0 First lift the foam filter then the fine paper filter
out of the filter basket and attach both filters by
pressing the tension ring.
Secure the tension ring by pivoting the two
brackets.
Insert a paper filter if required
In general a paper filter should be inserted when
dry vacuuming.
0 Hold the paper filter by the cardboard edge and
firmly press it onto the suction hole. The paper
filter must touch closely against the side of the
dust container wall so that it is not damaged by
the filter basket when gently replacing the
motor head.
Attach the motor head:

cable cradle located on the carry handle.
The vacuuming pipe can be hung on the
mountings on the motor head together with the
nozzle and hose.
Empty the dust container if required; however, if no paper filter is
being used, empty it as soon as the dust container is half full at the
latest. If you are vacuuming with a paper filter, the change should be
made when the nozzle noticeably begins to pick up less dirt.
To empty the container, release the two vice action latches and lift off
the motor head.
Empty the dust container into a rubbish bin.
Normal dust from housecleaning can easily be disposed of together
with the household waste.
42
Wet vacuum cleaning
Preparation
0 Prior to wet vacuuming always ensure that the
paper filter, the fine paper filter and the foam
filter have been removed.
The motor protection filter must always be
inserted into the suction hole.
The thin hose attached to the motor head is
required only for spray vacuum cleaning.
When wet vacuum cleaning, press the end of the
hose into the retainer located on the motor
head.
0 Check that the flotation valve under the motor
protection filter is working. The flotation ball
must always be clean and be able to move freely
in the filter basket. Check that the ball can move
around by shaking the motor head.
Prior to wet vacuuming, empty any dust from
the dust container.
Attach the motor head
0 Attach the motor head on the dust container
such that the switch is located vertically above
the suction hole.
Then press the two vice action latches.
43
Connecting the vacuuming hose and vacuuming pipes
0 Insert the hose inserts into the suction hole as in
the picture and turn it to the right until it locks
into place.
To remove the vacuuming hose, twist the hose
inserts to the left and remove. At the other end
of the vacuuming hose, first connect the

thin hose located on the nozzle into the
clamping pieces located on both vacuuming
pipes in order to anchor it; it is not used when
wet vacuuming.
Hard flooring adapter (HFA)
0 Attach the hard flooring adapter when
vacuuming smooth floors. Do this by putting the
arrow marked on the HFA and the spray nozzle
for carpet on top of each other (1) and pushing
the HFA in the direction of the second arrow
marked on the HFA (2).
44
Without a nozzle
Liquids can be directly vacuumed out of
containers using the vacuuming hose, the
vacuuming pipe or the groove nozzle.
Remove these parts from the liquid prior to
switching off the appliance to ensure that the
vacuuming pipe is vacuumed clean.
0 Exercise caution when vacuuming from containers e.g. bowls whose
liquid level is higher and whose contents is larger than the capacity of
the dust container; in such an event, if the dust container is full and
the flotation valve has therefore closed, liquid will continue to flow up
in accordance with the siphoning principle. For this reason, in such
cases only vacuum up a portion of the total amount and empty the
dust container at intervals.
When the dust container’s maximum capacity has been attained, this
can be heard by the higher-pitched sound made by the motor, and no
more liquid will be extracted. Then immediately switch off the
appliance and empty the dust container.
If the appliance tips over while wet vacuuming, first right the appliance
while the motor is still running and then switch off the motor. After a
short while, when the flotation ball has dropped back to its normal
position, the motor can be switched on again.
Caution: Petrol, thinner, heating oil and other flammable liquids can
form explosive vapours or mixes due to turbulence with the vacuum air.
Acetone, acids and solvents can corrode the materials used to construct
the appliance.
Water used for cleaning and dirty water containing commercially
available household detergents can be vacuumed up without any cause
for concern.
45

