trailer’s towing device must always be checked. Regularly check the coupling for
wear and tear. Do not overload the maximum pressure and tensile load of the ball coupling.
• The forestry trailer's noise level does not exceed 70 dB (A).
• Exercise caution when working with equipment with hydraulic hoses as the oil under pressure
can penetrate skin. Immediately seek medical attention if this should occur.
• The trailer is not equipped with lights and is only intended to be used during the day. If necessary,
the trailer can be tted with a magnetic rear light. If the load is wider than the tractor (200 mm
laterally) when it is dark outside, it must be tted with approved white reectors at the front.
• An SMV sign must be attached when travelling on public roads.
• EU regulations stipulate how fast a trailer/rig with a non-brake trailer is allowed to go. Comply
with these regulations. The maximum speed is 30 km/h.
• Kellfri is not liable for any modications, changes or rebuilds carried out by customers. The
controls are placed in optimal position with tractor/ATV. Warning! Hydraulic hoses must not
be attached inside the cab. When operating the crane, the valve block must be placed in a
protected place. Operated from the tractor’s driver’s cab or ATV’s operator’s station.
• Connect the grapple loader valve block pressure and return hoses correctly. Make sure the
pressure and return hoses are connected correctly. The valve block may be damaged if the
hoses are connected incorrectly.
• Ensure that the crane is tted correctly and securely.
• The crane must not be used when the trailer is in motion.
• The stabiliser must be used when the crane is in use. Make sure the trailer and stabiliser are
stable on solid level ground.
• When moving the trailer, remember to lift up the stabilisers.
• The permitted lifting capacity must not be exceeded. The gripper, rotator and any attachment
that is connected to the tractor are always considered part of the load.
• Never allow inexperienced personnel to operate the crane.

USE AND CARE INSTRUCTIONS FORESTRY TRAILER WITH CRANE
• Check that the crane is undamaged before connecting it to the vehicle.
• Connect the equipment and lock it in place. Always check the locking pins before use.
• There is usually air in the system at the start. Carefully extend all cylinders fully a few of times
to purge any air from the system.
• Calmly and methodically practise the movement pattern used for loading and unloading
timber on the trailer.
• Keep the crane low down when in transit.
• There is less stability when starting to load. Exercise caution!
• Both stabilisers must be lowered when loading and unloading. Timber must bit be pulled
with the crane when driving the tractor. The tractor must be stationary when using the crane.
• The articulated boom must not be fully closed and then press the lifting arm pressed
downward. The crane is designed to lift timber and not pressing down on it. Maximum driving
speed is 30 km/h.
• Loads must be spread evenly across the trailer. All protruding loads should be well anchored.
• IMPORTANT! It is important that the trailer is on level and rm ground during loading to avoid
the trailer tipping over.
• Ensure that there is sucient clearance between the tractor, trailer, or highest point when you
are passing a low suspended power cable.
• Always check the oil level in the crane’s swivel housing. Low oil level can cause the arm to
swing uncontrolled.
• Warning! Never lift a load if the grapple loader arm is positioned at the end position (if fully
extended). Move the grapple loader closer to the trailer before lifting the load. Read the
crane's operating manual for more information about the lifting capacity.
• Keep the grapple loader low during transport. It must be positioned correctly to avoid the
trailer tipping over.
• Grease all lubrication points regularly.

For scrapping, the equipment/product must be dismantled and transported to
a recycling station designated by your local authority. Any liquids should be col-

FORESTRY TRAILERS/GRAPPLE LOADERS
Instructions from local health & safety authorities must be followed, as well as national laws
and regulations. The manufacturer/retailer is not liable for damage caused by the incorrect use
of the forestry crane and forestry trailer.
It is forbidden for persons without a tractor operator’s licence to use the machine.
Before using the forestry crane, you should make sure that:
• the crane is in good condition
• all necessary maintenance and checks have been carried out
• you have full visibility of the whole work area
• the crane is stable on a level surface
• the tractor’s parking brake is activated
Operation.
• It is forbidden to work with a damaged or defective machine.
• Use the tractor’s parking brake when working with the forestry trailer.
• Never lift loads heavier than those approved by the manufacturer. Lifting heavier loads is
a safety risk and the warranty does not apply.
• The speed of each hydraulic function is determined by the tractor’s hydraulic ow. The
hydraulic system is built for a hydraulic pressure of 170 to 180 bar.
• All warning decals must be clean and legible. Lost or damaged decals must be replaced.
New ones can be ordered from Kellfri.
• If hydraulic hoses are routed into the cab, they must be covered so that the user is pro-
tected against oil jets in the event of a hose rupture.
• We recommend that you connect the pressure hose to the single-acting hydraulic outlet
and the return hose to the oil tank via the return lter.
• If there is a blockage in the return hose, e.g. quick coupling not locked, the pressure could
rise above 12 bar and cause the control valve to break.
• Always switch o the pump before disconnecting the quick couplings from the tractor.
Articulated steering
The articulated steering is operated via one of the tractor’s double-acting hydraulic outlets.
During road transportation, the articulated steering must be blocked with the mechanical
locking pin.
Protective cab
The machine should only be operated with a tractor equipped with an approved safety cab.
Keep doors and windows closed while working.
When the tractor operator leaves the cab, all moving parts, including the engine, must have
stopped and the handbrake must be applied. When working with grapple loaders, the cab’s
rear window and rear side windows must consist of safety glass or be equipped with protec-
tive grilles. Keep the sunroof open when driving on icy water.
Vibrations.
If vibrations occur in the machine, it must be switched o immediately to investigate the
cause. Replace any damaged parts.
Warranty.
The machine must not be used until you have read and understood the operating instructions
carefully.

