tal Water Heater has been designed to give you a life time of trouble free service.

It is backed by our rm commitment to innovation and product quality.

We have spent a lot of eort in building this totally reliable water heater. We

have also introduced this handy installation manual, which will help you in

correctly installing your water heater and in getting the maximum performance

out of it.

There is also a section called “Trouble Shooting Guide” to assist you in setting

right, minor problems.

We wish you and your new Venus Splash Digital Water Heater a life time of happy

association.

I. STATE OF THE ART FEATURES

1. Porcelain Enamel Glass Lined Tank - a water proof coating that protects

the inner container from rust & corrosion. The enamel coating is red at

850°C to fuse and bond with the inner container. Manufactured in a mod-

ern, automated plant using European Technology.

2. Unique Ceramic Catridge Heating Element that eleminates chances of

shock since it is not in contact with water.The catridge element also lasts

much longer in hard water areas.

3. Porcelain Enamel Glass Lined Element Assembly - protective enamel coat-

ing over the heating element housing gives highest corrosion resistance;

Reduces scale formation & ensures longer element life even in hard water

areas.

4. Magnesium anode - special device to enhance the corrosion protection of

the tank by means of “Cathodic action”.

5. Outer body made of ABS -Plastic is rust proof and shock proof.

6. Thermal cutout prevents over heating and boiling of water.

7. Multi Function Valve (MFV) prevents buildup of excess pressure inside the

tank.

8. Polyurethane Foam (PUF) Insulation keeps the water hot for a much longer

time and reduces energy consumption.

9. Hi-tech digital display panel with 8-bit microprocessor for multiple

These and a host of other features make Venus Splash Digital Water Heater

a truly world class product designed to give you years of reliable, trouble

free performance.

II. PRECAUTIONS DURING INSTALLATION:

1. Do not switch on the heater without water inside.

2. Do not close the inlet Control valve ever, except when servicing the

Heater.

3. Do not plug the opening of the MFV ever.

4. Ensure the maximum height of the over head tank from the heater does

not exceed the prescribed values as given. If the height is more, use a

pressure reducer valve to reduce the pressure accordingly.

5. Connect the water heater to an automatic pump only after referring the

instructions given in page no.4, point no.7.

6. Ensure the heater is properly earthed.

III. INSTALLATION :

To install the water heater, you need the following tools and accessories.

(Not provided along with the heater)

1. One No.23mm, one No.26mm and one No.27mm double end spanners.

2 Drilling machine with 8mm to 12mm drill bit.

3. Two no of exible hose (ISI Certied)

4. Star screw driver .

A. Fixing to the wall :

1. The heater should be xed to the wall only in the vertical position with the

inlet and outlet pipes facing downwards.

2. Fix the wall plate provided with the heater on the wall using the screws

and nylon plugs.

a. First drill 3 holes on the wall for 55mm depth synchronizing with

those on the wall plate.

b. Insert the Nylon plugs in the holes.

c. Fix the wall plate by inserting the screw into the nylon plug and tight-

ening it till the wall plate is rmly held.

d. The heater can now be hang on to the wall plate by the hanger.

3. Leave a minimum clearance of 25mm between the heater and the ceiling

to facilitate removal of the heater from the clamps if necessary.

4. The bottom of the heater should be about 1.8 m or more from the ground

to avoid splashing of water on to the heater.

B. Water supply connection :

1. Connect the water heater to the cold water line from the over head tank or

from the mains.

2. Do not connect the cold water mains to the heater directly if the mains

pressure exceeds the rated pressure of the water heater. In this case a pres-

sure reducer valve is to be provided.

3. Fix a control valve at the inlet to the heater. Ensure that this is a gate valve

or angle valve that opens and closes positively when operated.

4. Connect cold and hot water pipes by exible tubes like (a) Chromium plat-

ed Copper Tubes, or (b) Heavy duty exible PVC tubes.

5. Heater inlet (cold) and outlet (hot) pipes are marked “ IN” and “OUT” on the

inspection cover.

