Perfect bales,
every time
MF 160 Series variable chamber round balers deliver consistent,
even density bales, time after time. Engineered to a high
specication and built to give many years of service, they are
the balers of choice for demanding professional farmers and
contractors everywhere.
0302
The wide range of congurations
allow the operator to select
precisely the right bale size for
individual transport and storage
facilities – whatever the crop.
Five models –
the choice is yours
These variable chamber balers
use a combination of rollers
and belts to produce bales of
up to 2.0m in diameter. A range
of high specication options
include a double rake feeder, rotor
feeder or Supercut for enhanced
performance in all crop types,
ensuring that they will appeal to
a broad spectrum from mixed
farmers to large contractors.
MF 160 Series balers are very
simple to operate, with all
functions controlled from the in-
cab Alpha bale monitor or Light
bale monitor– the latest technology
designed to take the stress away
from harvest-time.

The Self-Cleaning Roller System
works particularly well in silage,
eliminating the need for a special
silage kit.
Horsepower requirement is 80hp,
with 540 PTO revs/min. There is
one single-acting and one double-
acting spool valve requirement.
With the MF 160 range of balers,
baling your crop couldn’t be more
simple and stress-free.
Technology at your ngertips
On ‘V’ and ‘VS’ models the Alpha
bale monitor puts the operator in
complete control, providing the
ability to make adjustments to
all the important functions and
displaying the most signicant
parameters.
Bale size, density and shape,
soft core adjustments, net and
twine tying – all are controlled
from this simple-to-use interface.
When the cutter is tted, knife
position can be set in, out or for
cleaning or removal. In the event
of a blockage, this can also be
reversed without leaving the
driver’s seat.
A constant indication of bale shape
allows the operator to make minor
adjustments to driving technique
to ensure perfectly shaped bales
every time, while bale count
information enables the operator
to maintain daily totals or tallies for
individual customers.

The bafe plate with hexagonal
roller boosts baler performance
by coping with big swaths at
high speeds, while the cam track
is double-sided for long life and
reliability. The pickup is also
suspended, to enable ground
contours to be followed.
Up to 2.2m wide, the pickup has
ve rows of cranked tines to ensure
fewer losses, even when operating
at higher speeds or when baling a
small crop. In addition, it allows a
better crop in-take and a smooth,
even ow from pickup to rotor.
(V and VS models).
Gentle,
efcient pickup
A low-prole pick-up has been developed to handle the bulkiest
swaths and feed them gently into the bales.

MF 160 Series –
variable chamber
capability at its best
MF 160 balers feature ve rigid, wide prole belts, designed to
provide the best contact on the bale while it’s in the chamber,
ensuring smooth rotation with minimum crop loss, even in dry
conditions.
06
The belt surface is specially
designed to turn the bale gently,
with minimal slippage on the drive
rollers. In addition to the belts,
three rollers maintain constant
contact with the bale, helping to
support its weight and to ensure
quick turning of the bale and
faster bale starting. The patented
roller/scraper system minimises
downtime in difcult conditions.
Feeder and Cutter options
Depending on the model, there
is either a double rake feeder or
a rotary feeder (V-form), while
the cutter unit is specied with a
Supercut 14-knife option with a
cab-operated, electro-hydraulic
reverser to help clear blockages
quickly and easily.
Triple-density bales
The same bale can be formed with
three different densities, selected
by the operator in the cab. The
ability to adjust bale density within
the same bale give total control
of operations, allowing selection
of the best densities for fodder
preservation, for example, or
maximising bale weight when
baling straw.
Well-designed press chamber
A combination of rollers and belts,
together with a small chamber at
the bale start, ensures an efcient
bale start with every crop and in
every condition. Excellent bale
quality is also assured when using
the in-cab soft core adjustment
control.
Two hydraulic cylinders, working
in tandem with the rollers and
belts, are capable of achieving
one of the highest bale densities
of any baler on the market.
The Self-Cleaning Roller System
(SCRS) maintains the baler
operating at optimum performance
in all crop types, including short
cut silage (no special silage kit
required). The belts are always kept
clean, making for easy,
safe running.
Bale density
Bale density is set by the Alpha
bale monitor situated within the
cab; it really is that simple. You
choose the depth and consistency
of bale, allowing you to switch
between hay, straw and silage
and ultimately optimising crop
preservation or maximum bale
density and weight, depending on
the job in hand.

Top quality features you
can’t be without
Twine or net wrap?
MF 160 Series balers offer the
choice of net wrap, twine tie or
the exibility of both systems. The
net intake is 1.3m wide allowing
the use of extra wide net, and
the positive feed of the net wrap
ensures coverage to the edge of
the bale every time.
Net storage locations are easily
accessible at the front of the baler,
and a spare roll of net can be stored
above the one being used.
The fast and efcient twine binding
system is designed in such a
way as to allow use with more
economical twine. It binds at the
edges of the bale, crossing in the
middle at the end of the cycle.
Being situated at the front of the
baler, both systems are simple to
control without the operator having
08
to leave the cab. Changing from
net to twine is effected by simply
touching a button on the monitor.
Investment in the future
Purchasing any Massey Ferguson
harvesting product, whether it’s
a baler or a combine harvester,

always available. Consistently
high levels of support come from
AGCO’s world-class parts and
service division too!

The MF 167V ‘Farmer’
large round baler
Simple-to-use, highly efcient and with plenty of capacity, the
‘Farmer’ variable chamber baler is excellent value for money and
perfect for those who use their baler infrequently and for light hay
and straw work.
The system is controlled by the
bale monitor and provides ve
alternative arm speeds for applying
varying quantities of twine.
Variable chamber
The variable chamber on the
MF 167 VF has long belts and
the linear crop ow ensures
smooth, consistent feed into the
bale chamber promoting
high output.
Belts
The path of the bale forming
belts in the MF 167 Farmer is
different to the standard machine
and an alternative belt tensioner
conguration is used. This design
provides a larger pre-chamber size
for easier bale starting and also
maintains the stability of the belts
during the initial stages of bale
formation. The belts have a slightly
longer length; however, the number
of belts remains the same at ve.
Belt tension is provided by a single
hydraulic cylinder and tension
spring.
Netwrap and twine
The net is fed into the bale
chamber via a rotating arm
operated by an electric motor and
is controlled by the bale monitor.
The monitor also controls the
number of wraps of net applied
to the bale. This efcient unit
binds the bale together, keeping
a perfect shape for easy
transportation.
A double twine unit is tted
utilising a pair of oscillating arms
operated by an electric motor.
You need a highly efcient yet
simple-to-use machine with low
running costs and maximum
throughput. When time is
everything, we guarantee you’ll get
it right rst time with a
Massey Ferguson V Farmer – trust
the Farmer to get the job done.
This model differs slightly in
specication from the others in
the range. The feeding augers and
double rake feeder are integrated
into the pick-up, for example.
Double rake feeder
The double rake feeder is unique
to the MF 167 V Farmer model.
The two rows of tines, mounted
on bearings, penetrate the crop
for positive movement into the
chamber.
The design of the double rake
feeder ensures constant ow of
crop, less vibration, lower power
consumption all without loss of
performance.
The MF 167 VF is perfect for
delicate or valuable crops where
the leaves need to be protected.