Using the machine.
Warning! The machine may only be connected to the tractor if there is sucient weight on the front
and rear axles, so that the steering and brakes work when the machine is connected. If necessary,
use ballast weights, see the tractor’s instruction manual.
NOTE If the hydraulic hoses are not connected to the tractor in the prescribed order (return hose is
connected IN rst and OUT last), there is a risk of damage to the seals on the valve block.
Connect the hydraulic hoses to the single/double-acting outlet on the tractor (clean the connections
thoroughly before connecting.) Always connect the return hose rst and then the pressure hose to
the driving hydraulic system (which must be depressurised when connected). When disconnecting,
use the reverse order i.e. disconnect the pressure hose rst, then disconnect the return hose.
Connecting equipment
Read through the operating manual in its entirety.
It is recommended that the control is positioned close to the tractor. Hydraulic hoses must not be
attached inside the cab.
Connect the grapple loader valve block pressure and return hoses. Make sure the pressure and
return hoses are connected correctly. The valve block may be damaged if the hoses are connected
incorrectly.
Connect the hoses to the frame steering, the tractor must be tted with dual action hydraulic outlets.
Check the drawbar eye on the trailer. Then hitch the timber trailer onto the tractor. Operate and
carefully check movements of the equipment. Hoses must not be stretched or rub against sharp
edges, etc. Correct if necessary. Tighten leaking connections if there are any leaks. Do not overtighten
the connections. If they are overloaded, they can break. Check the air pressure in the tyres. Max. air
pressure 2.5 bar.
Use/maintenance instructions.
• Check that the equipment is undamaged before connecting it to the vehicle.
• Connect the equipment and lock it in place.
• Operation is performed from the tractor’s driver's seat.
• There is usually air in the system at the start. Carefully extend all cylinders fully a few of times to
purge any air from the system.
• Calmly and methodically practise the movement pattern used for loading and unloading tim-
ber on the trailer.
• Keep the crane low down when in transit.
• There is less stability at the beginning of the loading process.
• Both stabilisers must be lowered when loading and unloading timber. Timber must bit be pulled
with the crane when driving the tractor. The tractor must be stationary when using the crane.
• The articulated boom must not be fully closed and then press the lifting arm pressed down-

-You have attached and unloaded the grapple loader.

Adjustments.
• The vehicle's owner is responsible for ensuring that the vehicle's condition complies with
the regulations.
• The tractor’s handling, steering and braking characteristics dier depending on whether
or not the trailer is loaded. The driver must adapt to changing driving characteristics.
• When driving on and o-road, a loaded trailer is signicantly more dicult to drive than
a trailer without load. Because of the greater mass, the braking distance is signicantly
longer than with an unloaded trailer. Adjust the speed.
• If the driver cannot see the area behind the vehicle, he/she must ask for instructions from
another person to reverse the vehicle. Instructing persons must remain within the driver’s
eld of vision and not between the tractor and the machine.
• We recommend only using the trailer from -20 up to +30 degrees. Bear in mind that work-
ing in both low and high temperatures increases wear and tear and stress on seals and
hoses. The steel’s durability is also impaired and cracks can occur. When working at high
temperatures, remember to allow the oil to circulate freely in the system for a few min-
utes. Then run each function a few times so that seals and hoses are softened before full
pressure is applied. During extremely hot periods, be careful with the temperature of the
oil. Temperatures above 80 degrees destroy the properties of the oil and damage seals
and hoses.
Drawbar eye.
The wear limit of the drawbar eye is 20%. The timber trailer is equipped with a drawbar eye
type SS 3281. Regularly check the eye for wear and tear. If the wear exceeds 5 mm, replace the
eye. The maximum tensile load on the drawbar eye is 9 tonnes and the maximum pressure is
3 tonnes. If the drawbar eye is damaged, it must be replaced immediately. The drawbar eye
must be checked for defects each time the trailer is put into use. It is the user’s responsibility
to carry out checks.
Lubrication instructions.
Pump grease into the bearing until it comes out the side of the bearing, wipe o the excess.
Turn the joint (if possible) 180 degrees, repeat step 1. This ensures a good distribution of the
lubricant.
When lubricating the bogie bearing, it must be supported from the ground so that grease
ends up on both sides of the pin.
Service.
Regularly check the condition of the rig. If cracks, twists, bends, gaps or fatigue are discovered,
stop using the equipment and rectify the fault. Worn parts must be replaced. The hydraulic
system must only be operated using hydraulic oil intended for the purpose. Use gearbox
oil SAE 80 (2.5 L) or similar in the slewing housing. All grease points must be lubricated
every 25 hours. Retighten all nuts and bolts after a few hours of operation and at the end of a
day's work. Disconnect the equipment from the tractor while faults are being repaired. Wash
down the equipment with water after use.
Before the start of the season.
All of the above items should be checked. A properly serviced machine will have a signicantly
longer service life and trouble-free operation.
At the end of the season.
The machine must be thoroughly cleaned, then lubricated and serviced. Replace worn or
damaged parts. When the machine is dry, we recommend that you apply a thin layer of oil to
the areas where the paint has worn o. Also grease the external piston rods. Store the machine
in a dry place. This extends the service life of the product.