6. The heater can be connected to multiple outlets - shower, wash basin, bath

tub etc., Fig.2 shows the schematic layout of multiple outlet connections.

7. Connection to Automatic Pressure Pump

The heater can be connected to an automatic pump system also, provided the line

pressure does not exceed the rated pressure as given in the name plate sticker of the

water heater.

On connecting an automatic pump to the water heater, the Multi Function

Valve(MFV) may drip during the usage of the heater. As the water is heated,

it expands and tries to owback through the inlet-pipe but is prevented by

the presence of the automatic pump. Hence water may drip from MFV. If the

dripping is slow and intermittent, provide a thin tube from the valve tip to a

nearby drain. If it is steady and excessive, call our mechanic. Never try to adjust

the MFV setting, as this will damage the heater.

Important :

The MFV should never be removed or blocked by any means to

prevent it from dripping or releasing the excess pressure inside

the heater. The consequences of such an action may well be

disastrous. MFV if tampered, in any manner cancels the war-

ranty of the heater.

8. Connection in high pressure areas

a. The rated pressure of the heater is mentioned on the name plate

sticker.

b. If the water pressure is more than the pressure rating, a pressure

reducer valve should be tted to reduce the pressure accordingly.

c. The output of the pressure reducer valve should be less than or equal

to the rated pressure of the water heater.

9. Connection in low pressure areas :

The water pressure should not be very low. The bottom of the overhead tank

should be atleast 1.0m from the top of the heater. Also, use 25 mm pipe for cold

water line with minimum of bends. An air vent should be provided near the

over head tank to avoid air lock.

WARNING

Do not t a non-return valve or check valve at the inlet.

A non-return valve prevents expansion of hot water inside the container. This

will lead to increase in pressure inside the container till the safety pressure

release valve opens. This will happen in each heating cycle and is not desirable.

So, a non-return valve should not be tted.

Note: Do not use an ordinary stop cock which also acts as a non-return valve.

C. Electrical Connections

1. All internal connections are made in the factory itself.

2. Use a 16Amps 3pin plug and preferably a 30Amps Double pole (D.P).

Switch. Connect Red wire to Phase, Black wire to Neutral and Green wire

to earth terminal of the plug. A separate fuse can be provided as an addi-

tional safety feature.

IV. OPERATION

A. Using the heater for the rst time :

1. Do not switch “ON” before lling the heater with water.

2. Leave the hot water tap open. Now ll the heater by opening the control

valve at the inlet.

3. When the heater is full, water will start owing through the hot water tap.

Close the hot water tap.

4. Now the heater will always have water inside. Water drawn will be replaced

by water from the over head tank.

5. ALWAYS KEEP THE INLET CONTROL VALVE OPEN.

6. Now switch “ON” the power supply to the heater.

B. Using the heater regularly :

1. Always keep the inlet valve open so that water drawn from the hot wa-

ter tap is automatically replace from the mains.

2. Switch “ON” the Heater. The Red color indicator will glow, indicating that

the heater is working.

3. When the water reaches the required temperature the thermostat will

switch “OFF” the power automatically. The approximate time taken to

switch “OFF” by the thermostat for dierent capacities is give in “Perfor-

mance Table ” on Page no-8

4. In general, assuming a room temperature of 20°C it will take 12hours for

the water temperature to drop from 65°C (Very Hot) to 40°C(Warm)

5. The Thermostat setting may be changed by the user to suit own choice.

Lowering the setting of the thermostat will give a lower hot water tem-

perature increasing the setting will give a higher output temperature.

6. Initially it may take a long time for the water to get hot, So switch “ON” the

water heater at least an hour before you want use it,

7. If you require hot water early in the morning the heater can be switched

“ON” the previous night itself. The thermostat will switch “OFF” the power,

When the water reaches the set temperature.

8. The heater can also be kept “ON” always, if required, Since the heater is

completely insulated, the water will remain hot. The thermostat will switch

“ON” and “OFF” automatically to keep the water at a constant temperature

in the way you can always get hot water at the turn of the tap.

