Safety
Listening to loud sounds for prolonged periods may permanently damage your hearing. Turn the volume
down before putting on the headphones. Then slowly increase the volume to a suitable listening level.
Introduction
The MP3 Player incorporates a portable WMA/MP3 player, voice recorder and high-speed USB
mass storage device.

USB Storage Device Data Protection
Always connect the USB device correctly. Failure to do so may result in damage to this product. Do not interrupt the
USB connection when data transference is undergoing. Electrical interference and electrostatic discharges may cause
malfunction and damage to the product and cause data loss.
• It is strongly recommended that any important data is backed up on a PC to protect against data loss and
corruption, or device malfunction. Please note that our company shall not be liable for any damage or loss to
the stored data.
• To minimize static electricity, avoid operating the player in an extremely dry environment. In an environment
with electrostatic discharge the product may malfunction and require the user to reset the product.
Installing the MP3 Player Driver
Installation of the MP3 player driver is not necessary for Windows® Me/2000/XP OS.
Note for Windows® 2000 users: Windows Service Pack 3 must be installed.
Windows® 98 SE OS users need to install the MP3 player driver on their operating system.
Insert the CD-ROM and the installation interface will appear.
1. Click the Setup Driver Button to begin the installation.
2. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
Or
1. Open the “driver” folder in the CD.
2. Click on the Setup icon to begin the installation.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
Transferring Data to and from the MP3 Player
1. Make sure the player is turned off and disconnect the earphone.
2. Connect Series Mini B plug to the USB port of the player and Series A plug to the USB port on
your computer. The screen displays “USB Connected”, indicating the player is in the USB
mode. The player is automatically recognized as a removable device.
3. Transfer files to and from the internal memory using Windows Explorer.
• Right click on the Start button.
• Choose Explorer to open Windows Explorer on PC.
• Select the data file to save, drag and drop it into the player.
4. Disconnect the player from your computer (see “Removing the MP3 Player from your
computer for details). WMA/MP3 files can now be listened to and all data stored can be
transferred to another computer.
Installing the Battery
The player is powered up by one AAA-size battery. Remove the
battery compartment cover by pushing and sliding the cover in
the direction of the dotted sign. Install one LR03 / AAA –size
battery into the battery compartment, ensuring you follow the
/ signs indicated in the compartment.
Turning On/Off the Player
Press the Power button to turn on the player. To turn off the player, press and hold the Power
button till the screen is turned off.
Listening to WMA/MP3 Music Files
1. Copy WMA/MP3 music files to the player.
2. Turn on the player.
3. Connect the supplied earphones to the earphone socket.
4. Press the button. Press it again to pause. Press the button to stop.
5. Use the and buttons to control the volume level.
6. Press the button to jump to the previous track if the current track is playing for no more
than 5 seconds, or play the current track from the beginning if the current track is playing
for more than 5 seconds. Press the button to jump to the next track. Press and hold the
button to fast rewind the currently playing track and the button to fast forward the
currently playing track.
This player supports:
• 2000 music files in total.
• 100 directories. Any directory after 100 will be ignored and the music files within the directory
will also be ignored.
• Folders up to 20 levels deep.

Use the:
button to select the menu, return to the upper menu list or exit the menu.