– closed = full suction power
– open = decreased suction power
After wet vacuuming
0 Turn the rotary switch to ”0” and disconnect the power plug.
Empty the dust container and clean it and the components used with
warm soapy water and let them dry; in particular this should be done
after vacuuming up sticky liquids. Prior to being reassembled, all
appliance parts must be totally dry.
0 Coil the cable in large loops and hang it on the
cable cradle located on the carry handle. The
vacuuming pipe can be hung on the mountings
on the motor head together with the nozzle and
hose.
46
Spray vacuum cleaning
0 Only spray vacuum those surfaces and upholstery which are suitable to
be wet vacuum cleaned. Do not wet fragile hand-woven carpets or
carpets which are not colour-fast.
Caution: When spray vacuum cleaning be sure to use only AEG
detergent with foam inhibitor for spray vacuum appliances.
Preparation:
0 Prior to treating a carpet for the first time, test the fastness of the
colour by applying some detergent concentrate to a white cloth and
rub it onto a patch of carpet that is not so visible.
If no traces of colour remain on the cloth, the carpet can be cleaned
using water. In any other event, do not use water when cleaning the
carpet.
Prior to spray vacuum cleaning carpets, thoroughly vacuum the entire
area in order to remove any loose dirt in advance.
Before commencing spray vacuuming always remove the paper filter
and the foam filter.
0 Pour water and detergent concentrate into the
detergent tank: 20 ml detergent concentrate per
litre of water.
Use only lukewarm water, as higher
temperatures could damage the appliance and
carpets and upholstery.
Place the detergent tank inside the dust
container.
0 To draw up the cleaning liquid out of the tank,
free the thin hose located on the motor head
from where it has been fastened.
Then attach the motor head on the dust
container such that the switch is located
vertically above the suction hole. When doing
this, ensure that the thin hose is immersed in the
cleaning liquid.
Then press the two vice action latches.
47
Connecting the vacuuming hose, pressure hose and vacuuming
pipes
0 Insert the hose inserts into the suction hole as in
the picture and turn it to the right until it locks
into place.
To remove the vacuuming hose, twist the hose
inserts to the left and remove. Then firmly press
the end of the thin pressure hose into the quick
disconnect coupler located on the motor head
until the coupler clicks into place.
0 Press the pressure hose into the clips and secure
these to the vacuuming hose such that they are
evenly spaced.
0 At the other end of the vacuuming hose connect
the two vacuuming pipes to the handle, by first
connecting the pipe without hook-in pins and
then the one with pins.
Insert the shut-off valve located on the pressure
hose into the track located on the upper
vacuuming pipe as far as it will go. Then turn the
vacuuming pipe such that the shut-off valve is
located on the underside of the handle.
Align the second lower vacuuming pipe such that the clamping pieces
for the pressure hose are located on the same side as for the upper
pipe.
48
Working with the nozzles when spray vacuuming
The nozzles are all attached to the vacuuming pipe by pressing and
twisting and are removed by pulling and twisting.
Spray suction nozzle for carpet
For using water when cleaning carpeting
0 Attach the wide transparent nozzle to the end of
the lower vacuuming pipe press the pressure
hose attached to it into the clamping pieces
located on the vacuuming pipes or secure the
pressure hose to the stainless steel pipe using
pipe clips.
0 Attach the coupling piece located at the upper
end of the pressure hose to the shut-off valve
and lock it by turning it clockwise.
To detach the pressure hose from the shut-off
valve, turn the coupling piece anti-clockwise to
unlock it and remove it from the shut-off valve.
Hard flooring adapter
For using water when cleaning hard floors made
of ceramic, stone or synthetic materials.
49
Spray suction nozzle for upholstery
For using water when cleaning upholstery, car
seats etc. For better handling, the small
transparent nozzle can be connected directly to
the handle of the vacuuming hose:
0 If necessary, unlock the pressure hose by turning
it anti-clockwise and remove it if it is still
connected to the shut-off valve. Pull the shut-
off valve out of the track located on the
vacuuming pipe.
Remove the vacuuming pipes from the vacuuming hose handle by
gently twisting them.
0 Attach the upholstery spray suction nozzle onto
the vacuuming hose handle and push the shut-
off valve into the track located on the nozzle as
far as it will go. Attach the coupling piece
located at the upper end of the pressure hose
which is on the nozzle to the shut-off valve and
lock it by turning it clockwise.
50
Switching on the appliance
0 While spray vacuuming and afterwards the room should be well aired in
order to facilitate rapid drying.
0 The rocker switch must be pressed in the
direction of the spray suction nozzle symbol
. Plug the cable into the power outlet: To
switch the appliance on, turn the rotary switch
to the ”I” symbol.
The rocker switch will illuminate.
Spray vacuum cleaning of carpets
0 Place the spray suction nozzle for carpet on the
carpet in one corner of the room. Press and hold
down the valve handle located on the handle
until the cleaning liquid is sprayed onto the
carpet. Then slowly pull the nozzle that has been
placed on the carpet in a straight line across the
carpet in the direction of the arrow. The
cleaning liquid which has been sprayed into the
carpet pile is vacuumed up together with the
released dirt in the same step. In this way the carpet becomes damp,
but not wet through.
0 At the end of the strip of carpet, or when pausing, release the valve
handle in order to stop the jet of spray. When the liquid that has been
sprayed out is vacuumed up again, lift up the nozzle and begin
vacuuming a new strip of carpet with a small overlap. In this way the
entire area can be treated strip by strip. Should traces of liquid remain
on a strip of carpet that has been cleaned, these areas can be
vacuumed over again with the valve handle released. All that this is
doing is removing additional moisture from the carpet. The amount of
moisture extracted can be checked by looking through the transparent
top section of the nozzle. For a longer penetration time and in order to
achieve a certain soaking effect, the detergent can be applied with the
spray suction nozzle for carpet held above the carpet and then,
following a short soaking period, the detergent can be vacuumed up.
However, one must ensure that not too much liquid is sprayed onto the
carpet, as this could cause (according to the material) ripples or raised
areas to appear in the carpet.