Wheels and tyres.
• To ensure optimal operational safety, the wheels and tires of the machine must be checked
regularly.
• Check that all the tyres have the correct air pressure.
• Wheel rims must be checked regularly for signs of damage. If the condition of the tyre or
wheel no longer allows full operational safety, it must be replaced.
• After rst use, check all wheel nuts and retighten if necessary.
• Use of non-factory-tted tyres or those oered by the factory voids the machine warranty.
Bring the arm closer to the trailer before lifting the load.
Do not lift the load with the arm fully extended.
Points to remember: Never lift a load if the grapple loader arm is positioned at the end
position (if fully extended). Move the grapple loader closer to the trailer before lifting the load.
Remember that the grapple loader’s lifting capacity is lower when the grapple is positioned
furthest out.

Most accidents occur due to toppling over or if the tractor turns over. The worse the terrain is
or the greater the load, the greater the risk of an accident.
• Important advice to reduce the risk of accidents: Keep a safe distance when driving
under power lines. No part of the crane may be closer than: With high-voltage power
lines 6 metres, and low-voltage power lines 2 metres.
• Drive straight up or down steep hilly terrain.
Do not drive up slopes that are too steep to drive up. As the tractor and trailer's centre of
gravity is displaced backwards on a slope, there is a risk that the tractor may tip up. Use ad-
ditional load weights if necessary. The same gear must be used driving down a slope as used
when driving up it. Do not put the tractor into neutral when driving down a slope.
• Minimise the amount of driving across slopes.
The more the rig tilts, the more the weight is displaced to the point where the rig tips over.
REMEMBER!
It is harder to control a large load than a small one, so do not load the trailer with too much timber!

LOADING WORK
Basic operation
If you are not accustomed to using a grapple loader, you should rst practice basic crane
operation movements.
Exercises that shorten the learning time are set out below. The timber trailer's stabilisers must
be used during all loading and unloading work. The ground under the stabilisers must be
level and stable as there is a risk of overturning when working on slopes. Therefore, it is very
important that the trailer is loaded and unloaded on a level surface.
PRACTICE STEPS
1.One lever at a time: Begin with one function at a time. Operate the crane using a low and
even engine speed. Check which crane movements are suitable for the tractor. The operator
must feel completely comfortable with the grapple loader's movement pattern. Practice
starting and stopping each movement smoothly to ensure the grapple does not sway when
in operation. Do not run grapple loader functions to their end positions at full speed.

2. PARALLEL DISPLACEMENT
Once you have mastered the rst exercise, the next one is to place the grapple about 0.5
metres above the ground as far from the trailer as possible with the grapple loader turned at
a right angle to the trailer. Move the grapple back and forth toward the trailer parallel to the
ground. The movements should stop and start smoothly here too.
3. LOADING AND UNLOADING
Set up a reasonably high pile of logs. Grip the pile and place the gripping point so that the
lowest point of the timber tilts toward the headboard. Lift the timber in towards the trailer
before using any rotating or lifting movements. You are in full control once grapple move-
ments are smooth and there is no swaying.
By following these instructions you do not have to retighten the hose connections in the
rotator so often. You can practise a movement pattern that, for instance, enhances safety by
working calmly and methodically. The crane operating techniques take a few weeks/months
to learn before you can work at full capacity.
The risk of accidents is greater than normal during the learning phase. Pulling the wrong
lever to let the timber slide o the grapple when you least expect it can be happen easily
during this process. Therefore, you should leave a generous amount of room around you to
manoeuvre when practising.
WARNING!Never leave the cab until:
- The grapple loader is attached and unloaded and the tractor brakes
are engaged.