C. Operation in Hard Water areas

1. In hard water areas, a hard salt deposit (scale) forms on surfaces in contact

with water. The scale formed on the heating element reduces the heat

transmission and causes early failure of the element.

2. Scale formation can be reduced by operating the water heater at a

temperature lower than, 50ºC. This can be done by resetting the tempera-

ture to 50ºC or below.

CAUTION

The thermostat is a sensitive device and should not be adjusted

frequently in order to maintain its correct functioning.

3. In hard water areas, the door assembly should be removed and checked

once in a year. The deposits, if any, can be removed by immersion in a

solution of dilute hydro chloric acid for few minutes. Contact the nearest

service centre for this if required.

D. Draining the Water Heater:

The Water Heater can be drained fully by Lifting the drain lever provided in the

MFV. (See gure 4)

VI. PROGRAM SETTINGS

Through the Menu button we can select 6 Program Options.

Program Description

P1 -- To select Normal or Smart Mode.

P2 -- To select Power Consumption in kWh.

P3 -- To set Clock time.

P4 -- To set ON time.

P5 -- To set OFF time.

1. Temperature Setting:

Temperature can be set from 30

C to 75

Use “UP” and “DN” key to set the desired Temp.

2. Program (P1): Normal / Smart Mode

To set the PROGRAM Press “Menu” key and select P1 by using

“UP” and “DN” key. Press Enter key. Display will indicate “Sd” for

Normal Mode and “EC” for Smart Mode. In Smart Mode Target

Temperature is set to 40ºC automatically & can’t be changed.

3. Program (P2): Actual Power Consumption in kWh.

To know the Power consumed by the Heater (KWH)

press “Menu” Key and select P2 by using the “UP” and

“DN” keys and press “ENTER”. KWH reading will be

displayed in lower 4 Digits with “KWH” This display will

remain for 15sec only & display will return back to normal

window thereafter.

4. Program (P3): Clock Setting.

To set Clock, press “Menu” Key and select P3 by using the “UP”

and “DN” keys and Press ENTER. Hours start blinking along

with CLOCK icon. Use “Up” and “Down” Keys to set Clock Hours.

Hours Values can be set from 1 to 12. Minutes can be set from

00 to 59. Press ENTER key to save the settings.

5. Program (P4): ON Timer Setting.

To set ON-TIMER, press “Menu” Key and select P4

by using the “UP” and “DN” Keys and press En-

ter. ON-TIMER icon starts Blinking along with

ON-Time Hours. Use “Up” and “Down” Keys to set Hours.

Press ENTER key to save the settings. ON-TIMER icon stops

blinking. To cancel, ON timer, press Down Key. To set

Timer in daily Mode, press Menu key while ON-TIME icon is

blinking. This will set the ON timer of the heater every day automatically.

6. Program (P5): OFF Timer Setting

To set OFF-TIMER, press “Menu” Key and select

P5 by using the “UP” and “DN” Keys and Press En-

ter. OFF-TIMER icon starts blinking along with OFF-

Time hours. Use “Up” and “Down” Keys to set Hours.

OFF-TIMER icon stops blinking. To cancel, o timer, press

Down Key for 3 sec continuously. To set Timer in daily Mode,

press Menu key while OFF-TIME icon is blinking. This will set

the OFF timer of the heater every day automatically.

7. Program (P6): DISPLAY setting.

This setting is used to congure the display to show

either the clock time or ON/O time. There will be an

option to display only one out of three parameters

(Clock, On Timer or O Timer) if both ON Timer & OFF

timers are selected. Press Menu key & use UP/Down

Keys to select P6 & Press ENTER. Clock Time starts blink-

ing, press UP/DOWN key, On Time starts blinking. Simi-

larly OFF time starts blinking as we press Down Key once again. Select any

parameter by pressing ENTER key. Selected parameter will stay on display.

OPERATIONS IN SMART MODE:

When the heater is set to the smart mode the digital controller resets the tem-

perature to 40

C and this cannot be changed.