Music
The Music menu includes a variety of ways to browse music files.
1. Press the button.
2. Select Music and press the button to enter.
3. Select a music folder.
Note: The file should include tag information for browse purpose.
• All Songs :
Play all tracks in order.
• Albums:
1. Lists all albums on the player.
2. Select an album and press the button.
3. Select ‘All songs’ to play the entire album, or select a track and press the
button to play the selected track.
• Artists:
1. Lists all artists on the player.
2. Select an artist and press the button.
3. Select ‘All songs’ to play all tracks by that artist, or select a track or an album and
press the button to play.
• Genres:
1. Lists all genres on the player.
2. Select a genre and press the button.
3. Select ‘All songs’ to play all tracks in that genre, or select a track and press the
button to play the selected track.
• Playlist
1. Synchronize the playlists you create in the Windows Media Player (version 10 or
above) to the portable player. (See the Windows Media Player Help file for details
on synchronizing contents to devices).
2. List all playlists on the player.
3. Play songs in the selected playlist.
• Songs:
1. Lists all track titles on the player.
2. Select a track and press the button to play the selected track.
Voice Recorder
Record voice
1. Select Record in the Main Menu list and press the button.
2. Press the button to begin recording.
3. Press the button to stop recording.
The voice recording will then be saved as a file named RIxxxx.WAV in the Record folder.
Note that the screen displays “MEMORY FULL!” when all available memory has been used up.
Playback voice
This operation is similar to the playback of music.
1. Select Voice Recordings in the Main Menu list and press the button to enter the Voice
Recordings list.
2. Press the or button to select a recording.
3. Press the button to play the recording. Press the button to pause. Press the button
to stop.
Hold Function
Use the Hold function to disable the MP3 player control buttons (to avoid accidental activation).
1. To activate the Hold function, slide the Hold Switch in the direction of the lock sign as
illustrated.
2. Slide the Hold switch back to turn the Hold function off.
Note: The MP3 Player can be turned on even if the Hold Switch is at the locked position.
Advanced Settings
To navigate the Settings menu.
1. Press the button to enter the main menu list.
2. Press the or button to select Settings and press the
button.
3. Press the or button to select a setting and press the
button to enter the submenu.
4. Press the or button to adjust the setting.
5. After setting is finished, press the button to confirm and then
the button to exit the menu.
Equalizer Setting
The Equalizer (Eq) setting will adjust the music playback effect. There are seven Equalizer presets
available: Normal, 5-Band Equalizer, XBass, Rock, Classical, Jazz and Pop.
1. Select Equalizer in the settings menu and press the button.
2. Press the or button to select a preset equalizer.
3. Press the button to confirm.
Note: If you select the 5-Band Equalizer setting, you can use the and buttons to select one of
the bands and then press the or button to adjust the band respectively. Press the button to
confirm.
Play Mode
The available Play modes are: The Screen Shows:
• Normal Blank
• Repeat One 1
• Repeat All all
• Shuffle
• Shuffle Repeat all
1. Select Play Mode in the settings menu and press the button.
2. Press the or button to select a play mode.
3. Press the button to confirm.
Contrast
To adjust the contrast level:
1. In the settings menu, select Contrast.
2. Press the button to enter.
3. Press the or button to adjust the contrast level.
4. Press the button to confirm.
Backlight
To adjust the backlight delay time.
1. In the settings menu, select Backlight and press the button to
enter.
2. Press the or button to select delay time.
3. Press the button to confirm.
Note: Selecting "Disable" will turn off the backlight however the screen can
still be viewed.
Power Savings
Use the Power Saving function to automatically turn off the MP3 Player
after a predetermined length of inactivity.
1. In the settings menu, select Power Savings and press the
button to enter.
2. Press the or button to select a power saving setting.
3. Press the button to confirm.
Note: Selecting "Disable" would disable the power saving function.
About
Information is available regarding the firmware version, built-in memory size and free memory
available.
1. Select About in Main Menu list and press the button. Press it
again to see the next information page.
2. Information about the firmware version, internal memory and
internal free memory appears.
3. Press the button to exit to Main Menu list screen.
To Format the MP3 Player
1. Connect the MP3 Player to the computer.
2. Format the MP3 Player (removable disk) using the Windows format tool.
Note: Do not select NTFS from the File System menu. Otherwise, the MP3 Player can not
work and need to format it again.
Removing the MP3 Player from Your Computer
1. Click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the taskbar.
2. Click on Safely Remove USB Mass Storage Device.
3. Wait until a Safe to Remove Hardware message is displayed.
4. Unplug the MP3 Player.
Troubleshooting
Q Why can't I play DRM protected files?
A
DRM-protected files will only play if you copy them to the player through Windows Media Player
or through the music management software provided by the online music store where you
purchased the files.
Q How to Play WMA and DRM protected Files?
A
WMA files “can” have DRM protection. In this case the file content is encrypted with a key. For
playback and decoding it is necessary to have DRM license files on your computer. DRM license
can limit your rights for using these functions. For instance, it can allow only playback and
prohibit conversion into other formats. When you download music from the internet sites that
require you to pay per song, these licenses may be included with the download.
In order to play these encrypted WMA files in your MP3 player, you will need to use the
Windows Media player to copy them to your MP3 player. The traditional “Drag & Drop” method
will not work. Here is what you have to do:
• Open your WMA file using your Windows Media Player.
• Click ‘Copy to CD or Device’ in version 9 (or ‘Sync’ in version 10).
• Select the MP3 player as your device.
If you don’t have Windows Media player or if your version of Windows Media Player is outdated,
you can download the latest version for free from Microsoft’s website:

Note: This website also gives detailed information and tutorials on how you can use Windows
Media Player to manage the music on your MP3 player.
Q The player screen displays nothing after turning on the MP3 player.
A 1 Check to see if the battery has been inserted properly;
2 Check to see if the battery needs replacement: Try reinserting the battery correctly or replace it.
Q The player screen displays ‘Incorrect format, reformat the player!’ and power off.

If you format the MP3 player to NTFS format, it will show ‘Incorrect format, reformat the
player’ and power off. You must reformat it to FAT or FAT32 format in Windows Explorer.