Beyond that there is chance of scaling. By operating in smart mode the heater

heats only till the water temperature reaches 40

C instead of 65

C-75

C. The

time taken to reach SMART Mode setting 40

C is much faster. User can take a

bath or shower directly with minimum or no mixing of cold water.

By operating in SMART Mode you can avoid heating to 65

C -75

C thereby

reducing energy consumption substantially. You can check the actual power

consumebytheheaterinNormal/SmartmodebyProgramoptionP2.

Scale formation can be prevented by operating in SMART Mode, Scale (calcium

deposits) forms on top of the heating element when water is heated above

50ºC. When the temperature does not cross 40ºC Scale does not form. This can

prolong the operating life of the heating element substantially as well as avoid

wastage of power.

We recommend trying out the SMART Mode operation and seeing whether it

works for you.

Note:

For displaying the Temperature of the water, there are be three Zones WARM,

HOTandV.HOT.EachZoneisindicatedusingWARM/HOT/V.HOTIcons&9bars.

The 9 bars of one Zone will light up groups of 3each as the water temprature.

VII. SAFETY DEVICES

Your Venus Water Heater comes with a host of Safety Devices to ensure your safety

at all times.

A. Thermal Cutout

A non-self resetting thermal cutout is provided as a safety device. If the Digital

Temperature Sensor fails to function, this cuts o the power nearly 95 ± 4ºC. The

thermal cutout has to be manually reset before the heater can start operating

again.

B. Multi Function Valve (MFV) :

1. This valve prevents the build up of excessive pressure within the water heater

by releasing water from the valve tip.

2. It also acts as a non- return valve to prevent the return ow of water from the

heater back into the inlet, thereby preventing dry heating.

3. It acts as an expansion valve allowing the hot water expansion during heat-

ing back into the plumbing.

4. Customer can ensure proper working of the MFV by cleaning it of salt depos-

its, by lifting the drain leaver up. Also customer can drain the water inside the

heater by using drain lever for a prolonged period.

X. Maintenance Instructions:

1. Always keep the inlet control valve open.

2. Never switch “ON” the water heater with out water in the heater.

3. Check condition of Flexible hoses at least once in a year. If found damaged re-

place the hoses.

4. Check the condition of supply cord once in a year for damages. If it is dam-

aged it must be replaced by a Authentic spare cord from your nearest

Venus Service Centre.

5. To increase the life of heating element, de-scaling can be done

periodically with the assistance of your nearest Venus Service Centre or Autho-

rized Dealer.

6. If the water heater is not going to be used for a long time, the Water can be

drained fully by Lifting the drain lever provided in the MFV. (See gure 4)

7. Periodically check the MFV to ensure that it is in operating condition. The MFV

should be operated regularly to remove any lime deposits and to verify that it is

not blocked.

CAUTION

The water passing out of the valve during this checking operation may

be extremely hot.

XI. DON’T’S :

1. Do not switch ‘On’ the water heater without water inside.

2. Do not open the Plastic inspection cover, unless you are a qualied

electrician.

3. Do not tamper with the Multi function Valve. If it drips, call our service

centre.

4. Do not tamper with the 16Amps fuse provided by your Electricity Board

(Refer to C : Electrical Connections)

5. Do not bye pass any safety devices, if the unauthorized service

technicians do not have spares reaily available. Genuine Venus Spares Par ts are

always, available at our service center (list given at the end of this

booklet).

This Venus water Heater is guaranteed for a period of Three Years from the

date of purchase, against manufacturing defects of all functional parts. Free

repair will be provided under this guarantee when the water heater is re-

turned to our service centre freight and cartage paid.

The inner container only, excluding the door assembly is guaranteed for a

total period of 7 years from the date of purchase.

This guarantee excludes any damages due to misuse, accident, negligence,

tampering, unauthorized repair and normal wear and tear.

Please preserve this Guarantee Card along with the paid Bill from our

Dealer. These Documents must be presented to the Service Centre to avail

this Guarantee.
